I feel like the free Arena money kinda hollows out the main game, vast majority of the players dont have to give a fuck about quests, looting anything and can just use meta gear every day for their 5 daily raids. The games setting is supposedly about being in a scarcity plagued area where its a struggle to survive, but instead eveyone is a millionaire that can get anything they want with 0 effort. Worst part is if every Timmy is running meta gear, all that gear is about as exciting to get as the scav guns they used to run in the past. The game is basically becoming Arena with bigger maps, where there is no risk & reward and people have nothing to lose.

hm, I don't see that much of a change, and it's refreshing to see people actually rocking good gear instead of lvl50+ running with a makarov. sure there's risk, and I still farm the quests but it's nice to know that I don't have to grind for countless hours to get some roubles on busy days

@@fairTX Its exciting for a little bit, but at some point its like "Oh wow look a 3rd meta gun this raid thats going straight to the vendor...yay". Sure the game could be grindy in the past, but that what also made it feel good. If you killed a guy you knew he took a while to unlock his gear, then some time to loot up the money to get it and you just got it by beating him. Now all the gear is effortless and due to that also meaningless. If people want a light casual game with Tarkovs combat there is already PvE and Arena, why do we need to casualize the main game too?

Hit the nail on the head. The game is supposed be at least semi "hardcore survival" but arena totally takes away that aspect. Arena along with the flea market make this game wayyyy too easy as far as roubles and leveling go.

A little tip for woods, going straight to outskirts like that is a deathtrap as its also able to be seen by snipers completing various quests, hug the boundary of the map on either side and the exfil starts at a pretty safe distance to prone and you get a good early sight line on potiental campers

epic episode fair! thanx alot. i still dunno what i think about arena. it kinda is a nice addition to the game, but it kinda bugs me that i see like lvl 61 players running around doin the gold watch quest on costums. Plus the gear fear went wwaaaayyyy down the shitter cause ppl tend to have a shit load of rubles cause of arena. cannot wait to see your thoughts on transition and mortar ;)

You can hear footsteps on wood just before he fires, if you play that map a lot you eventually learn that usually that means that someone is in that connector. I would have prefired the same way

Ngl the biggest issue to me is still the balancing of meta gear availability. There's not much to risk when you unlock the ability to craft/buy meta kits with no risk, especially when Arena guarantees you're never below a few million ever.
