Dissassiciative personality disorder is a state of mind where part of your "personality" personality breaks of due to trauma to protect the body. It's not uncommon to those who suffer regular body and mental trauma to suffer from tis. Fugue state is when your mind just goes blank, nothing left of what you had, just a blank slate.

That's been a problem with DW since the mid-Moffat era. Plots aren't allowed time to breathe or develop anymore; the audience is just strapped to a rollercoaster with no brakes and the episode warps through at top speed from start to finish. If you go back and look at the early RTD episodes like _"The Unquiet Dead,"_ or _"The Empty Child,"_ the audience is slowly introduced to the plot, we learn more about what's happening as the Doctor does, and there is a satisfactory build up to the final act. Unfortunately NuWho's latest target audience are the generation of instant gratification and zero attention spans, so everything must be constantly flashing, buzzing, beeping, exploding, etc for them not to fall over in their own drool.

@ANIpJs7 жыл бұрын
The Newt And actually as hinted at in the classic series with the unrealized plans for the companion Ace, it's possible for a human to also become a Time Lord (at least of sorts). The Plan was that the Doctor was grooming her to enter the Time Lord Academy and become a human-time lord. Plus in the new series with River it's proven that a human can also have the ability of regeneration. However River is a mutated human from being conceived in the T.A.R.D.I.S. while it is in flight in the Time Vortex. So it's not 100% what exactly has to happen to allow a human to gain that ability, since unlike traditional Time Lords River was born with the ability but it was never stated exactly how many regenerations she could've be capable of beyond the three we saw (the normal Melody to child/teen Melody (the black one...sorry if that sounds racist but I can't think of how to phrase that otherwise to River) then shortly after the final time she sacrificed the rest of her regenerations to save The Doctor. Come to think of it Jenny was born with that ability as well, but it seems to be a lesser version since she didn't completely change. Point is anything is possible in this show and now I kinda want to see the concept explored in greater capacity on the show.
@buddyclem73287 жыл бұрын
Jerrod Schembs Good points with lots of details. Everyone who joined the new series seems to forget (for the most part) that The Doctor is half human. Therefore everything you say makes perfect sense to me, and you introduced some new ideas to me that I had not thought of before.

The worst part about trauma is you can not run away from it. You can try to ignore it, try to hide, even try to deny its existence. But it is always there lurking in the dark quiet corner of your conscience. Always ready to strike. Breaking open wounds you thought healed. In those quiet moments of thought. It comes back to haunt us. Feasting on the same canvas. Well maybe I went a bit deep there, but I will not say how you feel, because everybody is different. All I am saying is after losing my Mother this year I have found out a lot of the characteristics.

@@sirblankett nah we know that's just chibbers making the shit up as he goes along, nor Davies or Moffat could foresee what shitstorm chibnall would bring to the show. This story is great as it is, wouldn't make sense to be a past incarnation either since the doctor disproved it. But you never know with chibnall....

@@sirblankett Yeah if both chibnall and whitaker can leave and take these new writers along with them, then there could be hope. And if they could stop tryna make there be a lesson to be learnt from each episode that would help. Came to watch Doctor who for the excitement of an adventure, not to be shown episodes of weird plastic things (Praxeus) or being in Punjab or 60s America with the stupidest villain ever.... at least make a better villain and plot if you're gonna do those kind of episodes. Everything needs to change

I rewatched the episode today for David Morrissey and somehow remembered it all when it's like 5 years old! lol. David Morrissey was amazing in it! Just as amazing as The Governor in The Walking Dead, I need to see like everything he's done! lol. He's hot
@michaelfraser107311 ай бұрын
It’s such a fascinating detail that Jackson Lake only got information from the info stamp. The bravery to fight the Cybermen, the bravery to protect Rosita, the courage to do what was right……that was all him.

Agreed! And people are saying that it would be cool if he was the next Doctor and I can't disagree that he wouldn't be good but I hated him on TWD so much it wouldn't be right
@megashorts6 жыл бұрын
All those years later, it does make me wonder how many of the doctors are actually shown on that infostamp. You can hear it playing well after Jackson Lake sees the 10th Doctor on it. Given The Warrior/War Doctor's absence between the 8th and 9th's (although he was written into the canon at the time), maybe it's only doctors that have met the Cybermen? At least from existing episodes and other media considered as part of the show's continuity.

Saw this in another comment by someone called Richard Smith, but I thought I'd pass it on... What if the Doctor regenerates using Jackson Lake's face to remind himself that not everyone can be saved just like Peter Capaldi's face was the father from Pompeii to remind himself that he should always save someone?

I feel sorry for Peter Cushing. He did maybe three films portraying the doctor but is left off of he list and isn't recognised by even the BBC. Poor guy. Can you just imagine: "I played the Doctor""Oh, on what show?""...Doctor Who - movies actually""...Nope. You didn't. The BBC have a list of the doctors, and you're not on it."Obviously this wouldn't happen now, he passed away in 1994, but still...
@Leinad00018 жыл бұрын
+L Lily actually it was 2 films. A third was planned but scrapped due to poor reception of the second. plus he never made mention of them in his autobiography

+Dan Johnson but I do see where you are coming from, there is a theory going round that he's the alternate Tenth Doctor and that could be plausible
@lilybridger35888 жыл бұрын
Huh. I was so sure that it was three films. But it still kind of sucks that a lot of 'Whovians' have never even heard of him. And a lot more only care about the recent or attractive doctors. There were a few doctors that I would love to ignore, but they all deserve acknowledgement for their part within this franchise.
@Leinad00018 жыл бұрын
+L Lily I can't ignore any Doctors, they all brought something to the table even Colin Baker. Patrick Troughton will always be my favourite But yeah The Peter Cushing films were pretty good
@lilybridger35888 жыл бұрын
I agree. Colin Baker is possibly my least favourite, but he only provided what the writers asked. They were all written to different standards with different traits... They definitely brought something to the table, you're right. Patrick Troughton was actually pretty good, I agree with that too. I loved the Brigadier though and loved that he popped up with more than just one doctor and even made an appearance SJA.
