Personally I never understood why a business that specialized in an operating system for PCs decided to get into the console world in the first place. It made even less sense to me how many games were (and, to this day, still are) stuck on certain Xbox consoles like the 360 - why didn't the guys behind Windows bring those older-gen titles over to Windows the day after the next-gen consoles were rolled out?

Xbox shaping on this direction is from the fact that the physical sales arent delivering as much as people complain and claim to be. Xcloud doesnt get enough of appreciation on what it does. Smart delivery never got the applause of what offers to you by sparing to buy a version for the new console. Backward compatibility never got the appretiation because most of the people regardless of the advantages it offers, they bought a PS5 that offers nothing.... except for some ps4 games that you cannot enhance them since you need to buy spiderman 1 for ps5. We complain alot but we never appreciate much of what xbox has tried to give us since 2017. You can play alot of new games coming day one for basically free if you have the sub already. We left dreamcast burn as we left psvita down too until nintendo lectured us in 2022 with a OLED version and a hardware weaker than a ps4 released 9 years before... and psvita had a oled in 2012

You know how there used to be 3 main console manufacturers (Nintendo, Sega, and Sony) and then Microsoft with the original Xbox took the the place of Sega when the Dreamcast got discontinued. Well, maybe Microsoft might pull out of the console market in the near future probally to focus fully on Gamepass and streaming. If this does happen then maybe another company will take over for Microsoft as the 3rd console manufacturer. The rumor is that Valve is thinking about making a home console with Steam OS and that could replace Xbox cause it would be the best of both worlds. This rumored Steam OS device would be optimized and cheaper like a console but then it would play Steam games like a PC.

Other than the Xbox X being more powerful, Microsoft bought tons of studios while on the Xbox One era and released almost no games meaning that on the Xbox X era everyone expected all these games to come out… Yet this did not happen, no games have come out and they can now be played from anywhere which is good but also stupid and bad. I just want to play games on a powerful system that was designed to run them at their best, and I'd wager that's what a vast majority of Xbox fans that have been around since the original or 360 want. Sure, they're giving you that option but they're not committed to supporting that console with a competitive strategy that will give them a strong place in the industry. Those of us that have spent years/decades and thousands of dollars on this ecosystem cannot rest assured that the ecosystem we've invested in will still exist in 10-15 years. I don't have faith in Phil Spencer's vision and have been shifting more and more toward PS5 this generation, where I've had much more fun and enjoyed way more consistent high-quality experiences than I have in the last decade of being an Xbox gamer. And the worst part is, going forward I'm not even going to have to dust off my Series X in order to play Xbox's biggest first-party games - I can just stay on my PS5. Sure, making everything an Xbox will bring in new engagement and a fleeting uptick in the number of users engaging with the ecosystem, but those numbers won't last and the loss of trust from their longest and most loyal customers is going to hurt them way more than a traditional console strategy would.

I have a question and this seems like the perfect place to ask it. I just recently bought a ROG Ally and I’m trying to access my Xbox library since it has the app. However I only have a few select games I can get on the system. Like Resident Evil 7 when I literally own every single one of them on Xbox. Then Halo only gives me Infinite when again I own the entire series. It says I have to buy all these games again, or game pass. I don’t want to get Game Pass as I prefer buying my games outright. Is there any other way to get access to my full library?

Games weren't allowed to take advantage of it because there was an internal mandate that everything had to run on the Series S. . . which was weaker than the PS5. As such, the generation, "xbox" was not defined by the hardware that was more powerful, but rather it was defined by the hardware that was weaker than the competition, which, in turn, means the target hardware for xbox was even weaker than the PS5. . . As a conclusion, this made the branding of "power your dreams" so ironic of almost INTENTIONAL rakestepping as their own internal strategy AT THE START already worked against this notion by not even allowing their devs to even USE said power. This is why that branding DIDN'T work and so pivoted not long after launch, dropping that branding/slogan.

I think that people are missing the point. The service being available on pretty much all devices is such a great concept. Though, funny enough it isn't even supported on our Amazon TV.

There's going to be a future where we are going to get Frame Time issues and crashes from games streamed from "Xbox" and need day 1 patches to update the cloud version. Most people won't notice because the framerate, resolution, bitrate and latency are already degraded. So maybe a Month 1 patch... if they feel like it.

I own an Xbox but their messaging doesn't take anything from their box which works well. - Cloud saves just work. - Quick resuming multiple games just works. - It has the option to install on external or internal or automatically on different storage. - It has game pass which is still quite good. - They have a good selection of games coming out over the next year on Xbox first. - it has a better zoom function than other systems or at least on par with the Switch (for those with visual issues). - the Xbox series s is a very affordable entry to this gen or those wanting to get Xbox alongside Switch or ps5.

The funny thing is that Microsoft is actually way ahead of it’s time. I do believe that the future of hardware is that there’s going to be less dedicated hardware, but we’re just not there yet. And damn, is Microsoft bad at communication… It kind of reminds me of the Xbox One reveal. Being able to use voice commands to activate your console was pretty neat and having strict rules about DRM is something we’re getting more and more used to (sadly). The problem is that it was 2013 and they were pushing it, making the Kinect mandatory. It started the downfall of the brand imo I’ll be hugging my huge stack of physical PS5 games now 😂

Xbox has been having an identity crisis for the better part of 15 years now. First it was a console to compete with Sony and Nintendo with great AAA games, then it was a multi-media device/tv hybrid now its an ecosystem.

Funny timing, @DeadlyHeadley just made a video breaking down the marketing campaign, and considering for who it's targeted at, it actually makes alot of sense. I mean think about it - Xbox has failed to pull users away from PS this entire time, and the console market isnt growing. If they can't get more console users, what they CAN do is get users who don't play games often to just "try out gamepass". You don't need an expensive box, just pay the sub fee and play BO6.

I always had Nintendo consoles only, until December last year. Series X is my first xbox (and non-Nintendo console). I think it's great, but definitely this campaign doesn't help their case. I am a bit disappointed, especially due to their push towards digital, but I don't regret purchasing the console itself.
