The 4.0 and 4.7 will last forever when maintained. I miss my 15 Tacoma dclb 4x4...

Curious why you don’t have the 2015 Tacoma anymore, was it just not big enough? That’s fair, I have one and can see why people would switch up. I love pretty much all Toyota 4x4s built before 2015. They’re all good in my opinion.

I never hated mine for it. But the starter under the intake was dumb. Still lived it.

The heck. The 2UZ is like the 5VZ-FE except less problems. Still can get an oil leak and other stuff. I've done everything to that 3.4L from sensors, valve cover gaskets over and over, timing belt water pump, new intake and hoses, and now head gaskets and radiator. It's a money PIT! I'll take a 2UZ anyday or a 4.0L.

Everyone always worries about stuff like that as if its the end of the world. Most won't keep a vehicle long enough for a lot of maintenance items to become an issue.

The 1GR-FE sometimes has the oil filter on the bottom too. Just depends on the configuration you get

The 100 series Landcruiser with 4.7L has a small access port in the skid plate ro access oil filter. Why ahould have done that in the 4eunner and GX470 too!

Honestly a belt in my opinion is more reliable than a chain. With chains there’s a lot more parts that go bad like guides and tensioners and even chains can stretch over time and more expensive once they go.

Its worth it however the V6 has us beat on the water pump and starter location as well..lol. I prefer my easy to drive V8 though.

I have a full aftermarket skid pan on my 03 4Runner 4.7L, so................ My GF's 2001 3.4L V6 has THE WORST oil filter location I have ever changed and I'm a really old fart!

Yeah the lame 😒 reason pple don’t like timing belts instead of chains, so wait your telling me changing belt, water pump every 90k-100k is worse then a timing chain that’s bathed in oil and the chain guides and tensioners every 150k-175k hmmm 🤔 yeah it’s just silly 😂 not to mention belts are way quieter 😅 and my v8 has broader torque never let down for power and can go the distance even more so than the v6 yeah 👍
