How can you store 16 voices with the EX5?

You need a license key to unlock the store/save features of the VL-Wizard. A button called CST is available in the main control panel. When clicking this you can store into one of the 16 VL slots of the EX5. Important is that the Midi-output port of the VL-Wizard is set to EX5 so that the sysex format is correct.

@@IMOXPLUS I didn't realize the EX5 had 16 slots if the plug-in itself only had 6. Still not worth it to buy the whole ex5 just for the 10 extra slots, better to just have a good system to move the sysex voices into the 6 slots quickly during a performance. It's not with it to get the Motif es just to put in two plug-ins either, not for me, because the plug-ins cost usually over $359 each besides at least $400 for the motif. All that for just a few user spaces doesn't make sense, better to just be good at moving them around. I DO look forward to being able to afford the Wizard., not that the $150 isn't worth it. I've just over-spent pretty badly. I really look forward to it. If I get the Patchman chip do you have available the pates for the factory original patches? Ia the design information Matt Traum had about editing the eVL70m available anywhere?

@@davidmdyer838 You can design your VL-voices using VL-Wizard and use a free sysex librarian (mac) to send VL-voices sysex into the CURRENT memory of your VL unit using a program change. Loading a VL-voice takes 2 seconds... so, you can load on the fly during a performance... www.snoize.com/ The best VL-voice design guidelines are made by Manny Fernandez. You can find these back on the Patchman music website etc. The best libraries for starting for building your own high-quality VL-voices (at level of Patchman).. is Wind-List, Manny Fernandez, Wietze Krikke... these libraries are included. Premium users do get my help when designing their own VL-voices using the deep parameters. It takes about a week to get a good feel on how to tweak/design your own VL-voices with deep parameters. +3000 hours of work have been invested in the development of VL-Wizard... many users say that it is worth each dollar/euro. And the Patchman turbochip is far more expensive + you are NOT allowed by Matt Traum to do deep editing of his libraries (IP protection), only basic tweaking (display parameters). hope this helps.

I have one question. Does VL70m sound good without using breath controller?

The VL70m can work in 3 modes, Breath control, Velocity control and Touch EG. The Preset 2 sound bank is designed for Velocity / Touch EG. The Preset 1 sound bank is designed for Breath control. You can simulate a continues stream of breath using the Aftertouch CC. You can also connect the VL-Wizard software with any Yamaha synth that contains PLGVL cards... Conclusion: you can get good sounds out of the VL70m without a breath controller. I have users that hooked this module to the guitar midi synth and they use the string type of VL Voices. But if you want to get the best out of the VL70m then I strongly recommend a windcontroller (EWI, WX or anything device that can send a continuos stream of BC CC midi data) Hope this answers your question.... If you are not going for a breathcontroller then you maybe better invest in a Yamaha module or synth that can hold PLGVL cards...example: getting a Motif ES rack with 2 PLGVL cards can open a new world of sounds and you benefit of the better effects engine....just my personal viewpoint...

VL70m Editor I planned to use Vl70m with Motif XS6. If you say I can control stream of breath using aftertouch - that's ok for me. It is important to me that I can control breath functions via "on board" controller.
