A great gamecube retrospective, still I don't get what's your problem with Mario Party games, are pretty fun alone or with friends is a fun time, also number 15 of your top 20 has Tales of Symphonia footage instead of Skies of Arcadia Legends xD, anyway great selection for your personal fun gamecube games.

It's mostly a joke that all mario parties are basically interchangeable (they sort of are, at least on the gamecube - you can have fun with any of them), but also that reviewers did complain they were kinda "the same". Also both ToS and SoAL are really good games so I'm going to pretend it was intentional :b

gamecube had defintely 10/10 first party games, but it lacked so much things compared to ps2 and xbox after my opinion. u didnt pick gamecube if u were into online-mulitplayer games or wide liberaly 3 party games, u rather picked xbox or ps2 if u were into sport games, car games, fps games, role playing games , rpg etc. even xbox and ps2 had so many 720p and 1080 i games. when i got a HD tv back in 2006, first thing i did was to put my ps2 with gran turismo 4, went to settings, and took the graphics to 1080 HD. i was fk blown away. im still sad to this day that we gamecube owners didnt get any tennis game like Top spin

PS2 had zero 720P games. Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy were only 2 -games that supported 960i on NTSC. PAL -versions of those were only cropped 480i window on 576i TVs. At least most NGC -games were 480P on NTSC, unlike most PS2 -games.

There were like... 4 (?) games that supported 1080i on the PS2 I think. GT4, Valkyria Profile 2 (only in Japan) and also NHL 2004 and Tourist Trophy. Quite a few xbox games had a 720p (Sega GT online, Ta few Tony Hawk titles and some sports / fighting games) and even 1080i (enter the matrix, two MX racing games, atari anthology and dragon's lair 3D). While 1080i did look decent on HD CRTs (I used to have one), nowadays games like GT4 look better in 480P than they do in 1080i. Also 1080i was, at least in the case of GT4, 576x960 stretched out horizontally by ~3x to get a 16:9 image. That's how they shoved a "1080i" frame into the 4 megs of VRAM the PS2 had. 480p was by far the "sweet spot" for 6th gen games, and from my googling, most Xbox and Gamecube games (though some GC games need to be "forced" via Swiss) just run in 480p mode without issues, while a lot of PS2 games still ran in 480i. If the PS2 had 8MB of VRAM like the early test models, we'd probably see *some* 720p games on it, but most people back then didn't have widescreen, let alone HD TVs, so there wasn't really a point to making games in HD for a lot of devs.

The Gamecube was great. It did almost everything right except for having Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. Poor Gamecube...
@duff012012 сағат бұрын
almost everything right? no online games like the others, no 720p or 1080i games like the others, maximum 360-420p, worst 3party support. yea poor
@M1XART5 сағат бұрын
@@duff0120 XBOX did not have even 480P on Europe or on other PAL -regions. PS2 looked poor on PAL -regions as it lacked 60Hz support on most games (unlike DC/NGC/XBOX). 3Party support was decend on Cube, NGC had EA unlike DC.

I purchased a GameCube the week that it was released. I like it well enough but Nintendo did everything wrong during the GameCube era. Letting Microsoft buy Rare even though Rare carried the N64. Luigi's Mansion is a solid game but a terrible launch title. It's not a system seller type of game. The mini discs were a mistake. Super Mario Sunshine was a rushed and broken mess that failed to live up the the innovative Mario 64. It's decent but nothing more. No matter how much anyone loves Wind Waker, it was the wrong game for that time. People wanted a game based on that Space World demo. Nintendo did everything wrong during the GameCube era and that's why it sold 10 million less than the N64 and was outsold by newcomer Microsoft's XBOX. It was an embarrassing time for Nintendo. Only the Wii U was a more embarrassing time. The Virtual Boy was not their mainline console so it flopping wasn't that big of a deal. I really hope that Nintendo has finally learned their lesson after the enormous success of The Switch. Be creative and the quirky Nintendo that we know and love but also sometimes you just have to give the people what they want alongside giving them what they didn't know they wanted. Continue to be balanced.

Nintendo gamecube needed 32-MB main ram and a DVD based off DVD ram cart 2.0 disc or dual layer mini dvd. Gamecube did better with 3rd party support that was lost during the n64 era. However they lost rare as there 2nd party developers and never release more 1st party games for teens and adults. Also, one more Mario and proper zelda game during its middle lifespand.

System had enough RAM. That's why first -party games don't have any loading times & NGC -version of Resident Evil 4 has better sound effects than PS2 -version, for example. But yeah, converting from PS2 & XBOX would had been easier if NGC would had been more similar tech as those.
@benyboybob17 сағат бұрын
But then if they went with the DVD player, the cost of the system would have been more for the licence. Furthermore Nintendo has a rule that it ALWAYS makes money on hardware. So it likely would have ended up costing more the PS2 if they went that route. No offence but this video is really showing you need to more research about what you’re talking about…
@Kurriochi17 сағат бұрын
I actually did quite a bit of research into the DVD licensing scheme. Here's what I found out: The remote for the og Xbox was where MS "hid" the license costs. You couldn't play DVD videos without the remote... and the remote seemed to cost 20$ or so. Going onto the main site of the DVD6C licensing group, the license had these things in it: DVD video player and ROM drive: 4% of net selling price (minimum 4$) DVD ROM disc: 7.5$ per disc. So, in total, if the gamecube was like, 240$ retail BEFORE licensing costs are introduced, they'd still make a profit considering the additions don't add an extra 40$ in terms of parts. Then add the 10$ licensing cost and kaboom: 250$ Gamecube. The 250$ price tag was just a rough estimate, btw. The price could probably be lower considering the bulk prices Nintendo could get on the SDRAM chips and also the fact they wouldn't need to reinvent the wheel with Panasonic, though I'd imagine Panasonic would still be providing them with, this time, full sized, DVD drives. source for the DVD drive licensing info: www.dvd6cla.com/news/001.html

most overrated nintendo console of all time TBH, the first party library really isn't all that great and the controller feels like a happy meal toy gameboy player is still really cool though.

I don't think a system that came in last in sales behind its only competitors can be considered "overrated". On the contrary, most now consider the GCN home to many hidden gems and outright stellar first party titles. I suppose this new counter culture surrounding the system is what you're referring to, but that culture has been earned in all the subsequent years following its release
@aegisleague40539 сағат бұрын
@@MrAweeze Yes, I'm referring to the counterculture. There's a lot of revisionist history and vocal fans who weren't actually around.
