An honest, and amusing, review. That hill cracked me up. But I beg to differ regarding the side steps. As a vertically challenged person, I think they’re great!!!🤪 Good job, guys 👍

For people who were gonna buy a 2x4 SV and lift it and change the wheels anyway. If you never really go off road but fo occasionally need the extra clearance just for going over curbs or driving on very poorly kept driveways, work fields or camping roads. I'm thinking about a pro -x just because it's the only package w the 360 cam and the wireless phone charger at the dealership right now. I'll probably remove the steps and throw couple recovery boards in on long trips or in winter and should be fine. The only con really is the higher ride height lessens it's utility to use as a work truck because it's harder to reach over the side and access the bed....also probably hurts the mpg and ride quality some. I I tried to build an SV up to a Pro X, you CAN get the wireless charger but you can't get the 360 cam. Also in doing an "apples to apples" best I could build of am SV to a pro x, by the time you add the wheels, body graphic and the nearest set of options to a comparable pro x I was OVER the price of the pro x....didn't pick up anything extra, was still missing the 360 cam, orange accents, bilstein shocks and hancook tires etc.... all I had accomplished was lowering the truck a little and giving up some arguably cool stuff while somehow spending more... You win some you lose some. All that BS aside I guess it let's you drive a little faster over rough (not slick) terrain while looking a lot better. Its a lot for appearsmce sake alone but then again they charge like $1,700 for the black edition which is purely an appearance pckg with the same led headlight upgrade so... But no.....in all honesty the 360 cam was crucial for my wife (and they ARE handy both in cities snd on trails or even in some work svenarios) and the only way to get that option is a pro x convenience package which requires a pro x.

I have a pro x also with the premium package, actually traded in my dessert runner to get this. I'm a highway driver and live in so. Fla. so I'm not really in dire need for 4wd. It's a good looking fun pick-up that I got on a crazy deal because nissan is offering 90% residuals on their leases right now. 308/mo for this exact model minus the sidesteps and Bed horn.

I have a 22 frontier and after a month the steering feels normal...it actually loosens up and you also get used to it but some of those electric steering set ups are too loose and feel awkward

I have a 23 pro 4x, I'm a truck driver, this feels like a mini version of the mack truck I drive, I love that it feels like what it is.
@bengleckl1877
@bengleckl1877 Жыл бұрын
@@tommycasidy3031 I had to trade mine in sadly ...after the parking pawl recall my tranny made some odd noises when shifting into gear ,the steering wheel still vibrated like a vibrator and everytime I went to the dealer they damaged the vehicle and/or didn't finish the job .they'd leave sensors unplugged,things bent,ruined brand new rims etc when I had a Tacoma I traveled all.over to different dealers for the shuddering issue so I refuse to go to multiple dealers anymore.if the dealer.i buy from ends up doing half assed service then I simply trade it in and try somewhere else .I must admit tho that out of all the midsized trucks the new frontier is number one to me .if they ever get rid of that roughish idle/steering wheel vibe, I may get one sometime down the road ..at the moment I have a newer ram 1500 and love it .

If you experience any roughish idle or steering wheel vibe try adding a.few.echaust dampers to the exhaust .it took about 75% of my vibe away .on the older models with the same issue they had a tsb where they did the same thing to rectify the issue .

Super fun review, this is the way it's done in Texas i guess ;) Why Nissan did not throw a rear locker in this 2wd will always remain to me a mystery, they would have had such a success on those.

Hey thanks for watching! Fingers crossed that the locker becomes available in the future.

If you put it in tow mode it'll not only give a much better 0-60 time it'll shift better & hold the lower gears better for more spirited driving also the even better upgraded nismo shocks with external resivors & are adjustable to lift/level those shocks go nice with the lightweight nismo wheels as well remember you can get those nismo upgrades & still be less expensive than top trim Tacoma the frontier is a rugged & honest old school truck it's not for people looking for a Tesla it's just a great old school truck with a few creature comforts & nearly as reliable as a Toyota if properly maintained great bang for the buck before this truck I wasn't a Nissan fan at all but its almost like a modern Dakota if they weren't discontinued Dana rear Mercedes tranny Bilstein shocks nice interior all adds up to nod to Dakota if ya don't know why I say that research it similar components & rugged looks.....

Enjoy your videos just found your channel:) With some "faux" LSD's you have to turn the traction control off for it to kick in, not sure if you did, have to do that on the 3rd Gen Tacoma's anyways, and it's decently effective. Anyways subscribed:)

Oh totally, we have also been really surprised with the faux LSDs in the past. This hill just wasn’t having it in 2wd with out enough momentum to damage something. Thanks for watching and subbing! Stay tuned for more trucks on the hill coming soon.

I don't think this needs side steps unless lifted higher. Not a fan of the sports rail. I like to use the bed. So I'd rather have a cover.

Had no idea they made it this truck 2 wheel drive , i just have seen 4 pro X , which model this one competing? Having this kind of upgrades and don’t have 4 wheel not makes sense at all in my opinion. I own a 4 x by the way. And Nissan doesn’t have this option in the build your own anymore? Ty for the video.

Use the auto-stick to hold it in gear on the hill. I’m surprised you failed so spectacularly.
@TexasTruckChannel
@TexasTruckChannel 2 жыл бұрын
The limitation on this hill climb had nothing to do with gearing and everything to do with 1 wheel drive on a loose surface. The 4x4 version would have had no issue, or a 2wd with a rear locker.

If you want to compete with the Tacoma ground clearance is a must. Nissan dropped the ball in this regard. Tacoma's are probably driven on most of the five continents on the planet and Toyota build the Tacoma for world success. Ford's Ranger and the Colorado have adapted to offering a little more ground clearance realizing many are drawn to the Tacoma for this reason. The Frontier's chassis is proven to take the modifications of suspension lift well. but my first look would be at a Tacoma for off road capabilities.

I leased a Pro4X and traded in my 2020 Ranger. I like the Nissan very much, road manners are better, gas mileage is the same. I would purchase one, but I’m waiting to see the Ranger Raptor before I commit to either.
