Re: the part about the housing bubble. This episode aired in October 2008, smack dab in the middle of the crash. So in terms of when they wrote the episode, the housing bubble burst was already underway during the time of writing, as was the recession, but the larger economy-wide crash that shocked us during that 2008 autumn had yet to occur (although it had started by the time of the broadcast.)

Chris has bad take after bad take lol. Constantly talks about helping the little guy, but really only cares about hurting the corporations. Filling out those forms are extremely helpful to low level employees. If you truly want to stick it to the man just fill it out with bogus information. I always fill them out if the cashier or team member is a good person that treated me well, I reciprocate that and help them out too. Makes me think of a conversation with someone recently who was trying to play up how children need help, billionaires have money, therefore rich people should adopt 10 kids and have to raise them. At some point you have to recognize that the rhetoric you are talking about isn't really helping the people you claim to want to help, it's hurting them in order to hurt someone else you don't like.

Chris, I think you may have misheard something about Jim buying a house, he’s not buying the house for his parents so they can retire, he’s going to buy his parents house, presumably from them, for himself and Pam, so they can have their own home after they are married. Also, to be honest, this was I believe the episode where I truly started to dislike Kelly. Like not immediately hate her but this was the start of some downward progression of her character for me. I never liked Michael just letting her get away with falsifying Jim’s and Dwight’s customer reviews just because of his own gripes about people not wanting to come to his parties. It’s understandable and a bonding moment between Kelly and Michael but what she did was just wrong and something that could have, and should have, resulted in her termination, if not a punishment so that she would know that she couldn’t het away with this kind of behavior, especially falsely declaring that she was r-worded, that was a step too far. Sorry for the rant, but this has been one of my biggest gripes with Kelly and it only goes downhill from here with her. On the upside, can’t wait for the next few episodes, they are going to be 🔥

No one really pronounces names "right" if they're not from the same country. It's always gonna sound off when someone that usually uses another language tries to say your name. Not to mention, when people come to the States, the families often end up Americanizing the pronunciation anyway. My family ancestry is Czech, but I know for a fact the way we pronounce the name is not the way it would be there. But that's what happens after 150 years in another country.
