The NHL should be TERRIFIED of Moritz Seider
#MoritzSeider #Seider #nhl
Moritz Seider is going into his third NHL season and he has already become one of the best two way defensemen in the NHL. Seider contributes to almost every aspect of a game. He blocks a lot of shots, throws big hits, leads the break out, great in special teams, scores goals, and sets up goals. And the amazing part about this is that Seider and the Detroit Red Wings are just getting started. I think that Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings will take the next step now in the 2023-2024 NHL season.

Seider's hits should be studied in hockey coaching. They are absolutely textbook, clean hits that are precise, not overtly hard to cause yourself injury, & contribute to the play in a meaningful way.

I agree completely and well said. Notice how quickly Seider pounces when the opponent puts his head down. It's like a shark with blood in the water. He knows that hit will be effective the second the guard is down. He doesn't go for the big hit in a compromising way. "Intelligently physical" is maybe the best way to put it. I'm happy he's on my side, I know that!

Wings look 100x better than last season. I think this team can be a top 2 team in the Atlantic at least. Raymond and Seider are improving everyday, DeBrincat is looking like the best guy in the league and the goaltending problem is basically gone from looking at the first 4 games.

I think his offensive game is about to pump up this year (not that theres a problem with it) thats going to really solidify him as a top 10 D in the league. I really hope so cause itll forever irritate me to hear bs like "but makar had 180 pts this year" ..... ya cause he is purely offense. We struck oil with this kid. Jack Hughes is the only other player i think thatd be drafted over him but id rather have MO. Everything about him screams "Detroit Red Wings player".

Saying someone like Makar is purely offensive means your don't watch hockey. Purely offensive defenseman are like Gustafsson, Q. Hughes (who has gotten better defensively), Calen Addison and if I looked I could find more, but Makar is very solid defensively. However, Seider is definitely better than Makar defensively, it's just that Makar is extremely strong offensively and just solid defensively, whereas Seider is extremely strong defensively and solid offensively.

It`s very seldom that a big guy like Seider has this skating ability and that hands, that mobility, that physicality and that hockey IQ. Usually players lack at one or two fields and are not as complete as Seider is already. Though he`s still a young D, he plays the game like a veteran, reads plays well and is seldom out of position or gets caught. He`s a bit underated due to the NHL having tons of quality young Ds at the moment. Makar, Dan Fox, Heiskanen, Wrenski, McAvoy, etc. So many good young Ds in the league.

Kronwall's hits were more like assault where Seiders are often self defense, AKA reverse hits. Kronwall would look for players that were moving the puck and he'd hit them in their blind spot. He probably caused some permanent brain damage in a few players. Who was quietly a reverse hit specialist, Pavel Datsyuk. So I'd like to think of Mo as being the best of Lidstrom and Datsyuk.
@ValhallaRaven
@ValhallaRaven 7 ай бұрын
Kronwall’s hits were clean. Because players were often hurt is on them, not Kronwall. He’d line them up down the wing, where they were skating with their head down. The first rule you are taught as a kid, in hockey, is to keep your head up. If you’re playing with your head down and get lit up, it’s on you.
@scowlistic
@scowlistic 7 ай бұрын
Datsyuk would just kinda spring into someone hitting him, they would bounce off him stunned & confused. 😂
@tombarr949
@tombarr949 7 ай бұрын
@@ValhallaRaven That's the narrative: His hits were clean and they only occurred when players were excessively skating with their heads down. If you watched Kronwall he frequently left his feet and he nailed players who were collecting a bouncing puck and/or turning to move up ice. Football is well ahead of hockey on protecting players in vulnerable situations which isn't surprising as NFL got helmets figured out about 40 years before the NHL.

Deep in depth but not in that player to take them over the top. Also they are in a very tough division. @@gabrielidusogie9189just to chime in here. It largely boils down to just watching the game of hockey for a long time. You'll start to identify attributes of players that are highly coveted and just plain special. You start to recognize when players are league average, above average, or elite in each category like skating, shooting, hockey iq etc. Then each category has its own sub category like for example, skating has edge work, stride mechanics, speed, lateral movement etc. I'd suggest watching some of elite prospects youtube to see what they look for. The more hockey you watch, the better you'll understand essentially. If you even have any questions just shoot me a mention here.

@@MaiettaSportsMedia I think we have different definitions of what being in his prime means. For me it's a player that is playing better each season and taking a bigger role on the team. They are moving up. Those are the "prime" years of a player. They plateau when they've hit the consistency of a day to day NHL player. That's when coaches and the league know what the player is and what to expect out of them. After that it's about trying to be consistent for the back end of their career until their body or skills degrade.

He's a great defenseman but the whole top 10 claim from Wings fans is hilarious.

Just saw him in the pre-season and he looks mediocre at best. They are looking for anything to be excited about these days in Detroit.

Last season, he was a defensive liability. He would get out of position and leave Chiarot out to dry. He needs to mature a little more, but I hope he steps forward this season.

@@MrGroyper No... If you watch their play, Chiarot was playing his zone and Seider would vacate his to chase the play leaving his side open. Chiarot would them have to retreat back to cover, but it would be too late. You would see him go over to Seider and tell him he needed to protect his zone first or make sure it was covered. He needs to work on that. Chiarot was often taking the blame because he would see it and try to get back to cover...

#5 wasn't a big personality. He was polite, quiet, and under control, but I guess the personality thing is important to people nowadays. They can literally be a piece of shit as a human, but my God, what a personality!
