the kids aren't alright is about all the expectations that you and your friends having as kids failing. You're goona go far, kid is about how someone who is able to manipulate, twist, and take advantage of other people will be successful. I recently befriended a homeless veteran who lives down the street from me. I told him that I was joining the marine corps so he told me to come by and listen to some of his stories. We became very close and I started to visit him very regularly. He showed me this song and told me that one day I'm going to look down from the top and that he wants me to remember him when I become the best marine the corps has seen and when I change the world. I smiled and told him that I couldn't forget him because he would be there with me. About a month ago he disappeared. I'm not sure what happened I just hope he's ok. Every day when I wake up I listen to this song and do my workouts. I won't forget you Travis, may our paths cross again soon❤ Edit: for anybody wondering, Travis got clean and sober, Travis now works at the zoo and has an apartment, mentally healthy and financially stable contributing member of society. I was so happy to finally see the Offspring live the other day. This has always been my favorite song of theirs. They did an amazing show and after Pretty Fly, the whole place went dark. We all assumed the concert was over. A lot people started walking away. I just sat there kinda bummed they hadn't played this song. It was still a great show though. Then a couple minutes later, lights flashed on and they burst into this song. The whole arena LIT THE FUCK UP!! It was amazing.

Show me how to lie, you're getting better all the time And turning all against the one is an art that's hard to teach Another clever word sets off an unsuspecting herd And as you step back into line, a mob jumps to their feet [Pre-Chorus] Now dance, fucker, dance man, he never had a chance And no one even knew it was really only you And now you steal away, take him out today Nice work you did, you're gonna go far, kid [Chorus] With a thousand lies and a good disguise Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes When you walk away, nothing more to say See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives [Verse 2] Slowly out of line, and drifting closer in your sight So play it out, I'm wide-awake, it's a scene about me There's something in your way and now someone is gonna pay And if you can't get what you want, well, it's all because of me [Pre-Chorus] Now dance, fucker, dance, man, I never had a chance And no one even knew, it was really only you And now you'll lead the way, show the light of day Nice work you did, you're gonna go far, kid, trust deceived [Chorus] With a thousand lies and a good disguise Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes When you walk away, nothing more to say See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives [Bridge] Now dance, fucker, dance, he never had a chance And no one even knew, it was really only you So dance, fucker, dance, I never had a chance It was really only you [Chorus] With a thousand lies and a good disguise Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes When you walk away, nothing more to say See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives [Outro] Clever alibis, Lord of the Flies Hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes When you walk away, nothing more to say See the lightning in your eyes, see 'em running for their lives
