They were desperately trying to sell off Finn figures from TFA for a couple of dollars. It's sad. I worked in a toys r us when I was a teen. Back then they had a whole aisle of star wars stuff.

3 days till Toys R Us is no more. The Star Wars section has collapsed down from two stalls to one small one... And its all Rose Tico, Rey and some Hux... The Tie Striker was £60. It's now £20 and it's still not clearing. TLJ figures... When held up to their Rogue One and TFA counterparts are a little smaller and the eyes aren't as well painted, now just black paint instead of a paint job with eye colour. Jyn's Jedha figure straddles the range to allow direct comparison between R1 and TLJ.

I went and checked out the SW section in my local Walmart and was pissed to see how much of it has sold. Granted instead of taking up an entire aisle when I was younger they had only two shelf lengths dedicated to this junk. But because of the state I live in I expected it. I would say half the toys were sold, with most of them being the action figures. Boycott this garbage until they get the picture. If you keep buying the crap they are selling they literally have no reason to quit making it. That goes for merchandise to movies and everything in between.

Its not a question of some of it selling but If Im being honest I do tend to see a direct correlation in the stores locally Ive been too between the figures that arent selling and the female characters. The figures that DO sell are Luke, Kylo Ren, and sometimes Poe. Yet, Rey and Rose Tico seem mostly to always be available and reduced in price. Admiral Holdo mostly hasn't even been stocked in any of the stores Ive been checking in on.

The problem you're seeing is that there are two types of people who would want to add more female characters to Star Wars: people who want more characters like that cute A-Wing pilot, and people who want more characters like Holdo. Star Wars is in the hands of the latter. There's no reason why you couldn't have a Star Wars trilogy full of female characters that was still fun, but it would never be written by the people who had Holdo denigrating the hero of the Resistance for destroying a dreadnought.

OH WAIT I KNOW! -The movies are shit and they don't have good characters in them. -Hasbro milked the Black series to death by recycling the characters over and OVER again to the point where not even the old ones sell good. -And of course Hasbro being cheep and laizy with it's normal non collctor toys. . It's realy an unfair comperason but If we look at japanese toys(be it regular or collectible) you can see a drastic difference both in terms of variaty and quality. For example I do have a few figma and not a single one of them were even remotly disaponting. And as for regulat toys I somehow got a hold of a few figurines of a rether obscure show called Dual Masters and these toys were and still awsome. The scolpting is so good and high quality that I would not mind putting them on my shelf. . You know what. Let's just allow a Japanese toy maker to come in and take over. dricsi07 I have the erlier ones. I have Saber in ragular outfit and saber alter, Kagome, Drossel (the best one), Yomi Isayama, Tsuruya from Haruhi and Mari Makinami. Almost all of them have warped knees, My Mari Makinami seat being broke, the sword ponpon of Yumi broke, Saber Alter arm broke a month later and last week I find out my regular Saber have a crack in her neck. These toys looks preety but they're fragile as hell and age terribly. The only other awful toy I can compare is my NECA TMNT Michelangelo which one of his knee joins stated to break apart and I barely played with him. Just wait, they will eventually have issues.

Corey Mckee you need to stop throwing toddler tantrums and learn how to read, little boy. If you do, you'll see that I said: the prequels were awful. George Lucas had abandoned a lot of the directors, producers and advisers who had helped him with the original trilogy. He might have respected the original trilogy in some way while making the prequel trilogy, but that didn't mean he made the prequel trilogy any good. He had clearly lost what touch he had, and it was hoped, at the time, that the move to Disney would inject some quality and old-school feel into the franchise, especially considering what they had done with the early MCU films. And then Disney made it so much worse, in ways which we didn't anticipate. We had the greatness of the original trilogy, the cringe of the prequel trilogy, and now the nosedive of the Disney trilogy and it's extra standalones. I watched all three prequels, and remained a hopeful Star Wars fan. I watched TFA, and immediately gave up on Star Wars. Do you understand now? Or do I need to break it down into words of one syllable?

Corey Mckee Lucas' ideas? He took from old black and white Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers serials. (Star Wars has always been openly defined as a homage to those) He took from Dune. He took from Akira Kurosawa samurai films. (The line about 'finding the rebels' hidden fortress' is taken directly from the title of a Kurosawa film.) He leaned heavily on Joseph Campbell's 'The Hero With A Thousand Faces'. He mixed those together in a successful way for the original trilogy, but he had a lot of other people guiding him and telling him 'no' on ocassion. (An example of his own work? Harrison Ford famously told him 'you can write this shit, George, but you sure can't say it.') The prequel trilogy was much more just him, and he fumbled it. The fact that the Disney trilogy is worse doesn't change that. The original trilogy was and continues to be great (if I can just find an edition where Boba Fett isn't a kiwi and there's no bleedin' Hayden Christensen force ghost) but I'm not going to view George Lucas as some unimpeachable genius because he once thought 'gee, I want to make a movie like the ones I watched as a kid' and then had people hold his hand for it. The more I look at the prequel trilogy, the changes to the OT since the special editions, and the other non-SW, non-Indiana Jones (except the last one) films that George Lucas has made, the more I think that the OT succeeded _despite_ Lucas, not because of him. He's like Peter Jackson before there was Peter Jackson. And that certainly doesn't make him exempt from criticism.

I consider these $5 Star Wars toys as a direct result of the sudden failure of Toys r Us. Think about it. It happened so fast that Hasbro couldn't stop or scale back it's production. They must have a glut of these figures and have to move them on the cheep to recoup any cash. The really rare Star Wars figures might be the next wave where amounts produced are pulled Way back.

Boy I spent many a night reorganizing my Star Wars action figure collection as a kid. The "CommTech Chips" you mentioned used to have a little dowel sticking up that action figures foot would lock into holding it upright. The CommTech reader was awesome, it actually worked everytime and there was none of this gimmicking "move your wrist" crap that barely works. The Star Wars toys really have gone down the shitter.

It's funny I took my 5-year-old son to see "TLJ" and while he walked out saying he liked it, I later rented it on Vudu and we got about 25 minutes into it. He got bored and didn't want to watch it anymore. He does still like playing with lightsabers though and he does like the Kylo Ren mask toy.

This just means nobody in that specific store accepted the price change that returned the new figures to full price. It actually happens a lot and has been going on for years. It's not unique to the Solo toys. I remember this happening as far back as 2012, with the TVC line.

Toys aren't made for kids today...Just collectors. I remember when I was a kid when I got my figures for Christmas, they'd fight in the snowbanks around my house, if they survived that, in my sandbox. We PLAYED with our toys..... unlike today where kids don't even buy the toys. It's all collectors now. Never to be opened, and never to be played with. No wonder they never grow in value. Because they never get opened or become rare like the originals. Sad....

Im was a 15 year long collector of SW toys, straight to the clone wars. I sold everything, everything I have, toys, statues, comics, books! I just have an original 1977 Kenner Darth Vader left to remind me what a great trilogy we have and what it meant to me as a little child.

The figures that are out now, makes my Episode 1 figures feel more like gold. Episode 1 the movie was a bit on weak side, but the figures were molded and painted quite well for the time. The Commtech chips were a gimmick, but at least they also features as a display stand for the 3.75 figures. The best part about it, you got so much for only $4.99 back then!

2018 with today's prices and they're using toy technology dating back to 1978. Pathetic. It's like this decade is where multi million dollar franchises' merchandise profits goes down the drain like Thomas and Friends under Mattel's current direction where the toys are largely of poor quality or Doctor Who after 2012 when Character Options decided to shrink the 5 inch range into the 3 line just as 6 inch action figures were coming back in style. Even the worst of the 90's never had sales this especially bad.

Also, just some feedback. I own damn near every figure, vehicle, playset of the 3. Inch lines, from 95 until 2012, when Disney bought the franchise. Now, to be honest, some of it isn't all bad. Some of the troopers are good, but mostly is shit. I'm 29, and work alot, and it's just my wife and me. So money is rough. But I wouldn't buy these for the fact that they are horrible in contrast to what they were. They used to make figures that have multiple poa, great accessories, and timeless characters. Now they are chunks of plastic, with a force link gimmick, and dumb ass rose. There is one figure I want really bad, Luke... Just cause I feel no matter what, he ALWAYS deserves a place on my shelf, no matter what Disney did to that poor man. So if you still have that one, and want to give him a home, I'll pay for shipping and all that. It will be the only figure I have from the new Disney star wars, he'll have a story behind it, coming from the infamous world class bullshitters, and will look great next to my other Luke's. Thank you, sir. Keep making awesome content, and never change.. your perfect, and the hero we need in these dark times.

In my local Wal Mart, they sell a generic light saber not affiliated with the Star Wars line called Space Sword, and it's only about $2. It lights up and makes light saber sounds just like the real deal for a fraction of the price. Hey, if you want something cheap, you might as well pay cheaper prices. I find the latest line of Star Wars merchandise very disappointing.

They’d have to pretty much give the figures away for free, since nobody wants the new Star Wars figures today. This is the only way they can actually sell the new figures. And the mark up price for that Millennium Falcon is ridiculous. Who would pay $100 for that? It’s small as hell and it’s not as cool as the old falcons one could get a decade or two ago.
