Mismatched rotor crew. I traded my helm mk2 and 185x55 dpx2 for two dvo forks onyx sc D1 with ott and this exact onyx 38 d1 sl, the 36 is brand new the 38 was on custom build for about a week. Hope I didn't get shafted, I just installed the Onyx 36 on my trance X29, I'm not done playing with it for tonight 😅 Will service the 38 before installing it on the Jeckyll, I ordered a bunch of stuff for both forks gladly dvo keep parts available... Thanks for the guide, no worries I'm also reading dvo documentation. 😅

The 'notching' is a lip so that the fork lower can sit on the hub axle ensuring that the load path run from tyre to rim to hub to fork, and is not running through the 15mm bolt in spindle. The hub axle and the 15mm bolt in spindle are two different things. If you're not sure what I mean, check out Peak Torque, he does an excellent job of explaining it well.

I’m thinking of putting one of these on my enduro rig. A little nervous slot the weight though. A full pound heavier than my Fox 38! Thanks for the review!

So, the SL version in this video is 5 lb ish. The OTT version probably is a pound heavier

It's definitely not a pound heavier than the Fox 38. Put the two on the scale with the same spec and they're super close. We've had a few Fox 38 customer take-offs here that are heavier. Go with the SL version and you won't be disappointed! Thanks

I rode one wil edit video here one day. It’s super poppy air spring. So crank the rebound slower and add compression

Can someone explain to me what is SL and OTT version difference? Is SL two air chambers and OTT oil\air?

ott is like Rockshox air spring, except better. OTT uses half air half coil, it is heavier and more plush and a little harder to setup in the start

I would get SL unless you enjoy coil forks. I like coil forks, but not enough to own one. They are more plush weight more. Wheels on the ground riding they are better

Hi, I was looking at a DVO triple cramp along with Ohlins 38DH and fox 40, if this 38 is as good as you say and think they are I might consider them great review, I'm wanting to go back to triples on my kenevo expert,

Let’s be real. A $2,000 fork Ohlins is going to be absolutely better performance than a $1,100 fork. Give DVO 2 grand it will be up at that level. I emailed them and asked for the special Gas Gas fork they said no go. I was always torn between Zeb’s pop and Fox’s plush bucket. Here’s the middle ground

Cheers for the feedback 👍 all the forks I'm looking at are second hand couldn't justify £2000 on a fork, when haibike do the ndt 8 for £4500 with ohlins front and back, and magura mt7 brakes,

I have your bike the old BoXXer was one of the best fork I ever used dual crown is on another level. I’m running the bike with 230x60 shock full 29er less travel more wheel makes it feel like a weapon!

Heard good things about this fork. I went with the onyx 36mm i have ridden it on my commencal meta. Really good! I bought another 36mm onyx for my banshee titan I personally love the green. They make good forks. These comments tho people are bike industry NPCs. Just rockshox and fox lol there are better stuff out there

Probably Fine, I ran 3 shocks with the fork already. It’s right between the Zeb and Fox.

After I saw Mo And Hanna walking the Suntour factory where they make the DVO. Hate Suntour, not interested in DVO now.....Still want to see your review the Mezzer by Manitou.

That forks high on list. I just watched that factory video thanks for the tip. That’s how everything cheap is made. Sweat shops in Asia or it’s $2,000 for a rear shock!

Why do you hate suntour? They make top tier shit in every category, the Olympics, darkfest and ews have all been won by riders on suntour forks.

@@Orphansmash I'm kinda the fork guy in a local bike shop. I do all the service work on them. The shop sells several brands that suntour is OEM and I have to deal with all the owner complaints of how bad their forks feel. The number of ST forks I have had to tear down and try to make them not "feel " like crap is well over 50. Suntour forks are pretty much 10 years out of date, they have no suspension patens so they wait for a paten to run out then the copy the suspension design. top of the line suntour = 2012 fox/rockshox forks.

DVO isn’t a rebrand SR fork. We have our own engineers and process. I’ve made suspension in Italy and Asia for decades now, it’s not the country but the process.

We are in the same building but not the same company. I’m sure you have strong opinions about bike parts, I do as well but I can’t say I hate any companies.
