The Beeb are their own worst enemy.. people listen to the radio (for the most part) for music to listen to.. if it becomes evident that the music doesn’t suit the listener then they switch off.. All of those many thousand of records they COULD play they stick to the same tired predictable play list.. coupled with junior presenters who are more interested in themselves and their own voice with very little intelligence or life skills to back the show it’s a recipe for failure 😣

As a truck driver I used to always listen to radio2 because it was available all over the country without having to touch the radio in my cab. During and after the BS of March 2020 onwards I got fed up of Jeremy Vine and his own agenda about covid and cutting people off who'd phoned in with their own views, which he didn't like, so i permanently cut him off, and we had Chris Evans at breakfast who was ok ish and then he went, and was replaced by miss Ball who couldn't be arsed to turn in, even though she was the highest paid, so I turned her off, and then we had Mr Ken Bruce who announced he was leaving, and taking his quiz popmaster with him. So now I don't bother with the BBC radio anymore and I know loads of other truck driver's who don't either, so im not surprised the figures are down for BBC radio and tv, and im not just putting that down to us truck drivers, im putting it down to people waking up to the BS they've been listening to, and making their own choices 😊 Bye bye BBC 👋

Good comment. They have been decline for a few years now. The decision makers (ex uni diverse snowflakes) there haven’t a clue about their core audience just box tickers. Can’t stand Vine, and Ball. Ken Bruce was the only reason why the die-hards tuned in, now he has gone. I only listen to Radio 4 extra. No bs news, just a nostalgic dip in the past with repeats of Steptoe, Dads Army, and Agatha Christie dramas etc. A gentle era that is sadly now gone.

Their viewing/listening figures are wide of the mark, everybody I know listens to Heart, Kiss and other local stations. BBC Radio Devon and Cornwall are my local regional stations. Nobody listens to them,in North Devon locals listen to the Voice it's more representative of the area and less patronising and middle-class.

I never watch TV but do listen to radio sometimes However Children in need is getting beyond a joke I understand it costs about £13 million to put it on and I would be insulted as its hosted by Mainly presenters who are rich because of their fame .So its Rich people asking Poorer people to give money .Why don't they give their money ?

BBC radio is crap. Local radio is the worse of radio with second class programmes due to poor funding. Pod casts is now the future if you want chat.

Both Radio and Broadcast TV is dead to me, I only listen to one Community Radio Station for 2 hours a week. As for the BBC World Service, it's not as good as made out to be. Having lived and worked in Oman and Saudi Arabia and one of the places was where the British Eastern Relay Station (BERS) on Masirah Island, Oman which broadcast the BBC World Service, used to be before it transferred to mainland OmanI rarely listened to it.

If you are still paying the licence fee you are part of the problem. My TV works perfectly well without one. Defund the bbc.

Wimborne has its own community FM radio station. It's really good and a real local station. National radio, I listen to Planet Rock and Classic FM

I've ne er listened to my local station, BBC Sheffield. Always found it a bit stuffy and boring. The local commercial stations were always much better. Unfortunately today's chart music being spewed out is generic drivel. What may be of interest, have you tried Boom Radio? Being a Boomer myself, I tuned in a few months ago, now totally hooked. Give it a try you may like it. It is also available on an app.

I used to listen nearly all day to BBC Radio 4xtra for it's drama, comedy and panel shows. Sadly every element of their 4Extra output is now totally woke, minority pandering, virtue signalling bullsh*t. Unlistenable!

After they fucked over Mayo by trying to force him to work with smug affected Jo bloody Wiley, and Ken Bruce left. Yeah, I just wont listen to Radio 2 anymore. Greatest Hits now has Mayo and Bruce and it is just as good.

During the Convid period, a commercial radio station over here in Northern Ireland, had all the presenters working from home. They all had the equipment set up in their homes and carried on as normal for roughly 2 years. Quality remained the same. Obviously they had a few staff in the Studio for any of the tech stuff, or pressing buttons for the adverts etc.

The other problem - and why I've given up listening in the car - is the transmission power on FM (I suspect) has been reduced. To the extent that now (in new car) I can't receive Radio 4 for the whole of my journey to work. Listen on DAB you say? If you live near the coast, close to France, DAB is practically non-existant! OK, you could stream it on your phone? I could if the mobile coverage was decent in the UK - but it just isn't. Outside cities & major roads, it's useless.

In Kent on the South coast your mobile automatically connect to French mobile companies too. Drive along the A20 it fluctuates depending on what stretch of rad your on.

It's odd that if I visit the French Coast, close to the UK, I have good mobile & Radio reception. They don't seem worried about interfering with us.
