Something worth noting: at 16:10, Beezy shouldn't have known the target of the Grist ability when deciding whether or not to do the Viscera Seer + Activated Sleeper stuff, since all that is done in the Grist ability is optionally sacrificing a creature. If he did those abilities in response to the sac, Cam would have had the option to either choose not to sac a creature, or choose a different creature to sacrifice, and if Beezy had done the abilities with the reflexive trigger from Grist on the stack, Cam would have had the ability to activate his artifacts, since there's another round of priority before another Ouphe hits the table. EDIT: reflexive, not delayed
@keepingitcasualmtg2 жыл бұрын
Was it not that Beezy was responding to the target of the reflexive trigger and Cam allowed the "Protean Hulk" trigger to resolve not knowing that Beezy would grab his own Collector Ouphe during resolution?
@dsnavely132 жыл бұрын
@@keepingitcasualmtg Given that Collector Ouphe didn't hit the graveyard until after the Viscera Seer activations, I don't think so. Additionally, after the seer activations finished, Cam also could sac the Ouphe to kill Beezy's Ouphe, funnily enough.
@keepingitcasualmtg2 жыл бұрын
@David Snavely maybe I'm misunderstanding how reflexive triggers work. Once Cam sacs the Ouphe wouldn't that trigger the ability to target a creature to destroy? Or are the targets picked during the resolution of the Grist ability?
@dsnavely132 жыл бұрын
@@keepingitcasualmtg Grist's ability activates, players get priority, then the ability resolves and Cam chooses a creature to sacrifice, if any. Then the destroy trigger goes onto the stack, and targets are chosen then.
@ary314152 жыл бұрын
@@dsnavely13 Ouphe was sacrificed at 15:52. The Viscera Seer activations were in response to the reflexive trigger, which already had a target

Great game and I loved seeing my boy Karador in action, my favorite commander. For when you don't have the Survival to be able to freely discard a creature I play Body Snatcher in my Karador deck. I have used it many times to get the Protean Hulk out of my hand or in your case you could use it to Discard the Blood Artist, then Sac it to Reanimate the Hulk and then continue to search whatever else you needed to win the game. With your updated list it's less important now but it is worth Tooling with.

Wouldn't Beezy's Necropotence discards not get a void counter? Because instead of going into the graveyard it goes into exile instead. So since they never hit the graveyard in the first place, the Dauthi Voidwalker can't put a counter on it.
@charohazard Жыл бұрын
necro is a trigger that occurs when a card gets discarded to grave not a replacement so the card would be discarded, dauthi sees they being sent to the grave and they are exiled before they hit the grave so the necro trigger never even goes on the stack

Such a great game. I still have an Abzan cEDH deck that USED to be Karador but is now Tymna Kodama just for value. Karador is too slow for the format in my opinion, and the card draw/permanent value from Tymna Kodama respectively is much more supportive to getting a win off the ground early than late game Karador is. I love Karador. He was my commander of my graveyard combo deck for about seven years. But cEDH is a different beast, and the hardest change was made to my command zone. GGs guys! unsure what the decklist looked exactly like--but i think the hulk player (beezy) could have won if they fetched yawgmoth, thran physician with their copied hulk. yawg's "pay a life, sac a creature:draw a card" ability + their scry would have let them go grab 4 cards (mox diamond, land, chrome mox, random black card) with which they could have cast the blood artist from hand and won the game with the saffi+karmic loop. may have missed some of these going to the yard though. in any event, hulking for teeg to prevent a wipe like culling ritual would have been nice too. Grat gameplay!

How does the Necropotence exile effect and Dauthi Voidwalker work?
@fosterdawson73392 жыл бұрын
So Necropotence is a triggered ability that happens when the discarded cards hit the graveyard. Dauthi voidwalker replaces them going to the graveyard with exiling them with void counters.
@therealax62 жыл бұрын
I posted a reply, but I got it completely wrong! My fault for not reading the Necropotence oracle text. Necropotence's effect is a triggered ability ("whenever you discard a card..."), but Dauthi Voidwalker's effect is a replacement effect ("...exile it instead"). Dauthi's replacement effect applies as the card is discarded, the card never hits the graveyard and Necropotence never triggers.

Gitrog is the kind of budget deck you can put 50 lands into and be fine, I tend to recommend it to beginners in EDH. I play Korvold and get a similar reaction, LOL, but I do have Gitrog in it as back up so that might have something to do with it also. I designed the deck around the concept that your going to eat all your lands like Galactus showed up to galaxy wide planet buffet, it's a fun riskay' way to play :P
