Looking at the trucks on 1221 they look like they are spread farther apart than 503 so they might be able to use that switching alter metal

#1221 with such perfect EMD music. It's going to be interesting to see how many cars get picked up at LP since it's been at least a week since they had service. Even the storage boxcars are expected to be moved promptly as the leasing firm isn't making money if they're not at their nee assignment. @2:50 on the left side of the picture there is plenty of smoke was your buddy in the area for an encore fire? Looking forward to resuming the chase

There are a number of branch lines that are used exclusively for car storage. It's called, "revenue enhancement."

Those box cars have NOKL reporting mark -- they belong to a RR in Oklahoma. Seems weird.

NOKL leases out their reporting marks to Finance firms who own/lease railcars, but are not common carriers themselves. For example, GE Capital pays NOKL for their reporting mark, then leases the cars to other railroads for their use. That's why NOKL is seen on all sorts of freight cars all over North America.

In the description it is noted "Headed South". Specifically starting at 10th St on south side of Channing, MI. Jason then makes stops at various crossings along the way, with the last at Merriman Rd with the mech. bell crossing signals.

I don't believe they own them. One of the freight car leasing companies owns the cars and pays to use the marks.

Now, if ELS would get their act together (fat chance of that ever happening!), and bring back 402, 600, and put a couple more of those nice SD9 in service..........they also have an "A-B-A" F-7 set hidden way in the back boonies, painted in the old Illinois Central passenger scheme.

@erie910 i dont think so, last i heard a few years ago, was that 600 was having cooling system issues, and considering how ELS does their upkeep on those aging engines, 600 might be somewhere in the back 40 at ELS shops/headquarters. But they sure surprised the diesel exhaust outta everybody when 1221 started being used😀😀🤔❗

Actually Great Northern Railroad livery. 3 units in that color scheme other than SD40-2 which has BNSF paint scheme.

Wrong. A lot of applications for boxcars. Those hicubes are too new to be scrapped!!!
