My 08 SR5 just got rear ended a few days ago. If my insurance company decides to total it. Either I’m getting a newer 4Runner or I’m out of the squad.

One solution for the truck hunting for gears is to just buy a manual. It's one of the reasons to buy a tacoma as they are getting closer and closer to full size trucks both in size and price. I'll keep my old one that only has automatically locking hubs, AC and power windows. Everything else is manual and relatively simple.

Tacoma, unless you absolutely need to regularly haul or tow. In my experience most guys with full size pickups just drive them on the road and could get away with a camry. Plus aftermarket.

Coming from a 2014 Tacoma access cab with a 6 speed, traded in for a 2014 tundra double cab, the only thing I miss was the manual. The tundra is just a bigger, heavier, more powerful Tacoma. Can’t go wrong with either, but the tundra fits the family, so that’s what we went with.

I owned a 2021 limited trd off road 4x4 double cab and I’ll give an unbiased opinion, (owned a ton of 4Runner and Tacoma trd off roads in multiple generations) the seat was pretty comfortable and the 5.7 is definitely the main strength and pro of the car, road trips were absolutely the best in it compared to 4Runner and Tacoma Payload sucks, worse than my 4cylinder 4x4 regular cab Tacoma, felt like Toyota really dropped the ball on that Off roading besides a fire trail sucks especially compared to a 4Runner or even Tacoma trd off road City daily driving isn’t too bad obviously street mpg sucks but freeway mpg wasn’t too far from 4Runner and taco I got about 16mpg freeway doing 70 75 lifted with big tires Parking is kinda a pain since a lot of lots are small so you constantly worry about door dings, u turns suck I think its a beautiful truck and mine had the pro exhaust which I absolutely loved Basically it’s like a giant Tacoma without the off road goodies but you do get a more comfy seat and of course that wonderful 5.7 It’s basically a light duty truck and a good family hauler if y’all are 6 feet and taller including the kids

Cannot go wrong with a 4.0L Tacoma. Reliable and durable. I have the OTT tune on mine which adjusts throttle response and shift points and its been fantastic. Will eventually rebuild and install a procharger with a few upgrades to internals but from what I've researched, Toyota over engineered these engines so they might not be very powerful or fast bone stock. BUT, they do not wear out like the majority of other engines with proper maintenance intervals. Hence why you still see so many of them on the road today going strong. The bottom ends on these are so robust they are often compared to LS engines with how beefy the bearing caps are. The crankshaft is a thick boy too.

Most people dont wanna go through the process. 90% of the guys I work with simply just dont wanna service them, they just want to replace out of pure impatience. If you're just getting the filter, then no use. It doesnt really make a difference unless you're going with an aftermarket box. All in all...wix sucks, overpriced. Go with Fram or motomaster

Making videos like these makes them not even worth buying cause they charging 20k for a vehicle with 200k miles I never drove so they just keep raising the price . I get they are reliable but not invincible. The prices on these things is a bit over kill .

Purchased a used 07 Tacoma 2wd double cab long bed several years ago and love it! I had two recalls which were the leaf springs and one for a bad air bag sensor (I believe they replaced the clock spring). I live down south so I don't have to worry about salt on the roads but the sunlight faded the paint on my roof really bad. If you buy a 2ns gen please make sure you keep it waxed!
@Scrapla12 күн бұрын
Also to add to your great video is the fact these trucks don't have a locking tailgate. You can easily steal them. A cheap fix is to use a hose clamp and wrap it around the pivot point. Although this isn't 100% protection it's better than nothing and will slow down a thief.
