Honestly, Alien Resurrection is the only one i dont care too much for, but id still give it like a 5. I really liked Prometheus & Covenant tbh and was hoping for a third...

This movie has a strong resemblance to ALIEN: ISOLATION, the iconic game that takes place years after Alien but years before Aliens. Sevastopol is the infested space station that the protagonist, Ripply’s daughter, searches for her mother. It’s not a bad story at all.

I second that opinion. Alien Isolation is an awesome game and it really has the spirit of the original Alien movie.

Overuse of the term "iconic" is a sickness. It's a cult hit; it is not remotely iconic.
@ryanmalarik43985 ай бұрын
@Woozy.0 iconic in this context is that there's a large amount of people and gamers who if you ask them to think of their most influential horror survival video game, Alien Isolation has held a pretty obvious title or comes to mind for a ton of people. Therefore it is iconic in its on right bc its held a solid position damn near over a decade later and will probably stay there for years to come

This looks actually promising. It’s not the Neil Blomkamp Alien film I was yearning to see but this actually looks better than most. Retconning original space jockeys into the engineers was a huge mistake on Ridley Scott’s part. He was doing too much.
@DAV19795 ай бұрын
Prometheus and Covenant didn't feel or look like Alien movies to me. The continuity was completely off. Everything looked too clean, too futuristic. They simply didn't align with Alien and Aliens. In Covenant, the characters were using Go-Pros and primarily 20th century weapons. In Prometheus, the Space Jockey didn't align with what we saw in Alien. It just totally took me out of the experience and was due to a lack of effort and attention on the filmmakers' parts.

I fully agree that to remove the mystery of the space jockey was a mistake and felt that way right when news outlets first reported on it. But since they decided to do it I think that Ridley's point of view is valid. He wanted to explore another aspect of the story and I believe he Never intended it to feel like apart of the Alien franchise, especially from a look and feel standpoint. I realise it's difficult to accept but nothing ages faster than futurism. Anything you can think of today is going to be overshadowed in some way in the future. That's apart of the act of, suspension of disbelief when watching a movie. Going back and comparing and expecting things to look and feel the same way as it should now is kind of hard to justify and make believable unless you can explain why. Use your imagination. Perhaps the technology of Prometheus looks and feels more advanced because the future techno-virus hadn't came about yet, requiring walking back some technology or this "Alien" towing vessel, is some really old sh*t, ready for the scrap heap.

The previous teaser trailer was better. It relied more on sound & kept things mysterious. This new trailer is less subtle & IMO it suffers for it. Not only does it pile on the kind of "homages" we need to see less of in modern films, but it also shows us the certain deaths of at least 2 characters. I hope they're well written enough for us to care when they die because the trailer treats them as disposable. The vibe I am getting from this is not unlike 2010's Predators. A film which looked great & had some genuinely great ideas. But in the end the experience was ruined by far too many "homages" & an over-reliance on tropes which were fine decades ago, but today are old hat! On a positive note, the cinematography is gorgeous & the sets are REAL for once!

Here's my 2 cents mate: Overall when it comes to most modern media, Its either really badly written, disrespects the OG or the trailers just straight up do not sell me on it what so ever. I'm a bit skeptical about this, but the trailers were fantastic imo. The only reason Im checking this one out is because of Fede Alvarez. I was a huge fan of his Evil Dead remake, and the cinematography in his films are excellent, so Im willing to give this a chance. I'm cautiously optimistic!...but by all means, the final product could still be a disaster.

I have a hypothesis; We are just too old. Young people who will possibly be barely old enough to get into the theater, who caught the horror bug, will likely have never seen anything in the Alien franchise, or maybe not the original, or maybe just the first one for several reasons. Not old enough until recently, horror didn't appeal to them until recently, they are apart (the leading edge ) of the 30 second tictoc generation, their friends weren't talking about it. I believe their are other reasons but I don't have enough young people to ask about it. That I believe is what the studio is banking on, Not older viewers. Anyway, the draw that maybe older fans will appreciate is how the show affects those they know, and to experience those old feelings vicariously. That seems like the best fun seasoned viewers can have. You certainly have a valid point but I think that there is another industry problem as well. That problem is that it's too risk adverse, and a certain level of par excellent talent no longer exists in the industry.

I honestly lost interest in Aliens after watching the fourth goofball disaster of a film. That was a very poorly directed embarrassment. The new films are almost as bad and raise far more questions than they answer. That universe had so much potential before they crapped all over it with their artsy fartsy BS. I have no hope at all for new Aliens films.

My take on this trailer and I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure fede had something to do with the trailer the way I see it without him giving too much away and giving enough and enough to show how it looks is by showing a bunch of Easter eggs that are already in the movie I personally think this looks good I'm hoping he ads something just enough to make it it's own but I truly feel he is only showing us a bunch of calls backs to the other movie with little sprinkles of how violent it will be and how uneasy some of it is going to be ( facehugger getting into the mouth) . I may have to much faith in what I've seen because I haven't seen any of his other movies but this just looks how it should idk how else to say it

Whilst I agree that Romulus looks to be a rehash of earlier films that is unnecessary, at least Fede is trying to make alien scary again. From what I’ve seen in the trailer it looks like the movie will be exploring new elements of the creature and bring the franchise back to its horror routes by putting the characters in horrifying situations with some new and some being familiar. So the movie might have that going for it at least.

After watching Alien Covenant, I'm expecting this film to start off being about Alien, but will turn into a non hetero allegory story told by a robot who wants to copy every robot-destroys-humanity cliche' in existence, while thinking he did it first. Fans will hate this no matter what thr director did. This video is proof of that. If this was on a xeno planet you'd be bitching that it feels to Prometheus or Covenant. As for the lead, she would have been inevitably compared to Ripley no matter what. People think female characters can never match their precious Ripley and that also set a bar too high.
