Thanks for the advice. My band released our 3rd album on BandCamp on the 30th of July and I've tried to post about it as often as possible while trying to not sound desperate every day since. While we've had no sales yet, we've had 599 plays which is still pretty amazing by our standards. I've used any trending hashtags on Twitter that might have some kind of connection to the band. For example, it was International Cat Day and one member of the band goes by the name NiniCat, the album is a concept piece about my transgender journey and Leeds Pride was trending (I also gave my first international live performance in Leeds so there will always be a personal connection to that city for me). I think last time, I gave up too quickly. Once the album was out, I made videos but that was about it. I was afraid of pissing people off by constantly shoving the album down their throats. If you are interested, please check out the link to the album below (if you aren't interested, then ignore the link): thequagaars.bandcamp.com/album/evolver

Just went to have a listen and also checked out your KZbin channel. Love the name of the band, I was (always will be) a massive Dwarfer it's still my all-time favourite! Your youtube is growing nicely and I think you could make more of it as you have something to say and an interesting journey as well as the music/band. Check out www.Tubebuddy.com, it's a piece of software that will help with the algorithm and seo guidance. 😀

Thanks! Glad you like the name. Before The Quagaars, I briefly had another band called "SMEG"...not that I'm obsessed with Red Dwarf lol...although I did name my Mum's dog "Kryten" and I do call my car "Red Dwarf"...okay maybe a little bit obsessed lol. Thanks also for taking the time to have a listen/watch, that means so much. I have been brainstorming ideas for new KZbin content these last few days. I'm going to do something with The Gorilla Music Delivery System that you might have seen on the BandCamp page. Cool, I'll and install that now. Thanks for the advice.

What do you think about musicians being in several bands at once? I don't like it as it invariably causes conflicts of interest and scheduling issues.
@powerface713 ай бұрын
Here it is guys/gals. Pay attention. 1. A Band must be as close as Family, love and mutual respect! 2. NO GIRLFRIENDS UNTIL YOU GET A DEAL!!!!! 3. Make all employees sign and NDA! 4. Write as a group and split everything equally always!

Is it good for musicians to make a patreon?
@jordanfiction6 жыл бұрын
ive been wondering this myself
@DamianKeyes6 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, I should make a video on this soon. I would say Patreon is a great tool because it focuses the goal and pushes creatives to make content for other people. For me the money is bonus as most musicians/creatives wont make millions but every little helps. Patreon might help to keep posting consistent and also bring together some new fantastic relationships. For me it's a win!
@theundefinedgamer15745 жыл бұрын
I think that's very true, but it does have the expense of not being taken seriously as a musician, and being looked at as a content creator. Take for example KZbin musicians, like Roomie and Jared Dines. It's a completely valid way of being a professional musician, but at the cost of being a content creator instead.

I certainly don't feel comfortable charging for music. To me, the compensation model is backwards - I should be paying people to listen to my creations, not the other way around, but I have nothing against promotion. I don't want your money, literally. But I do want your _time_. And I'm willing to invest my money - and my time - to earn your time. That's how much I value it.

Damian Keyes I will be, don’t you worry. I have a question for you - as someone who hasn’t released a single yet but is building a brand (on Instagram but will start on KZbin next week) through daily video updates of what I’m writing, how I’m planning and so on, at what point is it worth advertising? As I’m mainly on instagram I get a very good engagement rate on my posts, but the only new followers I get are unwanted bots and I hate follow for follow. So I want to grow my following but I’m unsure as to how to reach new people

really liked what you said about the youtube views but honestly, aking my friends won't get me really far. One, I don't have that many friends. Two, I also put the video on my social media where they usually see it first. How do I go beyond the "friend zone" and actually make it possible to get to 50/100 views on KZbin ?
@mctv74166 жыл бұрын
Laetitia try younow/musically and yubo, perform & stream on there and promote your links and music that way

mc tv that's nice thanks for the tip. I'll try it out !

Laetitia hi Laetitia, I agree it’s only a start but you would be surprised what a bit of an algorithm kick will do. That extra 5-10 views will help and then one or two of them might want to share it so more people will see etc.. it’s about building one person at a time. Too many people worry about how they can get Kim Kardashian to promote it instead of looking after 1 person.. the power of one!! 😊😊 Also DM me on Twitter it Facebook (damian keyes) and let’s make a plan together 😊 I can help.
