I think they should’ve gone the GTA route in terms of letting us buy the game to keep and have the online aspect come with it to choose to do if you choose to. Part of the reason I’m worried about this being completely ftp is that if it ends up not being as successful as ea wants then we all just sunk all our money for a game that lasted for a short time

Skate going free to play was the worst decision they ever made. People are sitting here saying "oh if you don't want to pay for cosmetics, don't!". But the whole premise of skate was to progress in the storyline to unlock more brands, gear and clothes........... so them taking this live service route is a huge disappointment. I'd rather just pay full price with a few additional DLC/content. Such a sad time for gaming honestly. Can't wait for everyone to buy the new Vans old skool pack for $14.99.

I'm not liking the "free to play" aspect of things, but if it's anything like Fortnite where you can play the game without the paid stuff and still get to do everything, then yeah, I'd like to see it come to fruition. I wouldn't mind paying for a skateboard graphic, only because I buy skateboard decks irl that I just hang on walls because they're special reissues or limited editions, so being able to buy a skin from an 80s Powell Peralta graphic would be cool so long as it's not outrageously priced. I hope proximity voice chat is a thing because that would be amazing lmao I also hope they add some grinding (tasks/side missions) method to collect in-game currency so that you're not breaking the bank all time. Only time will tell. Sadly, this seems to be the future of gaming But I'm hoping for good things because next to the Tony Hawk games, I hold the Skate games very near and dear to my heart

I would honestly rather pay £50 for the game with the odd premium cosmetics in DLC packs or something. They haven't actually given us any hint (besides having fancy cosmetics which seems likely) as to how they are going to monetize the game and that worries me.

A lot of this is built around the same idea as Rider's Republic, and a lot of issues you mentionned with quality of life were issues in rr, those things will definitely be looked after, because they have a clear example of what not to do right out of ubisoft.

You say that but you underestimate EA's greed. Even if they do have private servers I doubt that the game won't have the always online issue. If I can't play the game because EA's servers are ass then that's gonna be a problem. We already have an idea of what servers they use based on all their other online games. Apex has some pretty bad server issues and it's been like that since the game came out so I have no reason to believe this game will be the exception. Just gotta keep it real. I don't have faith in anything EA puts out until it's released and I can try it myself. Until then, I'm remaining skeptical of a free to play skate.

Honestly, the gameplay is what I would hope they would change. Session and Skater XL have more fun controls. Session with manual catch is my all time favorite right now. Skate pioneered a more realistic skate game, other than the Thrasher game from your shirt, there was never a game really made for skaters. I was hoping skate would give us the realism of Session/XL with the polish and experience of a major studio. I figured they would keep legacy controls, but was hoping for a hyper realistic mode. Without it, I’ll just stick to Session. Skate is too easy and loses its charm pretty quickly.

I've always found Session and XL to be far easier, since you have so much control and can modify the physics to your liking. In Skate, especially 1 and 2, you have to actually work to get tricks looking good. Hardcore in Skate 3 made it a lot easier to do this, which I really didn't like. I completely agree about the polish from a major studio. It's why I was initially so excited, because XL and Session, whilst certainly pioneer, still do not feel or look nearly as complete as the Skate games, at least in my opinion. It's just a shame they seem to be straying away from their roots, but perhaps the finished product will hold up.

@@sabbath9503 lol, skate is so easy even on hardcore. I literally bought a 360 just to play the first one. Have an embarrassing amount of hours on the trilogy. I can’t even play for 10 minutes without being bored. Pretty much any realistic trick can be done in 1-3 tries.

@@MrNight-iw9md It's even easier on hardcore, since you don't really have to worry about popless exits, you flip out and it's already super low, and looks decent. This is why I prefer 1 and 2, and not only do they look better, the physics also feel superior too. I can land any realistic trick very quickly too, but there's a difference between hitting it perfectly so it looks nice, and just hitting it so you get the trick name displayed, if that makes sense.

the tricks are client side, you do the trick on your computer, and everybody else just sees what you did. lag wont cause you to miss a trick, unless your game rubber bands like in skate 3 online, but i doubt it will be a major issue

Anyone that complains about microtransactions/in game purchases is simply mad they don't have the extra pocket change for a cool skin(guess what...nobody's forcing you to buy anything😱). The worry about people messing with obstacles or "placables" that you are trying to skate is, in my opinion, the huge downfall to SkaterXls online mode and made playing with others online, almost unplayable

As well as, they have stated in one of their recent videos that they expect to support this game for at least ten years. So having the game have mechanics for you to create new spots or soft mod the game will be the best way to keep the game fresh without them constantly having to add or change things. And we all should most definitely expect for some of the coolest stuff to place down around the map to be a small micro transaction for sure. With the game being F2P, they will add stupid ass other ways to monetize it to pay for the servers and for them to potentially make more than $60-$70 a person off the game over time. We all know by now that Free to Play, isnt really free at all. Studios would not be making more free to play games if they werent racking in money.

@@INSYA The problem with XL and Session is they lack the same level of polish that the Skate series has, and I'm talking down to the core skateboarding. Other than the physics based tricks and the controls, there isn't much that they do better.

Omg microtransactions, if you don't like them then don't buy anything and just skate. Yeah kids are going to buy the game, how does that affect you in any way?
