I believe the NFA is unconstitutional and now, with the advent of modern ATF approved technology, is completely irrelevant and obsolete. Yup, it needs to go the way of the Dodo. ***I screwed up the inflation calculation by using the car value and not the tax value. Here's the correct value: data.bls.gov/c...

"In most of 1500s Germany, swords were banned (if you were a commoner), but knives were still allowed. So, the peasants would forge long blades with a knife handle instead of a sword's handle and hilt. Weapons bans didn't even work before gunpowder became common." -Pavel 2018 Bre I read the responses, this is not a good example of a weapons ban.

Hey Brian. I hope this still helps. The weapon Pavel was talking about is the "Langes Messer" (long knife) or "Großes Messer" (big knife). The largest two-handed variant was called "Kriegsmesser" (war-knife). You can read about it on Wikipedia. Sadly the English article (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messer_(weapon) ) does not mention much about the legal situation in the late middle ages. The German article (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Langes_Messer ) mentions that it is not really known why these weapons were made that way. They speculate that the story about the ban on swords is not very likely. In fact in some German cities at the time it was forbidden to NOT own martial weapons. The German article describes the Messer as a way for smiths to create sword-like weapons without being in the sword-smiths guild. This article on the other hand: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauernwehr contradicts that. The "Bauernwehr" (farmer's/peasent's defense) is the German word for all Messers (the weapons we are talking about) and variants of the Messer. In that article a ban on double-edged swords is mentioned. That ban was circumvented by carrying single-edged blades like the Messer. I tend to believe there was some kind of ban. I don't think it is a coincidence the Messer was a weapon of the lower estates. In medieval depictions you often see peasents using them while the nobility carries swords. But I don't know for sure and it seems the historians aren't sure either. So maybe it is not the best example for weapon bans not working.

Its cause the court system is too politicized. The Supreme Court is even afraid to hear gun cases because of the backlash if they follow the Constitution. Sad state of affairs, but the law of the land right now is that arms are a privilege rather than a right. Been a while since the government even though about, let alone followed, the constitution when it comes to gun laws.

Oh no he shouldered it! Or did he? IDK touching is a very specific term. What if its .01 inch away from his shoulder. What if its .001 or .00001 or .00000001 inches from the shoulder? Some in physics believe it is impossible to actually touch something. A great friend of mine is an ATF agent and runs a training school for LE on ATF rules and regulations. He told me the same thing, he tells every officer he trains don't make that arrest because how are you ever going to prove it was touching their shoulder, not their shirt, but actually physically up against their shoulder? Unless they have bruising that is in the shape of that brace its not worth it.

Then there's the whole losing your job for arresting someone over a non-law. And the lawsuit over the civil rights violation that would follow. While the ATF does have latitude over interpretation of the federal firearms laws. They cannot take a word from the dictionary and give it legal standing or create or amend the law without going through the correct process. None of which the opinion letter did.

@huntermorera
@huntermorera 7 жыл бұрын
I think the point my friend was trying to make from the ATF was that it would stick, their wouldn't be enough evidence to charge the person. It happens all the time I am sure, a superior looks at the facts of the arrest and the person has to be let go. The point is that it would be really hard to hold someone criminally liable for this offense. Especially with a decent attorney.
@MatteoSixSeventyFour
@MatteoSixSeventyFour 7 жыл бұрын
That's not the same. But arrest of a law that doesn't exist is entirely different. This is why the ATF later said that this would not be applied unless the suspect was arrested on other weapons charges. The whole thing is an interesting word game and some laughable semantics. This is why no one has been charged with the malarky since the opinion letter. Yet there are plenty of cases/instances where they could have.

Propose this to the government: They will remove all restrictions and extra taxation on automatic firearms for 5 years. During that time, the bill is on probation. If nothing happens during that time, the bill goes into full efect. But, If any incident of mass murder or using a legally acquired automatic takes place, the bill get immediatly revoked, all automatics sold in that period are recalled of course, and a new bill baning all magazine fed military style rifles is installed. How many of you would get behind something like that? Notice i made the distinction of "legally acquired" firearms. This is so no gang related or normal criminal incidents are considered. This is just for those law abiding citizens that go postal. Every criminal on earth started his "career" as a law abiding citizen first. I often hear the rationalization that criminals have access to guns at will, and that laws don´t work on them. However, many of the mass shooting incidents are perpetrated by law abiding citizens that either buy their guns, or use the ones from a family member/friend, to commit their crime. I´m willing to bet that in the first year of fully automatic weapon freedom, the US would see massive casualties due to it.

The brace never touched his shoulder. Braces or stocks do not "touch" shoulders at all. All material is made out of atoms. Atoms contain electrons that surround the atoms. These electrons all have negative charges. As you "touch" the brace to your shoulder, the electrons from the atoms of the brace and the atoms from your shoulder get close but never touch because they are repelled at the atomic level because the electrons repel eachother. Try forcing two heavy duty negative magnets to touch. What you "feel" is the friction between the repelling atoms and electrons. You never really touch anything. NFA OBSOLETE!

Horseshit. Try that defense in any assault/sexual misconduct case. "I didn't hit him, the atoms in my hand never touched the atoms in his face" "I didn't grope her, my hand atoms never touched her tit atoms". See how far that gets you.

Joe Lei Except that we all know it isn't physically impossible, unless you use an absurdly narrow definition. We all know what touch is. We all know the feeling of a rifle buttstock in the shoulder pocket, and we've all gotten bruises from shooting rifles and shotguns with heavy recoil. Your claim to the contrary is absurd, as I illustrated with my point about assault and sexual misconduct - two other instances where you can get in trouble for touching things. Of course the NFA is absurd and unconstitutional. But it doesn't help to make ridiculous arguments about how you can't actually touch things.

Is MAC leading the way to a legal (i.e. Supreme Court) challenge of the NFA? It appears as if he is publicly challenging NFA laws such that the ATF will need to decide to enforce the law or not. If they attempt to enforce the law, the law under Neil Gorsuch may be considered unconstitutional.

I have a question that could use some seasoned advice, BTW love the channel. I recently purchased an upper for my first ar build and quickly came to the realization that I wanted it to be completed as a pistol for later flexibility. My question is if I where to purchase a virgin completed lower remove the stock would it be considered a pistol? Mind that my upper is 16". Would the end result be classified as a pistol? Add VERTICAL Foregrip equates to firearm. Then finally a stock would produce a rifle correct? With overall length permitting of course.

Worth noting the Fostech echo has an ATF approved safety sear. The reason it got approved is because it actually locks the trigger until the sear is tripped instead of directly locking the hammer, which means it's not readily convertible to auto.

True Dat! It's nice to be on the offensive moving forward, instead of for so many years on our heels, fighting frustratingly backwards. Coming of age during the 90's ban, the post ban era has truly become a renaissance of all things possible for the industry, as well as the many fine folks here in unwavering support of it, and the freedoms we hold as dear to our hearts as the nation they uphold. Thanks again dude, and god bless.

Probably way late on this and somebody has it up already BUT here it is anyways, at some point I can't remember exactly when tho I think it was late 2017 or 2018 the ATF came out and said that the brace was designed to be mounted to the forearm, but it was not illegal to shoulder the brace because that is not it's design to be a butt plate or stock it was meant as a brace, "misuse" of it and shouldering it is your own choice and in no way illegal

Regardless of the clothes, they are always the same kind of people, SS, Gestapo, KGB, Muslim 'morality police', ATF, DEA, Chinese Secret Police, they are all just people on a power trip who are controlled by immoral, cruel, egomaniacal bureaucrats. And when they are called out on their blatant acts against their fellow citizens they always have the same two responses "I was just following orders" or "We did it for the safety of the country and it's citizens". No, soldiers fight for our safety, many police officers (although many also fall into the categories above) firefighters fight for our safety, and civilians fight for our safety and freedom by voting, protesting and making their voices heard!

Just because he mentioned the Dolos and calibers it works with: I have the Dolos Gen2 on an 9MM pistol. Due to it being blowback operated it's a little more jumpy than the locked bolt gas operated systems. Because of this, it likes to work itself loose a little. It works okay, just have to maintain a firm and constant rotational pressure.

Currently saving up for a similar setup to what is shown, minus the removable barrel probably. I had no idea that the echo trigger was actually something you could own without paperwork.
