So nice to hear Lisa Fuhrman. Eat to Live was my first exposure to healthy plant eating. It radically transformed my life. I love the unapologetic sentiments at the end of this interview. I find it refreshing. I’m 61 years old and I’ve been at it for 8 1/2 years now….. I don’t care what others think and I’m proud of losing 60+ pounds and healing high blood pressure, high cholesterol - and keeping things that way! I became a runner, took up yoga and hiking and most of all feel so so much better. You can’t put a price on what I have gained. I took a book out of the library. Then I bought that book and practically memorized it. What a gift to our world is Dr. Joel Fuhrman. Just love him and his family.

Thank you for this great interview. I always wondered what Dr. Fuhrman's wife was like. She is just as down to earth as he is and it is evident she is a true partner to Dr. Fuhrman and is a part of his success as a WFPB doctor.

What an excellent interview! I absolutely agree with Lisa, the more nutrient dense your food the less you eat.

Wow. What an honor to see Lisa in an interview. I still have hope that my husband and his family will move towards a Nutritarian diet. I know now that I cannot push the issue - I have to allow them to ask me questions and learn through me. I can't wait to hear Joel speak later this month!

Thank you so much for this interview Chef AJ! Lisa is a classy, articulate lady & her healthy glow speaks volumes of the power of lifestyle (& if I did the math right, she’s in her mid-60’s??? #goals!). The Fuhrman’s are a gift to the world-hope more people can hear their message, even, or especially, in the plantbased world. (Also, both of you are just lovely, glowing, vibrant ladies 💕.)

My best friend's husband co-wrote some chapters of Dr. Fuhrman's book, "Fast Food Genocide." She was once asked by a nurse to describe her typical diet. This was many years ago when before she met her husband. My friend described what she thought was a day of healthy eating. She said she ate eggs, bacon and toast for breakfast, a bologna and cheese sandwich with beef vegetable soup and milk for lunch, and chicken and rice for dinner. The nurse was aghast. She told my friend that it was unhealthy to have animal products at every meal. My friend told me what the nurse had said. This was the first time we ever heard anything like this because we were so used to the Standard American Diet.

It was so nice to meet Mrs. Fuhrman. She is not what I expected but a lot more interesting. She does seem to complement her hubby as she has more sensibility and empathy for other's eating habits. (Dr Fuhrman, I love him, but he can come off as too strict sometimes.) Especially in dealing with children and her own college students, she recognizes that forcing foods on children will result in the opposite result, and possibly eating disorders. At the same time she supports her husband. Just another great interview Chef AJ.

Good interview, although I was left wanting more detail about how Dr Fuhrman's father led his family to eat. It seems there was unearthed, and possibly quite interesting, content left on the table. Perhaps we can get the full story the next time Dr or Mrs Fuhrman appear on the show.

In my family tree, I can certainly say that I’ve pioneered a nutritarian/flexitarian diet by myself … It is helpful to know there are others who feel the same way about nutrition. It’s like a breath of fresh air to my belief system. As I am isolated with my diet choices compared to other family and friends, but regardless I make it work! Thanks for sharing 🌸

Healthy eating? So much ignorance about food. I thought I was healthy most of my life. Now 5 years WFPB. BMI 23. Lost 35 lbs and LDL -90. Respecting nutritarian diet but it is very restrictive. I like the philosophy I spend a lot of time packing my own lunch but I used to always bring left overs of meat spaghetti or turkey sandwich. Now its vegan version. Much cheaper.
