it's not a pun or joke it's actually the name given to these pistols when they were being made, the actual name is pretty boring and a mouth full to say (Mk 22 Mod 0) so instead they called it hush puppy, also sorry for gun nerding out lol 😅

With the Hush Puppy it could be cool to have a Knockout Framework patch so you could use it in a similar role to what it played in Metal Gear Solid 3, as a fun little knockout tranq pistol. Otherwise, great mod as always Dak, really fits Fallout's aesthetic, and is a great 9mm alternative to the Hi Power.

These recent gun mods are amazing. They’re real lore friendly and accurate. This gun is a Smith & Wesson Model 39 pistol, designed for special forces during the Vietnam War; nicknamed the “Hush Puppy” because its effectiveness in putting down enemy guard dogs. .38 acp was a fairly common caliber in the early 1900's. It was pretty much Browning's 9mm for civilian 1911's. i can easily see an alternate timeline America refusing to use foreign calibers

A semi auto pistol using .38 Special doesn't sound real to me. Rimmed cartridges don't like working in magazines, which has led me to believe that Bethesda mixed up the calibers for the pipe pistols and pipe revolvers.

To be fair, the gun in New Vegas wasn't specifically a Browning HP, more like a third-party derivative of the same model made by the fictional company M&A, same as how other companies have made their own recreations of certain gun models, under license or not. Like how Springfield Armory made the SA-35, which is another derivative of the Browning HP model, or how Ruger for example produces another one of John Browning's designs, the M1911 as an SR1911, or the AMT Hardballer by Arcadia Machine and Tool (the pistol used by the Terminator in Terminator 1). This thing actually reminds me of the SA-35.

So as someone who owns real firearms, the hush puppy seems like it would be using 380 auto for it's ammo not 9 mm due to the fact that in IRL firearms when a suppressor is being used, the firearm in question has to use subsonic ammo, otherwise point of using of a suppressor is defeated, however a 9 mm caliber firearm can operate with 380 auto(acp) as well, and given the fact that the pistol in game has the player character manually operating the slide it leads me to believe that the ammo being use isn't strong enough to operate the slide therefore the ammo is either a custom loaded by the player character or they are using a similarly sized ammo that's just not strong enough to operate the slide 🤨🤔🤔 BTW 9mm and 380 auto(acp) have the same diameter IRL, I know this because I've handled both that's why I'm even suggesting/considering any of this.

Love it. If anything, you could make it available at level 1. I still don't know how modding does it's magic, but would that make it an alternative (but not a replacer) to the pipe guns? (Like, why does this prewar safe in an army base have a pipe pistol? Was it arts and crafts day at the barracks before the bombs fell? lol)

If I could recommend a weapon for you (or someone else) to make a mod of, there should be one on the Colt S.C.A.M.P., it was a prototype machine pistol from the 1970’s that was trialed to replace the 1911 and looks a lot like the RoboCop gun. Not sure what ammo it should use in game since it used a proprietary .22 caliber cartridge (a lot more powerful than .22 lr); maybe 10mm could work?

If you're considering it some more lore friendly bolt action rifles would be greatly appreciated. Right now all we have is the hunting rifle (with the attachment pack it's great for sure) and the F2 you made. I would definitely not say no to some more...

you should make the police pistol from fallout nv. reuse .44 pistol animations. if you want it to be single action then give it a faster fire rate than the slow ass default rate. there arent many low caliber revolvers on the nexus. there are only .44 magnums or 500 magnums or some unrealistic bullshit. also i would finally have a pistol for my walter white playthrough.

Can your gun mods be used without the Munitions mod? I used a mod like that before and it just dumped my game with useless ammo and so I kinda don't wanna bother with mods that introduce a whole lot of useless ammo into my game anymore. The only new ammo I got added is 9mm from the 9mm Pistol mod, which ammo I also use for two other gun mods.

Munitions was made in a way to AVOID flooding your LL with useless ammos you dont use as it’ll only inject ammos that weapons in your LO uses

Munitions does not dump useless ammo into your game, it only adds the calibres that are actually used by the weapons you have installed. On top of that you can use the holotape that the mod spawns with to remove any calibres you don't want.

The point of Munitions is that it doesn't do that, it detects which ammo types you need and only adds those. if there are no weapons in your game that will use a particular ammo type, it won't be added. It's a great mod, I highly recommend it. Through the use of a frequently updated patch mod, you can even have pretty much any weapon on the Nexus use the most logical ammo type possible automatically, saving you the effort of looking for patches for each weapon.
