I have a lot of TTO2B experience. Run the MS often - I like it. I know GPM parts are so-so at best, but they have ONE thing that make sense. Get their metal diff gears, because the TTO2B gears are notorious for stripping. They sometimes last maybe 2 packs and that's it. Get the ball raced steering linkage too, there's too much slop in the stock system. That's the two best upgrades aside from bearings. The rest can be changed as it wears out. But steering linkage with bearings and full metal diff gears are a must for a well running TTO2B as it will kill the dif gears in short order.

Hi Glenn. Great Unboxing video by the way! I received my Plasma Edge II Gun Metal Edition last week, and built it over the weekend. Coming from a Schumacher angle, this was my first Tamiya purchase, and chose this model mainly due to the pre-painted, pre-cut bodyshell & wing. Plus, loved the colour and it’s ultra-cool look! Found the build to be an absolute pleasure, with no real issues. Went for bearings, driveshaft & motor mount upgrades, plus a 13.5T Brushless Sensored motor & decent servo. AND LiPo!! 🤔 It looks so nice now it’s built, that I don’t really want to run it yet, and am still undecided whether to fit the Decals. So, it’s currently sitting & looking proud on my mantelpiece at the moment... Keep up your awesome videos - I really enjoy watching them! 👍😎

The best upgrade fro a TT-02B (IMHO) beyond ball races is stiffer suspension towers. The supplied plastic ones are too flexible and don't let the suspension work correctly. It transformed my Plasma Edge II. It's a really good buggy though out of the box and got me back into RC cars after a 30 year hiatus :)

I have a neo scorcher metallic blue. I love to ride it. I had it stock for a while, but the prop shaft kept rubbing on my servo. So I changed the entire drive chain. And while I was at it I changed the plastic bearings to ballbearings. It soooo smooth now when you hold it in the air. I also installed a motor cooling fin, metallic motor mount and a bigger spurgear. It didn't do much speedwise. But it's nice to know it's there. :D

I got mt TT02B Dual Ridge up to 52Mph or 83Kph with stock gears and tires. Just put a 5900kv motor in it and ran it on 3s. Got my Top force up to 71Mph or 113Kph yesterday...lol. 😂 As for the TT02B when I ran it on 3s offroad the rear end pinio/bevel gear(the one at the end of the driveshaft inside the rear gear housing) broke teeth off within a minute. The glass filled nylon gears are brittle compared to say my Boomerang stock drivetrain which handles 3s fine offroad. So I put steel diff gears and ring and bevel gears as well as steel spur and motor pinion. It's bulletproof now. Congrats on the sponsor by the way! 👍😀

Hi Glenn, been rocking a Metallic Blue Neo Scorcher for a couple of years. At first I ran it stock with bearings but now have upgrades as follows... Aluminium prop shaft, end shafts, alu motor mount, high speed gear set 68T Spur, full turnbuckles, carbon shock towers front and rear (rear broke so replaced with FRP), metal out drives & dogbones, aluminium rear hubs all parts are Tamiya. And the biggest Bling upgrade are the DF03 Aluminium Dampers!!! Boom 🔥👍😎🔥 Most of these upgrades just improve efficiency of the drive train and adjustability and TBH the shocks are lovely blue bling but not really required 😂👍😎 Got a HobbyWing Max 10 4000kv combo and it’s proper mental, bit too quick and might drop back down to the Black Sport Tuned had in at the start... 👍😎

Hi Glenn, good to see Tamiya Legends getting some recognition! Good Stuff! I'll be interested to see what the diff journals look like when you pull it apart after running with plain bearings. The diff bearings are metal, so in theory should wear nicely against the fibre reinforced plastic of the diffs, but on the two TT-02B's I've built i was too scared to try it and put 12x8 ball bearings in from the start........ If you ever decide to put silly power in it, the all metal DF-02 differentials and pinions can be swapped in, the only modification needed is to file the collar on the back of the pinion down a bit until it fits, I cant remember the exact length needed but its a pretty straightforwards mod.

Ali motor mount. run it on 8.4v nimh it rips. It’s not far off my hpi wr8 on 2s depending on which gearing I use as I’ve tried it on 64 66 and 68 spur with various pinions. Jump well aswell tried it with 3s for a laugh it ripped a glued road tire away from the wheel. 🤣 found it best all round running 68 spur with the biggest pinion it would take using that spur can rember which size it is. My PE2 is rather well used! Its very tough. The spoiler is vulenerable though. I found it a little slow/dull in standard set up though. Obviously bearings are a must but a speed passion 8.5T & hobbywing 120A esc & 2s lipo & 19t pinion livened it up substantially! The plastic drive shafts, cups & axles can be replaced by the metal ones listed in the TT02B MS manual its not listed in as a hop up but it works out way cheaper than the universals hop up. For jumps the shocks are better with the clear 900 damper oil from the DF03 spring bag. Now if you don't like the plastic diff gears then the metal gears & diff case from a DF02 (Gravel Hound) will fit with a minor fileing of a millimeter off the bevel gear. & as you mentioned the turn buckles are essential to. So I'd say 900 oil, MS driveshafts & turnbuckles are the way to go. 😀

Currently running one of these, just general bashing. They are very basic out of the box but like you said have a massive range of hop ups. The ones I noticed that made the biggest difference were the Aluminum steering set (not cheap) and the high speed spur gear set. Aluminum prop shaft looks bling and obviously reduces twisting. Would be great to see you gradually improve this kit and hop ups are widely available. 👍

I'm interested to see how this goes, it might be a fun car to pick up considering how cheap it is.

Hey was wondering what Tamiya cars can compete with the Kyosho ultima or RC10 and 4wd turbo optima. Tamiya has buggy’s that can compete and possible win on the track. Does Tamiya I meant to say have anything to compete I’m really a Tamiya guy d like the RC10 as it’s the only American team associated. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This day and age, ALL kits from entry to pro - should come with bearings and oil shocks. The extra $25-$45 to put them in would not break the bank for the kit to be properly completed from Tamiya.

Totally agree 😊👊🏻

45 bucks is not a viable thing to do in a car that sometimes retail for 90 bucks. But they should include them, for an additional cost of 10 bucks. The Tamiya bearings are not the best and fairly cheap. Glenn you can probably ball race this for 10 quid with bearings from RC bearings.co.uk. Do it,
