Rana, don’t even joke about leaving that couch! I can’t lose my favorite Normie! Your reactions made me happy, as always. The discussion at the end had me smiling and laughing, I love that the four of you have such different thoughts and perspectives. What I love most is how into the show you get, because it’s amazing and deserves that devotion. And Rana? Please don’t ever apologize for screaming. Your screams and yells and jumps make me feel better about my own when watching a show or movie. We are so in sync! Don’t ever change. Now begins the long wait for the final episode. From what I understand, it actually wasn't Crunchyroll's fault with how late the dub came out. According to Jason DeMarco, who works on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block, which has premiere rights for the Attack on Titan dub (meaning they have to air the episode before Crunchyroll can stream it), the Japanese rights holders (in this case, Kodansha) have to approve the release of the dub before it can actually happen. Unfortunately, also according to DeMarco, Kodansha was dragging their feet a _lot_ with this. In my opinion, Kodansha may have been trying to live vicariously through the dub. Their original intention with the sub was to release both specials at the same time, but that wasn't able to happen, so they tried to do the same with the dub, and that didn't pan out either due to the long delay with the second part of the sub.

The outside world doesn’t need to be wiped out to ensure the survival of Paradis. You don’t kill everyone inside a nation in order to beat them. All Eldia had to do was wipe out key strategic enemy military infrastructure. That would cripple any attempt to retaliate from Marley. It’s not like the Global Alliance has the firepower that could stand up to Eldia’s colossal titans. And let’s not forget Eldia can call on the colossals anytime they want with the founding titan and a titan with royal blood. As for Eren, no amount of trauma can justify murder. People all around the world have suffered. Eren is killing them too.

I love the scene of Eren apologizing to Ramzi so much, because it also reveals another facet of this whole thing: Another motive for doing this. As Eren says here, while protecting the people of Paradis is a part of why he's doing all this, it's only just that: a PART. He has another selfish goal underneath that. He says that, while he grew up with Armin, he read the stories that told him of what existed outside the walls. Such wonders, amazing sights that no one has seen before. Things that he wants to explore with his people, his friends. This is why he wanted to fight the Titans: to be able to leave the walls, and just see what's out there. And when he got his father's memories, when he learned the truth of the world outside the walls, he was DISAPPOINTED. He resented the fact that humanity existed and thrived outside the walls, he hated that there was a world out there that wasn't his and his people's. And he made a wish... that that world, would be wiped away. So his people could fulfill the dream he had of discovering and exploring the world that he had since he was a kid. This is why we get a flashback to Eren describing what those unknown wonders will be, just after we see the full scope of the rumbling, in this episode. "Water that glows like fire, fields of ice, sandy snowfields... ...to witness all that... was to know the greatest freedom the world had to offer." "WE'RE HERE! WE'RE FREE! We found it! Somewhere we can look out and see everything!" His projection of his younger self is seeing the trampled, devasted world as the empty treasure waiting for his people that he always dreamed of. Even outside of the conflict between Eldia and Marley, even outside of wanting to protect Paradis and his people, there's a part of him that wants this. Exactly this. And it was that scene with Ramzi and this scene of him finally seeing his "freedom" that made me fall in love with a VERY early line change the dub made, that I always disliked before. It became a line of accidental genius, since they wouldn't have known the result of the story back then. Back in Season 1, around episodes 10-12(I forget which one exactly), we have a scene of Eren in his house, in his mind. This is during the first time he intentionally transformed into a Titan, and has lost control. In this mindscape, he "hears" Armin questioning him on why he joined the scouts, why he even wanted to fight Titans in the first place. Why he was so intent on leaving the prison and cage of the walls behind, when they were the only thing keeping them safe from the Titans. Eren's response, translated from the original Japanese, is "because I was born into this world!" This was changed in the dub, and I was always annoyed at that, because of the fact that that phrase, "because I was born into this world", became a sort of arc phrase, and recurring theme, of the story. We hear many people espouse the same thing multiple times, all for different reasons, and it sucked that the very introduction of the phrase that would be revisited so much was changed. Now, though, I think I like the new dub line more: "Because the world beyond the walls is my birthright!" He absolutely, truly believes this, and that winds up tying in perfectly with his current mindset. It's amazing in hindsight.

There is something that many people do not understand, and that is that Eren is not only affected by his past memories (death of his mother or Team Levi) but also by his future memories (the rumble). For Eren, a being who knows everything, present actions lose meaning, since everything is pre-established, no matter what he does, everything will lead to his death. There are no options, he knows that they will kill him and that he must do that, because that is what he has to do and that is what they will come to.

The staggered episodes/chapters and "final" season part 1 etc really soured the experience for me. This is a plot heavy show, with lots of deatails, and it is more impactful to remember and relate everyone's relationship with each other. The horrible gaps in releases screwed the pacing to high hells. I understand taking time to work on the final product. Take all the time you need, finish it, and release it in a regular flow. Now that I think about it, Floch is the only living human who knows what Erwin said during the death charge.I love Floch's development. He goes from the coward and is afraid to die for someone's cause to a soldier ready to defend his cause to the death. He was a true soldier who knows the meaning of " IKARE, SAKEBE, and TATAKAE" when there is no hope and SUSUME at all costs💣✊ by the way,Japanese dub is so so much better💯

Eren doesn't know the future beyond his current present, because he's the last heir to the Attack Titan and Founding Titan(at this point). His past self can see NOW as the futre, but his current self can't see beyond his current life. If someone theoretically inherited the Attack Titan, he would be able to see the future through their memories. So, no, Eren isn't doing this because he saw in the future that a treaty would fail. He's made his choice and he's sticking to it. If the others can stop him, that's their shot with the freedom he gave them, but Eren is gonna do Eren
