You'll learn from each mistake you make and improve. That is a super technical course (I raced it last year in the 40+ 1,2's). My advice is to stay closer to the front, pedal through the turns you can and not let the gaps open. You'll save precious energy for the last lap. You kind of let yourself get gapped off by riding too far back behind riders that couldn't keep up. Live and learn

Good stuff! Coming from a long course triathlon background where there isn't any drafting, it is a bit of a different animal. Energy conservation is the name of the game. I thought you did pretty good, don't beat yourself up so much, it's fun learning new things and not being the best at them. You didn't even get dropped off the back, that is a humbling experience. :P You get dropped and then it's essentially an FTP test for the next 20 minutes just for prides sake. Keep up the good work.
