To be honest I don’t mind loosing parking sensors that much but lack of stalks is completely bonkers. Wish Tesla would offer accessory stalk upgrade. Your thoughts?

@MBrown Жыл бұрын
Yeah could be a nightmare here, wheel will be upside down and you’ll need to remember which was is up or down
@DRAG0N1012 Жыл бұрын
As someone who lives in the us with way less roundabouts it would be more useable because the wheel doesn’t really need to move far. I do also feel like this is a big back step I personally do not like buttons on the wheel. I think it personally defeats the purpose of minimalism but I’ve heard from several people if Elon wants it, it really doesn’t matter what the design team thinks. So unfortunately this will hit a yoke situation and I hope it’s offered as an option for a bit more money. It didn’t really blow up with the x and s because far far less people bought it with the 3 and the y getting hit it is a very polarizing thing and I hope enough dislike the design it will be offered as an option instead of mandatory.

I like the design, especially in that red.With regard to the indicators IMHO if they had put the right turn on the right and the left turn on the left it may have made it easier to control but I can see many people missing the button they want and end up confusing people in other cars. But in general I think it has brought the design up to date.

I think you're totally missing the point re USS above removal of stalk etc. The whole point is to make the car more upgradable. Tesla vision will get better with upgrades. Plus one of the videos on the Aussie site shows a camera in the front air vent eventhough its not there in the others
@MBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. So I disagree on the USS. The cameras cannot judge distance and never will do. They maybe get better at guessing the distance but thats all. I just don’t understand removing a feature and replacing it with something which doesn’t work as well, it’s already been out a year. Yes I was hoping a camera in the front vent would help things, but it looks like they’re not adding it in for some reason?

No stalks will be polarising for sure. I am not a fan but I am willing to try. I could live without USS if they bring a bird's eye 360 view but without that, USS is definitely way better than vision. Thanks for the review Mark.

Hi Mark, just to let you know there is a camera in the centre of the grill at the bottom in the front grille. You can see it, just, and also when you look at the camera location picture on the website, which you put on your video, you can see the centre front camera projection. I think is an amazing looking car but I’m waiting for the refresh Model Y to replace my March 2022 Y. 👍👍
@MBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks Darren, yes I’m hoping it’s there as that should help drivers. It’s kind of funny as it shows that it wasn’t really a good idea to remove USS on the current model as they wouldn’t need to add a camera if it worked perfectly

Hi Mark, thanks for the heads up. Indicators on roundabouts I think, on reflection, I would get used to - I can always cancel after straightening the wheels - or maybe we get 'roundabout detection'!. I do not like important driver controls like selecting reverse to be within reach of my front seat passenger, Emergency stop, yes, selecting reverse no. I do not want any such control to be voice operated. I agree about the parking. Tesla Vision could be fine but it needs full camera coverage and it does not appear to have it. The car can model where it is in relation to things it has previously detected - it knows how far it has moved and in which direction - but it has to detect them which means cameras have to be able to see them. Back seat controls are a very welcome addition. I'd like to see the rear passenger emergency door release made more obvious. I like the ventilated seats - good upmarket move. Extended range is of course reassuring to many who are thinking of moving from internal combustion and have not yet appreciated the supercharger network and how to make good use of charging stop time. The price worried me until I converted it to Sterling. All in all I think it is a good step forward. I look forward to Model Y mark 2.

Ordered the new LR Model 3 earlier, I’m in Australia so it’s showing Jan to Mar ETA. Went for the black paint, 18” wheels, White interior. I’m still tempted by the black interior as I think it goes well with the black car and looks really good without the wood trim this time around. I also considered the new Stealth Grey paint but it was an extra $2,300, so I stuck with the black. Interesting to note that the referral program no longer extends to the new model 3, you can only use referrals for the model Y currently!

I'm a big fan of the current design and think it still looks better than most other cars on the road. I pretty much agree with all the points you made here. I do like this new design I'm loving the new lights (back and front). I really like the new wheel designs. Getting rid of the gear and indicator selectors seems like a step backwards. I'm sure Tesla Vision will be awesome eventually but maybe it should have been working BEFORE Tesla removed the other parking sensors instead of letting Tesla owners be testers!

thanks! Yes I agree, I never ever mind change if it is better. People moan when the iPhone has a change, but it’s usually because something better has replaced it. Problem with this is that the Vision isn’t better (and doesn’t show any signs of even becoming close, which is a shame.)

I agree. Not a fan of the Tesla vision nor the thought of losing the stalks. Sometimes Tesla tries to fix problems that don’t exist, such as the stalks or tries to flog a reluctant (hopefully not dead as we are now stuck with it) horse such as the Tesla vision. I too have mixed feelings about this.

I kinda feel the same as you actually. Though, already the front lights are growing on me. I do prefer the Porsche like lights on the older model. For me, and the reason I bought my Model 3 three months ago was the lack of stalks. Ever since it was a rumoured to be losing them and after watching a review of a model S with no stalks on a roundabout. It looks a total nightmare. A tiny button now the opposite side of the wheel (when turning on that roundabout) so what was the bottom indicator button being the “left” indicator is now the top button with the wheel having being turned but not only that, that little button is now a moving target whenever you want to indicate your exit from that roundabout. No no no. Not for me. I’ll be keeping my older 2023 model thank you.

I need to know how the indicators will work. The left button doesn't stay on the left when you start putting full lock on the wheel around an island or corner, so where is the left going to be then? Is it clever enough to keep the left hand button to be always left even with the wheel turned around enough? Someone must know the answer already.

Great video! We’ve got a 2019 SR+, with sensors, and a Chinese built 2021 Model Y L R, camera only. We are constantly impressed with how well the camera system on the Y performs. We live on a narrow lane, with tight parking involving around 3 shunts…no problem. Despite pushing a doddery 70, the wife and I say bring it on with the jettisoning of the steering column stalks…not an issue. One of the great benefits is a significant reduction in production costs…especially considering Tesla produce and sell in the hundreds of thousands. If we want affordable EVs, changes like these are in order. Expect the Chinese to follow? We are going to run our Teslas until they drop, and like you, find the old design pleasing. The new design, in our opinion, takes the car into the future…and very pleased they’ve retained the Tesla elegance and simplicity. Nothing but praise for the refresh…and the kids, if you have ‘em, will love it. 10 out of 10. Oh, by the way, have you checked out the number of drivers, (of any car), decide not to use the indicator stalks provided? ; )

The range is in the WLTP standard when it says 421 mi it's actually like 370 perhaps or perhaps 350 in the EPA standard via rough estimate. The EPA testing has more accurate results the EPA is not in Europe only US. In EPA though this would be like a 13% improvement roughly with very basic calculations so the actual range for EPA would be more like 370 or 375 which means it would get a real world range of around 340 to 350 mi but until we can get the battery pack size and the efficiency numbers at highway speed we do not know for sure. Definitely know what you're getting first. Just because a car in the real world does not do what it's advertised by a standard doesn't mean it's complete garbage because most gas cars I have been in do not live up to their advertise range because of the same standard.

It's a freaking Tesla and what do you expect from an unorthodox, pushing the boundary, innovative, not a legacy car company. Think about why you loved Tesla in the first place, not because it was the same as every other car, but because it was different. When there was a big screen, no volume knob, manual vent, climate control, glove box switch, front speedometer, style, panel gap, blind spot monitoring, material, ambient lighting, no ventilation. It was never gonna work, unless it worked. Habit makes you adapt. It's hard but muscle memory needs to fine tune. After a month or two it will not be a thing that just happens automatically. Just be grateful that it doesn't have a yoke and horn button in the wrong place. Be greatful. And remember nothing is perfect. Perfection is subjective, you cannot satisfy everyone. Try to adapt because that's one the meaning of life or be a BMW Driver (never uses turn signal).

Hey yes I agree with many of your points, I’m just not 100% sure about the indicatiors (it maybe easily pressed see a lot of people in the USA tapping indicators without realising it on the new wheel) don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate it, I just don’t think its an ‘improvement’
@mhsohel47 Жыл бұрын
@@MBrown I also agree with you but you are missing the bigger picture. It's not a improvement, Everybody knows it Tesla knows it. Because it was never meant to be an improvement. Engineering is not just about making the best product, but it cheaper cost effective manner. It's like everybody can make a best ev (Rimac Nevera, 2.3 Million) with unlimited budget but making car for masses with profit is hard. USS is cost 50 bucks for tesla to add but amount of time to stamping uss hole, painting, wiring harness, ecu, human labor, shipping time can save is about 1000 bucks in manufacturing case. And you forgot one thing, all other improvements that are better is cost you nothing bcz its about same price of older model. Then how tesla do it? with time and cost efficiency. Just think about if the model 3 goes from 42k to 35k in uk in next year with that efficiency, nobody will complain. Price makes everything irrelevant.
