This guy definitely grew up poor in the boonies and lacks the awareness to know that his experience wasn't the norm. Just getting wifi in 2012, especially in the US, is wildly abnormal. In 2009, 76% of US adults had wifi access. It's even higher in 2012, at 83%. This guy was living under a rock and thinks everyone else was, as well. The lack of awareness is actually mesmerizing lol

Hope Johnny reconnects with Nate, seemed like a guy who had his genuine best interests at heart. Yeah he was a young man too and they partied but fuck if I was getting paid 30k to sign my name on some jerseys, how could you not. Good to see Johnny is doing good, would probably be a good analyst just to have a good personality like himself on tv I think he’d bring in viewers

Johnny Football was amazing in college. But he was 5 10 and 180 pounds. Was too small to be good in the NFL. I think he knew that so he self destructed.

While I agree he was too small, I don’t think he purposely self destructed. I believe he has mental issues he can’t help himself when it comes to being the center of a party. He showed red flags at Texas A&M and most teams were smart enough to not draft him but the Browns rarely draft smart.

@@yokaidigital3033 What are you talking about they don’t draft smart smart??? Couch, Quinn, etc… They even were so smart to trade away their 1st round pick 3 years prior and the only QB to take them to their first playoff win in years and made them relevant again, then traded for Watson. Lol, totally being sarcastic, and the 1 time they did draft smart, they screwed it up and gave it up for Watson knowing what he was in trouble for, lol. Social medias crazy these days so I have to specify that I’m joking and this is 100% sarcasm

@@timking2193 about the only one they’ve ever got right was Miles Garrett. I feel awful for that man to be wasting his amazing talent on the browns. You know when he becomes available there’s going to be a mad dash for him. He’s like second best defensive player in the league only behind Aaron Donald.
@timking2193
@timking2193 10 ай бұрын
@@yokaidigital3033 True, I think it all depends on this year because In all honestly, they have the O line, a top 3 RB and Cooper and some promising young guys at WR. And a solid Defense but most importantly a QB that has shown the ability to be a top 5 QB and make everyone around him better, but something tells me that version of Watson is gone, but you never know. But I feel like Cleveland’s been in this position before and blown it away. If they don’t do good this year, they have the option to opt out of Garrett’s contract which has a cap hit of like 30 million or so in 2024. So I feel like this is the year that will determine if he stays in Cleveland for the majority of the rest of his career or they let go and start rebuilding, which I feel like the browns have been in rebuild mode since 1999, lol. He’s the best pure 4-3 DE in the game, I would love to see him team up with another great.

I watched it today, about 2 hrs ago, this guy was so talented sad that he had no self control. I am older than you Matt (quite a bit older) and I remember the Johnny Football days very well. He could've really been something, I know he WAS SOMETHING, but I mean great, amazing, long career something. But his immaturity I guess, no self-discipline. I'm not really sure what demons he was (may be still) dealing with. Whatever it was, it was stronger than he was and he could not help but cave into it. I truly hope he is doing better these days. ROLL TIDE!!

Back in the day, it seemed like regardless of the play called, he just ran around til somebody was open. Like, i knew he had arm talent because whenever he did plant his feet and throw, it was beautiful, but I figured a lot of it was luck, and he had to play like that because he was shorter and A&M couldn’t keep him out the dirt if he didn’t. That being said, I just knew it would crumble when they went to Bama. Specifically, after that exact play described in the video. Then as after they did it, I just knew he was “The chosen one.” I still only halfway believe it was real.

Watched the Documentary and honestly.......seemed like nothing changed. Still smoking weed, still drinking, still w/ shady influences and still living a Frat boy life. He has a home in Arizona, probably got it from his parents helping him out, and w/ a Network like Texas A&M backing him, likely has some cushy, do nothing job that pays handsomely. I want to say he's a good redemption story, but is he even redeemed?! It seems like nothing has changed. Only exception is he looked like he scaled down on the self destructive lifestyle from his last year in College until he was cut from the Browns. And looks like he was bailed out of life due to his connections. Plus on top of that he cut ties w/ the 1 guy who actually cared about him as a human being in his makeshift Manager when he was in College. Documentary was very entertaining, but it still looks like a tale of a frat boy still stuck in memories of yesterday who refuses to grow up

I had no idea who Johnny Manziel was until I watched the Untold episode (I’m Australian) college players aren’t popular in Aus, NFL players barely become household names in Aus, obviously we know who Brady, Mahomes, Rodger’s and now the Kelce brothers but it’s extremely rare that an NFL player becomes well known here. I’m a fan of a the series that’s the only reason why I watched it. But holy damn did I love it, it’s my favourite episode. I absolutely love Johnny Football. His mentality was exactly like mine at that age except he had a lot more money. The football highlights were the biggest gee up. It’s hard for Australians to identify skill in NFL as we don’t play it, we have several of our own football disciplines. From watching him play you can see he oozed natural skill and talent. I really wish he made it in the NFL. My opinion doesn’t carry much weight and I don’t entirely understand NFL but I think Johnny Football has more talent and could have potentially been better than Mahomes. Clearly Mahomes is far more disciplined than Manziel and he is a better player than Manziel but damn Johnny Football was heaps flashier and his ability is astonishing. Long live Johnny Manziel.

While the doc was cool to watch, I felt that your video on Johnny over a year ago was more comprehensive. That said, I'm with you on the craziest parts of the doc are not really talked about as much. I will say that the doc kinda started somewhat with a tone of a story of redemption for Johnny, only for that to not be consistent in the end, leaving me wondering if I was supposed to feel bad for Johnny or not. Even before watching this doc, I already had mixed feelings about Johnny anways. He was definitely entertaining and polarizing then, but not really someone to be a buddy with in the long run imo I also really wanted the doc to go deeper into his troubled years, which didn't even happen as much as I liked, hence I prefer your video the most in that regard. The ending of the doc left me wanting for more in a lackluster sense. I would have liked a two or three parter doc instead. I'd give it a 6/10

As the saying goes... Hard times create strong men, strong men create easy times, easy times create weak men, weak men create hard times. This is exactly why being born in the struggle is actually a blessing for boys that grow into men. It gives you motivation to change your circumstances which builds character because it's a hard thing to do. Johnny Manziel didn't care about making millions of dollars because he comes from a wealthy family and has never experienced poverty. Nothing would change about his life except a little more expensive car. He was already famous and had girls throwing themselves at him because he was the most popular guy on campus. Going from the Heisman winner on a college campus to a QB for the Browns is actually a downgrade when the money means nothing to the player. That's exactly why he was willing to risk going from 1st overall pick to the 4th round by doing drugs a week before the combine.

I had Texas A&M winning that game anyway because Alabama is probably the most overrated football program in college football for almost 2 decades now and I wanted Texas A&M to win that game so everyone can shut the hell up about Alabama and Texas A&M did win that game. Even though I'm a die hard Oklahoma Sooners fan, I was really happy as an 8 year old at that time when Texas A&M beating the most overrated football program in college football which is Alabama

And yet Bama won the Natty that year he beat them while A&M was once again playing in a meaningless bowl game 😂😂😂. How is a team overrated for two decades?? Makes no sense whatsoever

The point of the documentary was to show he did everything he wanted in life that he dreamed of as a kid. Reached those goals way faster than planned and honestly don't think he wanted to leave college. Like college was his dream and he didn't want to leave but also didn't want people making money off of him. It's kinda wild if you think about it. Remember his favorite movie was Friday Night Lights. Maybe that's all he ever knew.

I liked the Doc. Its not like i feel bad for his actions. But i just wish he loved the game kuz i like watching him in A&M and being that LeBron was in Cleveland at that time i just wanted the Bronws to finally win something seemed like the perfect timing.

Matt, you acting like if a athlete goes out and parties and does alcohol/drugs he’s automatically thrown his career out the window. I definitely agree that it’s not a good choice and has the possibility of being detrimental to the athletes career but let’s not forget about all the athletes that still had great careers while making those bad decisions. I mean Lawerence Taylor was addicted to smoking crack and prostitutes in the prime of his career and is one of if not the best linebacker to ever play the game. I get where you’re coming from though.

Enjoyed the documentary! Funny how people forget how kids, college kids, adults, politicians act and do illegal, crazy shit! It sounds to me that once he became a Pro (business) and just like any job there are boring details you must do to perform, and of course at this level you must go above and beyond just to stay afloat. He never had to work in college and how do you expect him to put in the time if he'd never done that before? He's only 30 and life is not over! So much more left to do and accomplish.

I went to school with Julian Edelman, Kent State. Ppl don't give Kent credit. Joshua Cribbs, James Harrison etc. Anyway Julian tried to get buff but his body type was like Ryan Reynolds tbh. He finally cut his training to 3 times per week and i think he recovered better. He was always trying to find a way to improve. I lost contact with him. I also worked out with Billy Price, OT Ohio State when he lived near Kent in Highschool. Billy price used dumbbells. I asked him why. He replied he couldn't get injured bc barbells run in a single plane. Also he weighed 260, but they had him in the 280s...it's all b.s lol. I guess Julian was more trying to improve, Billy was more about not taking the chances ( risks ). To be fair, everyone knew Billy would be a 1st round pic. Ppl forget Edelman played QB. I think Edelman's mind set of adjusting and improving served him well with the team that does just that. See how different mind sets change and shape things?

For those saying it’s dumb or ignorant for the Browns to have drafted Manziel in the first round I say nonsense. At that point I was very impressed with him in fact on draft day when the cowboys came up to draft all or most cowboys fans were on social media saying things like Jerry please come through and draft Manziel. I remember it well, clearly the cowboys picked well as they took offensive linemen Martin. I’m just saying many people thought Manziel was going to make it big in the NFL. You can literally say it’s a FACT that Manziel had a more spectacular college career than Tom Brady despite using only half the college eligibility that Brady used. So it’s no wonder many people thought he would be a good NFL player. Manziel is just a frat boy for life.

Dude Brady had a horrible college career!! So why are you bringing up that comparison? Manziel heisman Brady part time college starter!! Did you even watch or research their careers? Brady was drafted 6th round I think! Brady ended up an exception and overachieved!! Your comparison between the two in college is dumb af!! As far as the rest of your comment I agree! The Brady comparison makes no sense! Brady barely started at Michigan

Johnny Manziel is the man. It’s not his fault everyone else wanted him to be something he wasn’t. All he wanted to do was have fun in life. Also Matt, it’s hard to understand the mind of addict. You say, “how hard is it to stay out of trouble”. For someone healthy, it’s easy. But for someone like Johnny who was clearly empty on the inside and looking for things to fill him up, it’s a lot harder.

I think part of Manziel's problem with being ing the NFL, was he grew up in central Texas. It's too damn cold in Cleveland during football season. He was probably miserable. He might have been better if a southern team would have drafted him.
