What exactly is the alternative? Just leave all this Shang-Chi, Eternals, Iron Heart, and Shuri Copters rotting on store shelves until the store runs out of space? Landfill?

I was kind of wondering that myself. I saw a company (I'm sure there are several) that recycles plastic by melting it down and molding it into blocks/bricks (almost like large legos) that are used for building basic structures and shelters (especially in third world areas). That's what they should do with all of this crap. Aside from an occasional grandparent who's out Christmas shopping and doesn't know any better and just sees the name "Star Wars", no one wants any of this garbage.

@StarWarsomania3 күн бұрын
The problem is that they have giant, years-long contracts to make merch for Disney. And it’s bundled together, so they HAVE TO make Marvel and Star Wars shit in order to get the lucrative brands that sell enough to make up for the losses of these marketing disasters. At some point they WILL have to severe ties with Disney if the bleeding outweighs the profit from other brands over a long enough period. But it is a very slow-moving train wreck, and historically these Disney brands have made Hasbro a ton of money, so they’d rather weather some bad years in the hopes that sales will pick up in the future, as opposed to cutting ties with Disney and having them go to another toymaker and blacklist Hasbro. Doing their job properly is what results in the mountains of junk! It’s not their fault Disney is turning out ruined franchises.

The fact that even those Mario toys haven't sold shows that kids just don't really get action figures anymore they're just glued to their tablets.

When i look at the mountains of this unsellable junk at Ollie's, it makes me wonder how much money in losses Hasbro has had to eat over the past 5 years thanks to its contract with Disney. They must be desperate to get out of that contract. I get the impression that with every new issue of a Star Wars or Marvel action figure Hasbro is signing up to eat massive losses. It simply can't be sustainable. At some point they have to stop or risk going bankrupt.

You got Hasbro sued by its shareholders. 🤣

I was in retail for a long time, and this type of crap still fascinates me. I do like the commentary though. I can keep up with retail trends and happenings many places, I choose to watch you anyway, so there you go.

I've bought a few of these Marvel and Star Wars figs at my local Ollie's just for cheap kit bash custom figs. Would of been nice if Hasbro mass produced stuff like G.I. Joe army builders like the Cobra Pit Viper. Hasbro has is clearly lost.

More like new depths, you can't find enough bottomless pits to get rid of them. Like Whoopi Goldberg pinups, they get thrown back out from whoever or whatever leaves in the dark. I hope most get the reference.

At least Ollie's offers a place for us poor people to dig for a decent gift for the kids, man I can't shop at regular places anymore, been that way for a few years, but this year I'm tapped out, need to buy everything on clearance.
