Like many Americans nowadays, new car prices are out of reach for me. So I keep driving my 2006 4runner just cuz I can't afford a new one. And I'm perfectly fine with that. Not gonna drive a new car on top of the mountain of debt.

Fun cars. The brakes are horrible.......most guys upgraded to the better '98 LS1 brakes. Also, on the 6 speed cars......the steel driveshaft was horrible for harmonic vibrations......the Aluminum one from the '98 was the way to fix that.

Love the build! The MR2 videos are my favorite, followed by the detailing videos (bonus if you're detailing the MR2 haha) Do you ever have any regrets of not keeping it stock engine-wise?

You're definitely in the right place - I've already filmed an epic MR2 detailing vid that I need to edit. No regrets on the engine mods - the 3S is a little boring in stock form and it already had some mods when I bought it so this car isn't exactly collector grade

I have all models of Tundra and my new 3rd Gen Pro is the best. Sorry to all 2 gen 5.7 owners but that 3.5 eng, 3rd gen is faster, tows way bater, better gas with more power. No recallas on the TRD PRO hybrids like the Sequoia NO recalls the Box frame , 3 link suspension rides way better. Plus the new tech features is just much nicer. You can talk to your car & have it do anything. Play a specific song and or navigate anywhere without touching a button & you can do that with leaving your phone at home.

My 2008 Tacoma had spacers on front struts and rear leaf springs when I got it as 2nd owner. It always felt squirrely and no alignment ever resolved the issue. The truck is much more planted after I removed the spacers. More even tire wear also. Bleeding the brakes using speed bleeders really helped the braking as well. Way better that using a vacuum pump.

In the last point where you talk about not worrying to much about milage since you don't take em with you I like. I enjoy racking up miles on my cars in my opinion a high milage car whether taken care of or a beat up work truck is so much cooler then any low milage car. I also think using and abusing your vehicle honestly makes them last longer. I always see old work vehicles that are just abused by any guy who happens to be in the vehicle that day on the road and just keeping going with high miles, and on the other end of the spectrum I've known so many people who religiously maintain there vehicles having some serious issue pop up or an engine blow or something. I'm a mechanic on big rigs and all the places I've worked have had some 300k-500k kms beat up work truck or van that is redlined and abused all the time and regularly goes way over service intervals and has never had a single issue other then wear items.

100% agreed, except for the rust issue with the frame from 07, even after the recall (was serviced). I got probably about a solid year left before the frame doesn't pass

I've got a 2008 Toyota tacoma with the four banger and 4x4. Just hit 341,000 miles and not a single light on the dash. love this thing. Slowest car I've ever driven but with the manual 5 speed I can make up for some of its lack of power with clever shifting.

Always found the vintage style SS badges on this car to be goofy and way out of place. A sleek, futuristic car with 60's era font is horrible. A new font or even the modernized SS badge of the 90's Impala would have been far more appropriate. Otherwise, very cool car. Looks great with the hood scoop and 93-97 headlights. 1998-up lost alot of visual presence.

Good video, esp the part about not using a car cover. Fellow Canadian here…I’m in the minority camp, but after years of trying it both ways with storing a car, mowers, atv and jetski, I’m in the empty gas tank camp. Even with stabilizer in them, they just run better in the spring with a fresh tank of gas for me, so I’m.not sure I buy it that a lot of moisture is getting in there.

What's your stance on swapping out the 3sgte for a 2gr-fe in terms of "modernizing" the mr2
@CanadianGearhead
@CanadianGearhead 3 күн бұрын
The 3S is one of the best parts about the MR2 but the 2GR is a great engine too - I'd do the swap on an N/A car or if the 3S was unhealthy 👍

Beautiful car. Love the clean style, choice of wheels and the line lock is awesome. Wish more mr2 owners would do build videos. Glad you did. I’ll leave you with a joke: what’s happens when you lean on someone’s mr2 in California vs Canada? 🇨🇦 in California the owner says “Hey! Get the F@cK off my car!!” In Canada the owner says: “Get the F@cK off my car, hey!” 😆 ✌🏼

Hey man, like the mods on your rig. Got a very similar setup on mine with the Icon lift kit. I have a question for you about the Doug Thorley headers, you mentioned you had them welded directly to the factory y pipe and cats? Any issues with this setup or check engine lights? My manifolds are cracked and I have an exhaust leak, thinking about doing this myself. What was the cost to get these put on?

I own a 97SS that ive owned since 1998. I was gonna order a 98SS, but came across mine. What caught my attention was mine was ordered with the R1 option, which gave you an extra set of SS wheels with bfg r1 race tires! Never seen another one Mine also had the SLP level II suspension. The TOTL exhaust sounds so good. Everyone comments on it whenever i drive it. Many are confused cuz of the looks, lol. I currently have longtubes, no cats and the lt4 hot cam kit w/1.6rr. This car has been with me thru many life events, including asking my wife to marry me(not by choice, but she had to go back to work sooner than we thought that day in a nursing emergency, lol). Did my 1st roadrace school in it over 20yrs ago and did all my evolution driving school levels with it too. It is in my garage at home with the SS car cover as i type and will be given to my son when the time is right
