Steve Sanders was a good singer with The Oakridge Boys, but William Lee Golden makes The Oakridge Boys what they have always been. The Oakridge Boys have had A LOT MORE #1 HITS & TOP 10 HITS with William Lee Golden than Steve Sanders.

@@randymiller3949 True, but considering how badly William Lee wanted to be on his own, I will never know how the other members could be so quick to welcome him back. To me, his being welcomed back only makes the other three look like a bunch of hypocrites. If they don't have the stomach for one person's drama, then in my opinion, room shouldn't be made for anyone else's drama either. God bless you always!!! Holly in East Tennessee

@@SweetHeartHolly1982 I remember seeing an interview with Joe Bonsall & Duane Allen on CMT's Crook & Chase in 1996 or 1997, right after he committed suicide. Duane Allen said that they gave Steve several chances to get his life in order, Steve Sanders was fighting a lot of demons in his life & I also remember reading that Steve & his wife Janet were having a lot of marital problems within their marriage because of his drinking & drug addictions & his 1st ex-wife. His 1st ex-wife had him arrested because he wouldn't pay court ordered child support. This was probably a big embarrassment to The Oakridge Boys...especially for their publicity & their GOOD IMAGE...(there are also court documents reporting this...I just recently read them). Steve Sanders tried to sue The Oakridge Boys for unemployment benefits in 1998...EVEN THOUGH HE CAUSED ALL THIS HIMSELF!!! Joe Bonsall said that Steve missed a lot of shows & then would show up to a lot of shows too drunk or too high & he couldn't perform on stage & they had to use Dee Allen, Duane's son on stage & then make up excuses for him. Joe Bonsall said they sent him home to Florida to get sober so he could rejoin the group with a fresh start & that's when he shot himself in the head. Steve Sanders brought all this on himself...it's really sad that he had all this talent & on top of that, HE WAS A SINGER WITH THE BIGGEST COUNTRY SINGING GROUP IN COUNTRY MUSIC & somehow let his life spin out of control because of a woman, drugs, & alcohol. As far as William Lee Golden & him rejoining The Oakridge Boys...HE IS AN ORIGINAL OAKRIDGE BOYS MEMBER THAT MADE THEM WHAT THEY ARE TODAY...HE HELPED BRING THEM TO THE DANCE...WHY NOT BRING HIM BACK TO THE ORIGINAL LINE-UP. True Oakridge Boys fans are still buying tickets & going to concerts to see the original members & still buying their CDs & are now buying their new gospel music CDs & THEY'RE STILL POPULAR & RELEVANT AS EVER...THEY'VE HAD 15 #1 HIT SONGS & MORE THAN 30 TOP 10 HIT SONGS...THEY HAVE WON 5 GRAMMY AWARDS & 9 DOVE AWARDS WITH WILLIAM LEE GOLDEN...THEY ARE STILL ALL OVER TV MUSIC SHOWS...AWARD SHOWS...THEY HAVE DONE 2 GOSPEL EVENTS WITH THE GAITHER'S...THEY WERE INVITED TO SING AT THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION 2 TIMES, IN 2012 & 2016...INVITED TO SING AT PRES.RONALD REAGAN'S 2ND PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION AT THE WHITE HOUSE IN 1984 AT V.P.GEORGE BUSH'S REQUEST...INVITED TO SING AT FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH'S FUNERAL SERVICE IN 2018...GOT INDUCTED INTO THE GRAND OLE OPRY IN 2011...& THEN INDUCTED INTO THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME IN 2015!!! With William Lee Golden, The Oakridge Boys have had 15 #1 hits & over 30 top 10 hits. They've won 5 Grammy's & 9 Dove Awards with William Lee Golden. They've done 2 gospel specials with Bill & Gloria Gaither with William Lee Golden They were invited to sing at the Republican National Convention in 2012 & 2016 with William Lee Golden They've been invited to sing at the White House for President Ronald Reagan, President George Bush Sr., & President George Bush Jr. with William Lee Golden. They were inducted into The Grand Ole Opry in 2011 & then inducted into The Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2015 with William Lee Golden. They are still touring, selling CDs, & now selling their gospel music CDs & still appearing on award shows with William Lee Golden. THEY ARE STILL RELEVANT & AS POPULAR AS EVER WITH WILLIAM LEE GOLDEN. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you about Steve Sanders...he really hurt The Oakridge Boys image & popularity with all his demons he was dealing with. I watched an interview with Joe Bonsall & Duane Allen on CMT's Crook & Chase. They said they gave Steve many chances to get his life together & get his demons all under control. Duane Allen said that many times Steve Sanders would show up before a show too high or too drunk to perform & they had to use Duane Allen's son Dee Allen to cover for Steve & then make up excuses for him. I'm sure that when Steve's ex-wife had him arrested for not paying his court ordered child support & this went public...this was the last straw for The Oakridge Boys. And I'm pretty partial to William Lee Golden because he's an Alabama man from Brewton Alabama...very proud of where he's from & I live in Mobile Alabama about 65 miles south of Brewton Alabama & I'm proud to be from Alabama too.
