I love Cog and Tool. Definitely different bands, but Cog and now The Occupants captivate you just like Tool does. The music without a doubt is great, but it's the vocals that just bring it to the next level - in both bands. Very intense.

I have my darling little sister to thank for bringing this project to my attention. Once again this team produce a quality product. Just because a band considers themselves a Prog rock band, does NOT, and I repeat, does NOT mean that they went out to copy Tool!!!!!

It also does NOT mean they have NOT been influenced by Tool’s sound. Much love to both bands!!!!!

If you cant hear the genesis/pete gabriel influence hear you need your arse cleaned out....this reminds me of the up tempo section on a genesis track distant light.....vocal wise it howls pete gabriel....but let me tell you these boys have a style of their own....I dont know of any vocalist in Australia that has this unique sound.....Cog howled far too many commercial tracks that just stained commercials and advertisement...never sell your song for any advertisement I say...leave the jingles department to fuckwits who cant cut it in the real musical world....Another point of note...the drums on this track are played by Troy Wright.....a teacher of drums etc in Brisbane Australia.....check his stuff on you tube.....extremely unique....I hope he remains a part of this process if the occupants continue.
@samblah10 жыл бұрын
All music is advertisement though, its all about spreading your creation and showing your potential, why would an artist not want to be recognized for that? Fans off music need to understand this, 'selling out' is not a real concept.
@bulletinthewind10 жыл бұрын
COG….Commercial….? Nice one dummy.

I actually thought these guys were Genesis when I first heard them. But what is the problem with that anyway? They sound good and breath some like into a proven sound!
@nathandublya10 жыл бұрын
I get what your saying rodney newell I really do but I think in this day and age anyone can claim to make 'music' so it's a competitive world out there for musicians that are truly passionate about their art and in order for that to be heard then I think it's necessary to do things like allowing your song be part of a commercial or advertisement. If it can capture an audience even a small audience then it's a success in terms of the flow on effects from that. Even The Occupants have caught on to the fact that the 70's/80's sound is a hit and extremely fucking pleasant mind you and are writing some absolutely a grade music. I love it and I love music but I personally believe that there is another part to being current in the competitive music industry and I think that smart musicians like Flynn and Luke are able to maintain that by being smart and still making music that you can feel they are passionate about. I'm gutted I wont get to hear another COG album as I thought they were destined to be fucking massive and fucking love their message but it's great to still hear these guys making rad music.
