You guys had a complete misperception about Jim buying Pam his parent's house. They live in a small town, they love each other, and they're both very simple and don't try to be extravagant. Jim wants to start a married life with Pam and that means living in a home, and any genuine woman who loves her husband would be grateful to have a home bought for her. And even though she made the New York comment, if you recall when she came back to Scranton she said that New York is not her, and Scranton is her home.
