The Night Alaska's Most Prolific Serial Killer Was Caught

Beyond Evil

Күн бұрын

Sometimes a serial killer will strike and then lay low for a year or more before killing again. Others will travel from city to city, state to state, staying ahead of those hunting them. Some kill in sprees, rushing to pile up victims before local law enforcement finally catches them.
But what if one was simply hiding among an uptick in violent crimes and homicides in a city, shielded by statistics and a society becoming too used to street violence? That may well have been what happened in Anchorage, Alaska in the summer of 2016.
Join us as we look into the unsettling case of James Dale Ritchie.

Oh he was "provoked", because he knew that he had the weapon with which the murders were committed, and that they could connect him to those crimes. He did not know that he was being stopped for not paying for the taxi because he did not even get out of the taxi. He could only guess why the police stopped him, and when you have 5 murders on your conscience, you very often look over your shoulder and very often become paranoid. And the fact that relatives and friends "can't believe" that he would do something like that - an old story that repeats itself, people confuse emotions with reality. Probably no one but him knew about the demons that ran rampant in his head.

This channel is so left wing it's not even funny anymore. The narrator actually tries to question if whether or not he was the killer in the prior murders at the end. 29:49. Moreover, instead of just calling him out for the evil bastard that he was, the narrator again searches for "Why?" As though there would be a reasonable excuse. This isn't the first time this channel has sympathized for killers of color, nor the first time it ignores race under "specific" circumstances. I'm fully admitting that I 'hate-sub' to this channel.

@@johnq.random1496your statement was almost correct. He was found (and unloaded a clip into a police officer with) the exact gun that was *used* in the murder of the other five people. I agree with you in that I definitely think that he did it. However. There is technically, no matter how small it may be, a possibility that someone else used the weapon to commit the murders. Likely? Obviously not. But he is dead, and because of the nature of this specific crime, there can never be 100% certainty. Not sure why asking why upsets you either, all there is left to do is speculate. Why does any murderer commit murder? There will never be an answer that justifies the act (excluding self defense). Why not ask why?

I have a friend who lived in Alaska for roughly two years, for his work. If I hear his stories; living in the dark for half of the year, and then you have problems sleeping because the sun will not go down. A great part of the people have a drink or drug problem. The temperature goes down so extreme that people who are outside,drunk or stoned, just fall asleep outside and freeze to death.People go so crazy because of sitting inside with the same family members or spouse that they actually attack eachother. He told me things that made my blood run cold. He could not handle it anymore after 2 years and fled to Florida. Cannot say that I blame him.Alaska sounds to me like a hellhole.😮

The thing with serial killers is, the people they know will always say that its "not in their nature" they "never saw it coming", they "cant belive theyd ever do something like this". Its because serial killers are really good at compartmentalizing. More often than not, serial killers dont look or act like what youd think anserial killer does. So it's unsurprising that so many people who knew him say those things. Thats what makes serial killers so insidious.

Extremely gripping! And yes, as others have speculated, the fact he nonchalantly continued walking despite the officer's bullhorn warnings, then calmly turned around, approached the officer and point blank shot at him, undeniably places him as the culprit who murdered those other people. As someone from Anchorage, i would say its a FAR stretch to say it has the same accomidations as any other major city as well as blaming violence rates on gang violence. Thats a line of crap. Anchorage and Alaksa is full of politicians that prefer to see abused children die than become financial burdens on the state. Literal quote from a seated Alaskan elected representative. The mayor swore they would never surrender areas of the city to those that would make it unsafe. Every public park is now unusable due to them closing all the homeless shelters and camps popping up rigjt after. No one can go outside withpjt threat of violence in anchrorage. That being said, DV is still MUCH more deadly in Alaska than gang violence. There are no good arts events, concerts, has some of the worst education systems of any big city, and due to lack of any infrastructure, there is literally zero resources for those suffering from mental health issues, poverty, single parenthood etc.

I think they got the right person. 1. He was out after midnight walking withTHE gun. I also believe he was looking for someone to kill. Of course, this pure speculation on my part. 2. He refused to stop when the police asked him to stop 3. He then turned and unloaded the gun into police car/officer. To me, that pure intent to kill officers without hesitation. 4. Previous 5 people had been killed the exact same way. Unloading all the bullets from the same weapon.

So what I gather about James Ritchie is that he peaked in high school and once he got out of high school all he could think about was the glory days. He never left his home town, always tell people he shoulda went pro but something happened, and he goes to high school parties and bought kids beer so they would think he’s cool. We all know that guy. He should of just deleted himself instead of innocent people. At least he’s gone now. RIP to the victims

There's alot of people that peak early in life, with the rest of it being, well, sh it. Does that mean they should delete themselves out of existence or that they definitely become serial killers? Do you really know how that guy or girl will end up? No, you don't. Period. Good job stereotyping.

I remember I was in Provo Canyon School in 2012 in Springville Utah and it’s one of those tough love schools like Danielle Bergoli went to and the same one Paris Hilton talks about in her documentary. I remember about 10-15 girls there being from Anchorage. All of them had been in some type of “gang” or whatever and most did drugs. I didn’t really think about it then but anchorage does seem to have a lot of crime and troubled youth and violent adults. And drug crime. It’s sad. But same with Canada if I’m being honest. Almost everyone I know from Canada is an addict or criminal of some sort. I did drugs for 10 years and I for some reason was surprised to know about Canada and Alaska. Canada was always the “nice place” and I thought Alaska was more remote and less technological when I was a kid until I was about 22. It’s sad so much of the world has these issues.
@Ainaes-Feline
@Ainaes-Feline 7 ай бұрын
The reason you feel as if everyone in America and Canada are drug and alcohol infested and addicted, is for one reason only. You lived in that world and all you knew was part of that environment. Your view becomes distorted. It will take a bit longer but eventually the longer you stay away and out of that world. The fewer people you get to know are even aware of what you describe and think. Until one day you realise that you can't even think of 1 person to get you the stuff etc and then it's the other way around and finally your world view has adjusted itself to the current situation you're living in. I know from personal experience, I was an alcoholic and my then partner a heroin fiend and if desperate a poly user. I was surrounded by them all I could see where junkies. Now 15 years later the only thing I can tell you for 100% certainty is who is a meth head or heroin not just by their looks but I can recognise it in their voices... that's how fine tuned I had become to that horror show. So hang in there it will righten itself and one day you too can't find a single dealer or homeless junkie. Goodluck and all the best. No matter how hard it is at times it's na thousand times better than with the addiction.

This man had real deep-seated problems that showed in his actions that people blew off. Like his former roommate. She down-played his actions. Like saying, "They all sold drugs." Or when she said he sponsored pitbull fights and how the dog killed a rabbit. She also said the look he had on his face when describing the incident, and she even chuckled. That is not normal behavior. Then her saying he was a Godly man. Yet the signs were visible. Nobody thought to talk to him. The depression he must had gone through when he dropped out of college because he had a hard time at a division 1 school. He must have felt like a failure. He gave up. And everything changed. And nobody paid attention. Sad.
