I think personally laminate guitars sound pretty dang good but… and its a big but, it depends on the brand. A laminate Taylor or furch is gonna sound a heck of a lot better than a laminate recording king or something along those lines. Where I’ve noticed the biggest difference of solid wood is that it has so much more sustain , overtones and overall better projection. Just my .2!

Even with the laminate 214ces, the veneer options DEFINITELY impact the sound. I hated the jangly sound of the 214ce, but the 214ce-K sounded amazing with punchy brightness. I ended up buying a 314ce instead, but the 214ce-K sounded very similar to the 314ce. On the other side of the coin, the 514ce Urban Ironbark also sounds very similar to the 314ce. For such similar sounds, it all came down to the best value, which is easily the 314ce.

Cool demo guys! as usual very informative! I was a little disappointed at Cooper LOL. It seems Cooper only got to play only for about 3 minutes out of 15! What can I say! I love the man's guitar performances. Any chance Cooper, you could treat us to a little longer demo performance?

Don’t forget the Taylor branded tuners too!
@davidmartel41842 жыл бұрын
I'm so used to the tuners on my Taylor that i kinda took for granted that all guitars have good tuners... I played a cheaper guitar from a different brand a few days ago and it reminded me how important it is... the Taylor tuners stay in tune for a very long time and are precise when you tune the guitar.

Cooper! Great demo! I have a 110e. Not sure about the other layered wood Taylors but mine really reacts to different string choices across brands, even of the same gauge strings.

Im really looking for a new guitar , but im not in the US, and our currency is worthless , 15/1 , so when i buy , i need to make sure its the right thing .... its going to be expensive... but to get to the point , are you happy with your 110e , or do you think i should go for a 2 series even if its a bit more expensive? i like the 14 shape , so this might be right for me ...

Here are my 2 cents from a guy who own a 214ce-cf-dlx and a dx1r. They are both very different guitar but... if you like the 14 shape, you could probably get the martin gpc in the x-serie (proably called the gpc1 or something). It's cheaper than a 214, similar price to a 110 but a little cheaper in my Country actually and still have a 14 shape (or close to it). The sounds are the 2 opposite, the martin has a woofy sound and the taylor a more shimmery sound. I guess it comes down to what you play. I heard so much thrash talk about the x serie, I'm a strummer and I like that sound and for the money, I would be happy with the gpc from the x serie. I'm also very happy with my Taylor but it costed more.

It’s confusing to compare this to a ce and ce plus. It should be compared to the plus. They keep saying part of the upgrade is a gloss finish but the plus DOES have a gloss finish- at least specify that. CE doesn’t have gloss but the next step down from this guitar is the ce plus- which has gloss finish all around except neck. Upgrade from plus to deluxe QS ltd is the inlays (cosmetic only), the case , and it comes in the QS , again cosmetic. So money wise it’s inlays and case. That’s really it. Nice guitar though.

I bought this guitar (sight unseen frm an online dealer that supposedly does a 55 point inspection). It really isn't that great. Pretty dead on the bass end. the D string is very prominant. And, it needed a complete set up. Way high action that requires a saddle sanding, then the nut is actually too low. The frets are relly rough along the edge. I like the look and feel of it, but it doen't sound very good and doesn't come ready to play. If you buy one, buy it from a local shop that knows what they are doing. I got the dlx pkg for the upgraded case and gloss. but now i wish I had put the extra $400 toward a better guitar. Hope it holds it's value as an investment. I don't expect to play it much. It depresses me.

Guys, lol, it'd a laminate. The hype on the wood is gone. Would a mahogony laminate differ from a rosewood laminate? No. Still, Im sure it plays and sounds pretty well. After all, it's a Taylor. I have a 1999 214 non cutaway Taylor, with solid back and sides, and it is just a marvelous guitar. Incredibly full bodied tone for a grand auditorium. I do wonder where that was made because it is solid wood. Just curious. Thanks for the great channel!
@jamesconraadtucker Жыл бұрын
@Jfre 2 yeah, you keep thinking a layered laminate is equal to solid wood. NOW, granted, some solid wood guitars are just not worth they're weight. But in the scope of quality guitars, solid wood is the essence, of better balanced tones (generally speaking). That includes an equally good soundboard, bracing, etc. I'm sure you have played some laminates that are better. Than some solids. It won't be many. You just have to respect the higher echelon of guitars. That is of course unkess you want to prove it to kuthiers and the rest of the world. Enjoy your guitar though! Just don't come off with lines like "wrong".

@angelg84452 жыл бұрын
Yep, that’s the thing ab ALL Taylor’s they are made the same regardless of location of construction. Even the high end ones just differ in woods. It’s the good and bad thing ab them. The layered/laminated wood is the only difference (which is something that isn’t as ‘good’ as all solid wood) but it isn’t the country of origin that has any differences.
