@TheGalwayFarmer @chrisgatesmusic @JamesHargreavesGuitar et al, Having watched this last night, [again, thanks to the re-upload - cheers James. I KNEW I'd seen this video a while ago and struggled to find it again. Now I understand why] Having watched the video and read these comments last night, Today, I happened to pick up the bible I have barely ever even opened since someone gave me it years ago, taking a look at the very beginning of the new testament. On the very first page, line 17 in the book of Matthew, you have: [from the online King James version] "So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations." Make of that what you will. Maybe nothing more than a tenuous synchronicity or coincidence - talking numbers of generations rather than years.. then again, some say nothing is a coincidence... I quickly lost interest when I scanned the page, finding more blah blah blah about fucking "Israel"... having caught even more of it a few pages earlier, at the end of the book of 'Zephaniah', looking for the start of the new testament... 'Sorry' anyone who needs to hear this [and somehow does from this comment] but nothing written in the bible or any other book justifies the bloodshed and evil being perpetrated, for Decades, against Palestinians, and FAR more severly than any pain the "Israelis" have suffered... I suppose centuries, though I mean really from the point that all this "zionism" kicked off, BEFORE WWII Part of the reason I'd been looking for this video was to see what this notion of the "rapture" was all about... and if Biblical Oasis might have any part to play in resolving the shit show in the middle east, bringing justice and peace and all of that.. Think it's fair to say we won't be seeing the rapture as described in this video, ay?... Forgive the waffling! Not sure if I digressed or not! God bless, for lack of a more reassuring phrase

the real masterplan is knowing that the publishing rights are coming up for oasis. he knew his divorce was imminent and so likely chose to do it before he would have to pay half the rights to sara once he did if he got divorced after that... she wouldnt have presumed he would have started oasis again straight after the break up. also by getting the band back just before this it adds god knows how much more to the value of the songs now plus another album coming which will also increase the value... Thats the fucking masterplan

In the video for Noel’s ‘Dead To The World’, the imagery fits in nicely with this theme of leaving earth and ascending to the heavens with the earth down below ( like the Shock Of The Lightning cover or the imagery Jame’s described for Champagne Supernova in the original Masterplan Conspiracy video ). But in the video for ‘Dead To The World’, it starts with floating through space past the farther planets in the solar system and returning down to earth….. It was when I saw that video and knowing the significance of it from James’ videos, I knew the band was getting back together soon. Noel was finally ready.
@JamesHargreavesGuitar
@JamesHargreavesGuitar 4 ай бұрын
Yep. Many people have pointed out that, after going up into space in this album, we then got a space/cosmic rock album in who built the moon. The story seemingly continued during the solo years. And then, in the Dead To The World lyric video (and Council Skies as a whole), he seems to come back to earth again. Pretty fun!

Dig Out Your Soul is one of my favorite Oasis albums, partly because of that apocalyptic atmosphere that weaves it together, signaling the end of something, while also the start of something new with "Soldier on". Ive been ridiculed and downvoted for years whenever I've expressed my opinion that the Oasis spilt was in many ways by design. I've always struggled to explain how something so real to those closest to the band could possibly have been planned without them knowing. I used to say things like "yes the split was real, to an extent, but it was always by design" because I couldn't ever seem to convey it any better. I just knew as a lifelong fan of the band. In any case it was like pissing in the wind as no one ever took me seriously. Its a massive relief to have found this video and your channel James. The entire theme of the final album was basically that he had to die to live again. The album was called "Dig Out Your Soul" because he was wanting to dig out his own soul. This video makes me realize four things. First, massive kudos to you. you’ve worked incredibly hard and clearly have a huge passion for oasis and finding meaning in their work. Second, Noel was always more than what the media and even early songs perceived them as- not just speaking for a generation of working class, but managing to tell his personal story. Third, he regularly managed to articulate it into a cathartic work of art, appreciating the (dying?) medium of narrative through music. Finally, it seems like he might be able to give oasis the reconciled, triumphant epilogue he probably always wanted to in the form of the reunion tour and new music.

Great video! I’m convinced this album is Noel’s way of confessing that he was going to break up the band. There are tons of hints in the album artwork too. The cover tells a layered story about the band’s end, which Noel is about to bring on. In the top left corner, the updated Oasis logo looks like it’s about to explode, with bursts at the top and bottom, symbolizing the band's upcoming destruction. The logo is set against the sky, with a dreamy feel from Liam’s perspective, hinting that a once-vibrant vision is about to be wiped out by an incoming wave. The scene shows a graveyard in a desert, symbolizing the band’s creative death and how nothing can grow anymore. This stagnation seems to come from the band’s internal conflicts as the artwork mixes religious and war imagery, representing the intense disagreements between Noel and Liam about where the band was heading, e.g. a war of ideology. In the bottom left, there's an astronaut on Earth, representing Noel coming back down from the “space” of the band’s success to reality. The astronaut seems to be walking away from the action, showing Noel’s disinterest and his decision to step back from the central action e.g. the band’s drama. In the centre two hands cradle an atomic blast, symbolizing Noel’s acceptance and engineering of the end and how he’s orchestrating it symbolises by the drum Inside the explosion. Below that, there’s a bitten apple, which ties back to the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible. It highlights how Noel knows the band’s fall is coming, just like Adam and Eve after eating the forbidden introduced death. And a newspaper with the headline “Come In, Come Out” suggests that this album is the final ride, inviting listeners to enjoy it before it all comes to an end.

Hi James, top video-the falling down bit about butterflies, it really got me thinking. I’ve always found the “Dreams We Have as Children” promo CD to be an intriguing part of Oasis’ catalogue. Even though it was recorded before “Dig Out Your Soul,” it was released afterward and featured artwork similar to the album’s campaign. Interestingly, despite its timing, it contains no songs from the “Dig Out Your Soul” era. The choice of covers, particularly “The Butterfly Collector,” has always intrigued me. If you compare the artwork of Oasis’ final single, “Falling Down,” it shows a pinned-down butterfly, which could symbolise Noel feeling trapped. This imagery is quite similar to The Jam’s original. Additionally, the lyrics of “The Butterfly Collector” seem to reflect Noel’s sentiments about the band at that time: “So you finally got what you wanted You’ve achieved your aim by making the walking lame And when you just can’t get any higher You use your senses to suss out this week’s climber And the small fame that you’ve acquired…” It’s almost as if Noel is using the song to express his feelings about Oasis, hinting that the butterfly will be the band’s final act. The song is also rumoured to be about punk groupie Soo Catwoman, who, after the implosion of The Sex Pistols, tried to attach herself to The Jam. This parallel could serve as a message to fans: that they might soon need to find another band to idolise because Oasis’ time was coming to an end. To me, this release, along with Noel’s decision to play these gigs, felt like him dipping his toe into the waters of a solo career. Starting the set with “It’s Good to Be Free” seemed like another indication that he was ready to be ‘set free’-much like the butterfly on the cd artwork spreading its wings inside the royal Albert hall. I reckon this could be a great subject for another video, as I don’t believe you’ve analysed this live recording yet. There’s a lot to unpack here, especially when you start to compare it to the last days of Oasis.

The shock of the lightning artwork is quite obviously referencing the sugar jar of Champagne Supernova but the POV of the little person trapped in it looking at the ball. Which clearly feeds deeper into the feeling trapped by the band theory. I looked at that artwork different as soon as you said Champagne Supernova was played in reverse. (I'm a graphic designer for reference)

I was at the Thursday gig they did at Wembley in 2009. The one that the sound system failed. At one point, Liam, with no context, without any interaction with Noel, said - We are not f****** splitting up. I knew something wasn't right. A few weeks later Noel left Oasis.

@@richardpblaikie I don't remember how long it took, but they fix it. It was funny as initially we didn't realise because the whole crowd we were singing along. I don't even remember which song it was. Because of what Liam said, I thought, gosh I don't want to be this the last time I see Oasis, so I went back on Saturday. I didn't get a ticket for next year shows, I really hope I get one this week, I'm in the ballot. I really want to see them and sing along to Oasis one more time.

It is a curious coincidence they reunite 15 years later, a good nice round number, and on the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe. Rumors of Noel wanting to pursue solo career were going on since the Oasis days for many years... a lot of things can be seen as there and not just random happenstance.

I love it James. My mind is completely blown. If you’re not correct in your theory, you are pretty darn close. Everything you said and all the connections you’ve made make so much sense to me. I would love to know what books Noel reads. I have to get my own lyrics up to par. I’m almost as old as Liam, but I still plan on furthering myself and betting myself as a writer. Noel has always been my main inspiration as far as writing goes. But I have to, as I said, find out where he gets HIS inspiration as far as literature goes. Don’t know if you’ve done any videos on that subject but that would be an incredibly interesting one. Cheers!

“you’ll find me on the end of a runway babe” is surely a reference to when he would swan off to the Bahamas/Carribean and sit in a shack at the end of the runway and write music. Believe that’s where he went to write a lot of BHN

@@sebastianfitzptraick7395 couple of thoughts (if aligning it to James' theory): It starts with the last song released by Noel under the Oasis name/there is a cover of 'mind games' which could be interpreted as the interim years of Liam and the press speculation over Oasis reforming/Finishes with Live Forever which could be seen as Oasis/Liam & Noel living forever through their music.
