It is disappointing that a $200 webcam can't autofocus properly, they might be able to fix it with a firmware update. Either way the manual focus seems usable so it wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me personally.

It's higher dynamic range because it's shooting two frames at two sensitivities/exposures and then on the fly merging them. This is why the native 60 fps is 30 fps with HDR, every other frame is a lower/higher exposure. It's just like in photography where you take two shots, one with a lower/higher exposure and merge them. The fact this does it on the fly is impressive and the reason I bought this web cam.

So I bought one...and when you get down to it, for the amount I need to put together to get my rig up to date, and what I've already spent on sound, just adding good lighting (and learning how to do it) and a capture card, even if you could find a DSLR for less than $400 these days...made it a good choice. For now. It'll make a good back up camera if prices return to normal and you can find 6 year old discontinued cameras, like the a5100, for less than $400. Now all I need to do is figure out where to get the $2200 I need for a new rig (not including the video card) and I'll be set.

I am hooked on using my iPhone as a Webcam using Filmic Pro plus a capture card and a Lightning-to-HDMI adapter. The setup, excluding iPhone, is roughly $75 USD. To me, the quality is as good or better than the typical Webcams I have tried. Plus, if I want to get fancy, I could add lenses and stuff if I want to in the future.

I feel, the Razor smears a fair bit if you’re moving around. I cannot say I’m super impressed. But other than that... it’s decent ~enough~ for a webcam. At this state of webcam technology, I’m on the edge of deciding on getting myself a camcorder or maybe even a system cam.

So I bought the Kiyo Pro, sent back the Avermedia PW513, and it IS THE BEST Webcam hands down. - Nice and clear... 513 really wasn't. - Nice color, 513 was terrible. - Nice and clear in all kinds of Lighting situations, no need for frontal light. 513 was apparently only decent with frontal lighting. Zooming issue didn't seem so bad with me, but didn't fully test, one can just set manual focus. Overall, the Kiyo Pro is EXACTLY what I've been looking for in a webcam, that works like it's supposed to. I didn't even adjust anything, works nice with default settings. Now hopefully I get my full refund back for the 513, the seller may not. :( It DID have issues otherwise, so hopefully, they believe me and it's enough.

Might be worth noting that you can still access most of the manual adjustments without using the Razer software. There are some that you can't though.

The basic stuff, you do NOT need their software for. The basic camera adjustments can be done through OBS too.

It's probably the best all around webcam. But you know what's strange? The logi streamcam. Although it doesn't have the best quality and no wide angle but the autofocus and auto exposure is much smoother than the kiyo pro. I kinda appreciate that webcam now. I bought one at the time when it was surprisingly the cheapest webcam to go for. No regrets but WHY DOESN'T IT HAVE DETACHABLE CABLE LOGITECH?

5:52 Logitech Streamcam is way smoother and keeps you in focus similar to pw315, definitely see ghosting on the Kiyo Kiyo has better image detail though and sharpness.

This was very helpful. I need something to work with Streamlabs and with Nvidia GeForce Experience. I recently purchased the Elgato Facecam and it does not perform like I expected it to and my mistake was not doing enough research beforehand. It is not compatible with Nvidia GeForce Experience recorder. Do you have any videos with the Razer Kiyo Pro while gaming using OBS or Streamlabs?

Firmware update has addressed the autofocus issue. It's just normal levels of trash now, like any other webcam. It was impressively bad before. With that, this is actually a very, very solid webcam. It's also on sale now for half the price ($99), as of this writing. Good deal at that point, IMO.

The artifacts are caused by the sensor’s double exposure to get HDR happening. Had the same thing on an Ecomsystems cam I reviewed a while back.

The Kiyo pro and avermedia pw513 are not even doing 60fps, you can clearly see if you go frame by frame. To fix that I have to disable low light compensation on my Brio and I assume those webcams suffer from the same issue.

If all I needed was something for gaming commentary, I'd consider since I find a lot of lighting distracting (partially b/c my monitor has a nasty glare) and I also wouldn't be in full screen so 1080p would be fine. However, the price is kind of high since I'm not earning money right now

@@SuperLotus Then I'd say go for the Logitech C922. Or if you wanted to push the boat out go for a cheap alternative to the Elgato Camlink and get a video camera like a Canon Vixia HF R800 or GoPro Hero 5 (watch Alpha Gaming's video on the GoPro as a webcam to see results).

TBH colour accuracy doesn't bother me with a webcam. You can go all out if you wish, but it will NEVER beat a dslr or studio production camera. I do however love the silky fps of the PW315. It would be my personal choice.

no one knows what the sticky film is for apparently, its there to let you install your devices without leaving it covered in fingerprints and dirt, then once you install the product you remove the film and thats how you have a clean install. everyone rips off the plastic film right before they start handling it.....

2 years late but I bought this cam and for some reason idk if it’s the software razer has but when I have it on 60 fps it’s really laggy like slow motion and when I put it on 30fps it’s decent for a little bit but then lags when I move really fast or some what fast it shows me move in slow motion I even upgraded my cpu and does the same thing 🤦‍♂️

When I had the normal Kiyo, it had terrible issues where it would reset my manual settings every-time I closed the preview window in Synapse. That combined with general Synapse terribleness will likely keep me far away from anything Razer for a while.

I have Victure SC35 ... It's 1080p 30fps. Even though it is 'cheap' (under $40) it works well for me. One issue I have is in OBS most settings are 'locked' out. Some settings you can change but other items that are listed are simply 'non-functional' :(

The advertising for a surveillance sensor, is because of the low light capabilities. A surveillance vs a smartphone sensor is not that different in image quality One is designed for better sensitivity, the other for resolution.

I got the Kiyo Pro and tbh it's actually really good now they fixed a couple of things (settings save to camera and AF fixed in firmware update) - but I'm trying to source a HuddleCamHD NDI for work because it's a game changer for lecture capture in smaller rooms. Considering there's one place I can find one for sale in the UK (and they don't tell you stock levels) I suspect most if not all of the stock has gone to Education and corporate customers. I'm gonna contact HuddleCam directly and see if we can source a demo unit.

I can't do business with Razer. I paid for their PC audio software (to unlock the features the free version didn't offer). Razer decided to update the software. They gave it a new name, with the exact same features and discontinued support for the previous version (that I'd paid for). This lack of support is important because nearly every Windows 10 (pronounced: "malware") update would break something with the Razer software. So, I contact Razer asking about a discount on the replacement software that was exactly the same as what I'd already paid for once. Nope. No dice. Thanks for buying the previous version, but kindly go frack myself. I'd pointed out that I also had purchased Razer peripherals and that they'd lose all my business forever if they wouldn't give a discount on the forced re-purchase. Still nope. OK, it was fun while it lasted, but with terrible support, poor customer service, and trying to bilk loyal customers, Razer will never get another penny from me.
