I had a MV 8800 and loved it!!!… hated waiting 5 minutes to load a track 😂 But having a DAW in a hardware, that was magic. If they made something like this now, they should keep the pads but go all in on the DAW idea and give us a fully functional hardware DAW, with all of the effects Roland has now. Completely auto-tune and harmonise vocals… mix and master… record instruments … multi track recording, loads of ins and outs… maybe extra ins and outs digital so we have to buy adat converters. But it’s hardware with the latency of hardware without the cost of a HDX protools rig. Give loads of adat to be able to mix out into digital… give ABS in and out for mastering… let third parties make plugins for in and allow DSP to be expanded… lofi plug-ins will be a obvious addition… Hardware I like to stay in only making music… this would be ideal for me… maybe go all in and have pcie for third party DSP boards… that’s asking too much I know lol
@TigroGumi2 жыл бұрын
Basically what Akai has done with the FORCE but with the ability to record multi tracks. The FORCE lets add a USB interface up to 32 inputs and outputs, but you can’t record that many tracks at the same time… maybe Roland can do it but not just give you DSP effects and synths, why not add other hardware to it like the guts of a INTEGRA 7… ROLAND MV 8800 MKii and a INTEGRA 7 would be a great combo… or just have their keyboard cards in the machine

I'm not sure if they would commit to another product that's full standalone like the 8800 again. Though I could see Roland develop their own VST DAW for Roland cloud users. MPC's desktop software runs as a DAW, as a VST in other DAW's, and on the hardware itself. I think Roland would more likely develop a similarly designed application that integrates the MC boxes, and a potential new larger hardware sequencer.

The recent M2 iPad would be perfect as the monitor/computer for the 8800 MKII. You keep showing a monitor behind it. It would provide an internet connection, web browser, storage, cloud access, and be the size of a monitor. Plus the iPad Pro has a Thunderbolt 4 connection. Think of the speed, the low latency, and if Apple ever gets off their ass, access to Logic. I’m sure I’m wrong, but it would be brilliant.

An MV-MKII coming up? I don’t think so. Roland ditched that line years ago. They know that the MV-fans group is not big enough. Too much development and too less revenue/profit. Price point of MPC is hard to follow. Akai has a more dedicated group of fans. Besides that, the OG MV software was developed by a 3rd party although Roland had own programmers. Take a look at the recent follow-ups and then you see that Roland is only focusing on smaller and more affordable products. TR-8/TR-8S/TR-6/MC-707/MC-101/MV-1. The more expensive units are synths. There’s nothing in between because that gap is filled by other brands like Native, Akai, Electron and so on. Besides that, Roland didn’t call me for more info regarding improvements 😉 The idea is great but I really don’t think an MKII will enter the line up.

I have the MV8800 yet as I spin live and make mix projects , it was never getting into my sets, because it's too tedious. I use my Ensoniq ASR10 which is so smooth, sounds crisp. and the EFX processor can be used in REAL time. That means you can run your signal sources through it and enhance/mangle them.. and you can create /use your own effect chains you want.I would like to see them make sampling with ONE dedicated section,with maybe a touch screen or scrub dial so you can edit your samples on the fly. I should come with 1-2 GB of RAM stock with room for 16-64 GB more. room for 2 SSDs, USB Cx2, 8 outs ,MiDi in/x2..thru/out..Optical,and keep the VGA/mouse functions with the mouse being uSB..To make it run faster,just start using something like a Intel i5 or AMD equivalent and give it total connectivity to a desktop/laptop for if you want to connect a DAW. So part ASR10 part Pioneer S1000, and part MV8800..We should write to Roland en masse and see what they say..

Fresh owner of an asr10 myself love it. But been offered a good price on an 8800 though so considering it, mainly cos I can’t afford an mpc3000! Is it really that tedious to work with? @michaels8607 Жыл бұрын
@@CleanConnections Sometimes we need t think about the validity of what people complain about. If you are only concerned with music and results, the main attributes are reliability and consistency, not how it looks or if it works 3 minutes faster. I already knew the ASR was slow to load, so I turned it on before other gear, then I would go grab some records, clean the needles, clean a few records, etc,and it was never an issue. It runs hot, so I did not stack anything on top of it, and I even bought the 16MB RAM. I never replaced it and still used the 2MB now over 25 years later, with no issue. And would it be a crime to have a classic sp come with more sample time, honestly I wish the Roland would make a maschine mikro/mpc studio type of unit, The price point makes it possible for anyone to get into music without regrets.
