I can tell you right now that there will be no Evil Queen figures surviving the initial retail period before reaching Ollie's. Gal Godot is just too hot. Honestly, there should be some type of tipping point with merchandise like this: if they can’t move it after 3-5 years, send it back to be melted down and recycled into something useful. What exactly is the alternative? Just leave all this Shang-Chi, Eternals, Iron Heart, and Shuri Copters rotting on store shelves until the store runs out of space? Landfill?

@duckpwnd

I was kind of wondering that myself. I saw a company (I'm sure there are several) that recycles plastic by melting it down and molding it into blocks/bricks (almost like large legos) that are used for building basic structures and shelters (especially in third world areas). That's what they should do with all of this crap. Aside from an occasional grandparent who's out Christmas shopping and doesn't know any better and just sees the name "Star Wars", no one wants any of this garbage.

I used to work WAY back in the early '80's for what was called a 'Job Lot'. These were stores that bought, in quantity, stuff that was sent back from the regular stores, because the quantities didn't sell. The "Job Lot" store then would resell them at low prices. Even THERE, the store wouldn't be able to get rid of this sh*t. The store owner wouldn't even BUY it for resale.

The problem is that they have giant, years-long contracts to make merch for Disney. And it’s bundled together, so they HAVE TO make Marvel and Star Wars shit in order to get the lucrative brands that sell enough to make up for the losses of these marketing disasters. At some point they WILL have to severe ties with Disney if the bleeding outweighs the profit from other brands over a long enough period. But it is a very slow-moving train wreck, and historically these Disney brands have made Hasbro a ton of money, so they’d rather weather some bad years in the hopes that sales will pick up in the future, as opposed to cutting ties with Disney and having them go to another toymaker and blacklist Hasbro. Doing their job properly is what results in the mountains of junk! It’s not their fault Disney is turning out ruined franchises.

And they have all the obligatory Hasbro toys, including a few Shuri Copters! I now remember noticing the changed building one day a few months ago, but had never heard of Ollie's before, so I never investigated. Ya know, if instead of being stupid plastic models of people no one cares about, they were Lego sets, they would be long gone, because you can (almost) always reuse a Lego set for its parts.

We went to our local Ollie’s and yes the piles are real. The prices were way too high overall. For every 1.99 Shang Chi there twenty $ 10 action figures. Shuri Copters are $10. Who would pay that? Ollie’s clearly bought the stuff for way too much money. If they slashed prices in half they might get grandmas to buy their grandkids an action figure or two. You’d think that after years and years of slow sales, Ollie’s buyers would get tougher on their purchase prices.

And the funniest part IS, that WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS, EVEN AT A DISCOUNT (UP TO 70%, NO LESS), nobody wants any of this sh*t! Can't understand why the kiddies apparently aren't bugging their parents for a ShittiCopter, or a Reva figure.

Notice how you rarely see Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Hulk toys at these places (and the ones they do have I can excuse them since they are the cheaper toddler toys and not Marvel Legends versions), and I have yet to see a Venom, Green Goblin and Deadpool toy pop up in one of these videos at a bargain centre Seems like people actually like those characters...

Disney is trying to make Season 2 of Kenobi. But first, they should try to sell off all those Reva toys first. Ollies is probably thinking of shipping any future deliveries straight to the local landfill.

When i look at the mountains of this unsellable junk at Ollie's, it makes me wonder how much money in losses Hasbro has had to eat over the past 5 years thanks to its contract with Disney. They must be desperate to get out of that contract. I get the impression that with every new issue of a Star Wars or Marvel action figure Hasbro is signing up to eat massive losses. It simply can't be sustainable. At some point they have to stop or risk going bankrupt.
