Looking at it from the refs view Groves took 2-3 heavy shots that rocked his head back but he was still throwing back! Ref should have allowed Froch to finish it.

@@r4v5t4r nothing I said there is funny or untrue, he took 2-3 heavy shots!!! It’s right there in the footage! Froch slowly crept back in to the fight after groves dominated most of it. I’ve watched it multiple times, you can make sarky comments all you like.

That truly was a dreadful stoppage. Groves had knocked Froch down badly earlier in the fight and beat him up for 6 rounds. OK Froch was coming on strong but Groves was firing back, moving, defending himself… simply awful from Foster.

The way the ref 'tried so hard' to check his face after the stoppage and show 'care', was a clear sign of him overcompensating to justify his stoppage, which was obviously paid for.

After all these years that stoppage only gets worse wnd i was fukin fumin after convincing my mates my dad even my sisters to put money on george! He didnt let us down howard did, you get hit in fights anyone who has ever boxed knows you get hit and getting hit hurts and sometimes knocks you off balance but it doesnt mean tour rocked or even buzzed, you should be given the chance to recover! And George wasnt even rocked maybe slightly buzzed... fuck me its terrible watching is as im writing is crazy there is no reason to stop that fight! Especially when you see that carl was actually knocked out for a short period of time just had crazy recovery powers

Very harsh stoppage. The only thing is, from ref's angle, several consecutive shots which bashed George's face form side to side; those can be real brain-injuring shots and in the heat of the moment, maybe he felt it was too much. Or maybe Hearn and co. had discussed brown envelopes in advance, perhaps more likely.

Definitely a terrible stoppage especially after watching Duran vs Davey Moore.. I know they’re different eras but still it just shows you. Watch Gomez v Alex Arthur as Arthur was given incredible opportunity to claw his way back way past the point of no return!
