I was welding up our hay rake one time.... hydro lines were routed through the center frame tube... welding to the outside of that frame and the hydro lines melted internally made for some nice flames and luckily the spray of hydraulic oil put the fire out somewhat quick.... boss comes back and says "I just wish I could have seen your face!" And like you said while it's happening it feels like everything is in slow motion!

I have heard of Huron, I live not too far from there. The old Garner town track is still there, but it's in really bad shape.

Fire is my absolute biggest fear at work, mainly. Due to the fact I work in a mine. Our machines all have ansul fire suppression systems that work great.

I have seen a few through the years and some were bad... I seen a man come out of his truck on fire... he died after a few weeks in the hospital and he was messed up bad... grease fire and leaving the truck to run to keep warm while taking a have to rest

it's an international thing I swear. I've lost a 4400 to an electrical fire that broke out randomly through the night. Buddy lost an 8800 while going down the road to the same thing.

On all my Tractors, Mowers, Forklifts, etc I leave the Neg battery cable clamp loose on the battery. That way it can be yanked off easily. I also take it off after I'm done using the machine and parking it inside. Heard too many stories just like this one over the years.

cant beat a battery isolation switch or "kill switch" for fire prevention

+George Doorley agreed. We disconnect the batteries on our stuff before parking it for the year.

I'm curious did it take much to get the truck back on the road and how long did it take.

I think most of the time was spent cleaning it up after the dry chemical extinguishers. It got new battery cables, underwood insulation and a couple of other things but I think it was out of the shop in just a few days.

I actually had a header gasket burn out on this trip where it connects to the rest of the exhaust, that may be part of the noise!
