I have vague memories of seeing my mom watching 2011 mtv awards and seeing Tyler win back then. I would watch too and when he won I (who was 11) was surprised bc he looked nothing like anyone else, no designer or gold chains lol. I didnt have any access to internet till about 2013. That’s when I started getting into him and the group a lot. Time really flies but I’m glad to have been there to watch the evolution. Cherry bomb will forever be my favorite album from him, that was a great time in my younger years. Also even though he would say crazy stuff I always felt the deeper messages behind the antics especially as a black kid who always was house to house and never had the Jordan’s, etc lol but yea that’s enough

I remember watching that performance the day after it aired, I was so gassed I immediately showed my dad LOL because it reminded me of the energy wu tang sometimes had when they performed (my dad introduced me to wu tang). I really liked Yonkers straight away, I didn't like all the lyrics but: the beat, his voice etc it actually felt special. The Fallon performance felt like that too.
