I always use like going up on the roof top. As you say a beautiful view. All those roof tiles were replaced after the storm in 1987. It was originally Welsh slate that was on the roof. As I looked out over Sandown from the roof after the storm, all I could see was missing slates from all the roofs around the place. it was a sight to behold.

@@isasalaam5055 that's wild! Is that the part's that are covered in felt that was originally slate? There is an elevated wooden platform above the centre turret of the hotel too which looked modern. The view's were very impressive an hopefully if the building is restored the roof would make a brilliant area for food and drinks on an afternoon overlooking the sunset.

@@allenwood9967 On the roof as you climb the ladder to the roof....that hut up there was the lift engine room. The lift ran from ground to top floor.

@@isasalaam5055 that was different seeing that up there, I remember thinking about whoever it would have been back then going up on the roof to work up there.

I walked past this place and thought how cool it would be to go inside and you did it for me. Why do folk have to graffiti and damage the inside though? I'm glad you made it out in one piece. Such a shame this happens to old fantastic buildings. Will it ever be repaired or has it gone too far? I have liked and subbed and I'll be back.

@@tubbatravels thank you I'll sub back to you too 👍 it's ashame to see it in the condition it's in, one part of the building inside was boarded off whether that's because it's connected to other buildings or they might have been working, I did hear a team working very close by. It is bad that they have to tag the wall's the way they do as the building still has some character inside.
