My interpretation is that it’s directed to not only the industry but the idea of the industry within society as a whole. The way the industry has brainwashed all of us…we are the PARTY. In order for us to be reborn, we all must die. We’ve all played our part in the party to the point that we forgot that a party must have an ending. The concept and idea of culture in this iteration has to die, that includes our mentalities which are holding things back from progressing.

Kendrick addressed a symptom in the Drake battle, which was Drake himself. When you go to the doctor with an ailment, they'll likely give you something for the pain or the fever you're dealing with. Those are superficial issues and are brought on by something deeper. But only after those are resolved can you address the root cause of the problem. Maybe it's resetting a broken bone or antibiotics for an infection. That's when the actual healing begins. I think we are in the 'root cause' phase.

I think the problem starts when people don't want to see the meaning behind the metaphor and think that just by getting the metaphor is enough. This whole diss battle wasn't against Drake but against what he represents, not the person but the product, it was a whole perfectly planed storytelling from the beginning and is easy to get how and why he used motives from past albums, because there're themes he's still trying to share, thoughts and beliefs and values that he keeps repeating from the start. Very personally and probably wrong, but I think he used Drake as a reluctant protagonist for the First Act of this new play, and he even gave him a path to his redemption arc at the end, but since that part is over, this Second Act is where he expels the merchants from the temple.

I Think it was just Hip-Hop fans commenting on your video mentioning Drake, not just his fans because Kendrick and Drake are both Hip-Hop and we need both the Work and the Play in Life.
@RobMarkmanАй бұрын
I agree they’re both hip hop. And i agree that balance is the key. But the ones in my mentions were the type of fans who only tweet about Drake and no one else.

I Definitely Feel Like It’s Not Directed At *Drake* I Feel Like It’s An *Uprising* Against The *Machines* 💯

The growth of this community is insane.

man.. im really disappointed in how far people have fallen from being able to comprehend lyrics and digest actual songs of substance. It really drives home the theme Kendrick is getting across about this system needing to be destroyed. Years of musical brain rot has taken its toll on the culture and we desperately need change

Really appreciate your perspective...so many other channels have really missed the Mark man..(pun intended😉) . They are still fixated on pointing fingers at particular people.. However this is not that. It is the bigger picture of its product.

And that’s crazy because ironically the landscape of hip-hop was forever changed by NWA. It’s been gangsta shit ever since. If you really wanna know who took the “culture” down the road Kendrick’s talking about, you’d have to look no further than Dr. Dre. That’s a whole different convo tho.
@TakverReturnsАй бұрын
Schoolly D's "PSK (What Does it Mean)" is actually the track that steered hip hop down the gangsta rap lane. NWA even cite that track as a inspiration,.

Lucien Grainge’s (Universal Music CEO) son Elliot Grainge is the new CEO of Atlantic Records. The Grainge family will control the majority of the music industry and its artists. That’s the main problem.

Congratulations my guy you just earned a new subscriber. An I'm in agreement with you my guy this isn't a Drake diss it's a critical look at the current state of Hip Hop. In my opinion K. Dot is on the same page as my man Dee 1.

Glad I spend most of my time and money focking with the indie scene where the culture is still pure, the music is still exciting and still pushing boundaries.

On point! This is way bigger than Drake, the shoe may fit Drake in a few lines but this is about the culture as a whole. Burn it down to rebuild it.
