Recon wasn’t tied to discs; you earned it one of two ways or were lumped into a group that was given it. First method was a specific Bungie employee granting your account access, and second was via earning all 7 Vidmaster achievements and finalizing everything through Bungie.net. When 343i took over Halo around late 2011-early 2012, they just gave all accounts who’d even played at that point Recon Armor.

@@Wortwort-Spooderbat I have Reach MCC and OG Reach. I prefer OG Reach's ranking system overall matchmaking and UI. I have come across more bugs in Reach MCC than I have OG Reach. I was just ranting about this yesterday when a friend and I were playing Reach MCC. It is still damn buggy. I had enough of 343. 343 does not fix their most recent title and still are trying to fix a game almost 7 years later. TC fixed Gears 5 better than 343 who has a larger budget did with MCC. It is a buggy mess that I no longer want part of. 343 is still too damn lazy to fix the network issues in campaign. This has been an issue since launch. We had less less lag on OG Reach than we did on MCC for some odd reason. I do despise 30fps and 60fps but it beats playing an extremely buggy game that just totally ruins the experience. Almost 7 years now to fix this buggy piece of shit. Keep in mind MCC is only 4 years younger than OG Halo Reach by the way.

Not that you would care too much about that considering how terrible the modern generation is, but at this point the sustainability of the live service model should seriously be questioned. Remember when you could just plug in your cd and immediately enjoy a complete game? Those days are gone, most likely forever, and at this point it is quite worrying what we actually own in legal terms, since we don't own any physical device they are basically lending out a service to play the game for x years. There are many things we should be worried about in the digital world.

There's another way to play Halo 2 online on the Original Xbox(or 360). Use Xlink Kai(www.teamxlink.co.uk/). That's where all classic games, as long as they're system link supported, can be played online again, even after their servers shut down. It's also possible to play modified versions of Halo 2 online, like the beta, Combat Evolved, if they have a softmodded Xbox, which is rare though, but it's very amazing.

Definitively a somewhat sad thing to happen, lots of memories from 360 days of Halo. However with the Halo MCC which has all the content and even more with a completely functional multiplayer, I can say I'm not completely broken up about it. I mean I haven't played the 360 versions of the games in years, everything I've done is on Halo MCC. So guess not a huge loss like Halo 2 was back in the day I remember being very sad thinking I'd never be able to play it again.

Unfortuately sometimes when I start the game with no connection to XBOX LIVE I have the default grey spartan and I have to connect to get my armour back so I fear Reach saves your settings to the cloud not to your XBOX. I hope I'm wrong and that's actually just my console being slow to load my customisation options. Customisation in Reach also extends to Campaign and Firefight so I really hope they drop a title update (although perhaps the online services switchoff means they can't drop title updates anymore) to allow the game to save your customisation options locally so firefight voices, armour etc all continue to work.

I have never had much online Halo experience......I kid you not, I have only had 2 days online for a demo I used.. I've been a 360 player. I have all the 360 Halo games outside of Spartan Assault. My first Halo was Halo 3, and I only got to watch my big bro Play it. I'm not very capable financially of getting an Xbox one....but I will always remember the old days of playing this Era of Halo.....the Era where I grew up and learned of shooters, and the brilliance that is this game franchise. I revisit the games over and over, and now that my time is limited, it pains me to know that this Era for me to experience what is left of theses games is ending.....as it's only my beginning. I will always keep a special place in my heart for these games, and the brilliant characters they had. Just wish the Era was too stubborn to die

I was playing Halo 3 with a friend on online, he had to go to church, ends up in a car accident. he and his dad didn't make it, his mom made it, but with bruises and a big wound. rushed to the hospital. three days later, two bodies in coffins and ready to be buried. felt heartbroken, I'll never forget that. his name was Anthony, he was 12 years old when that happened. he had a good grade in school, and was in a football team. What a bummer, I mean I get why they're doing it (they're still paying for the server space for all these game after all) but it's really gonna make me miss my time spent with Halo Reach and 3. This happened before with 2 and the community banded together to spent some last moments together (even forcibly delaying the shutdown until they all left, we probably can't do that this time since the games have newer matchmaking systems) and I hope we can all do that for Reach and 3. Though to be honest I'd almost rather they quickly shut it down with less notice, because now it feels like the games have a terminal illness and are scheduled to die in a year which just makes me sad rather than making me a little bit angry before I come to terms with it.

Halo 3 is huge for me. My brother bought it brand new and everyday for years him and his friends would come home from school and play head to head. I was too little to play it so I’d just watch the fight. In 2010, he went to the Navy and his friends moved away, and this game makes me miss all those times. MCC is good but it’s just not the same without the beautiful titlescreen

I only have an Xbox 360, unfortunately, I only discovered Halo in 2016, I instantly fell in love with ODST, and Halo 3 Mythic eventually bought reach, sometimes I would be able to get Xbox live gold, but very rarely, it hurts knowing that I'll never get to experienced it the way it was before

Well i think it was on average a 1000 A game for a couple of mins If a game goes on long it may look like your getting alot but there on certain game types like firefight and grifball where u can farm for credits if thats what u want to do also if u really want a skull in your helmet I mainly played swat just cause it was the most fun to me but yeah anything where you can rack up alot of kills is good

10:53 dude, we can still literally copy full games and DLC to an extent to flash drives I play games from of my Visiontek with my Xbox Live Account included. Who needs HDDs when USB SSDs can do the same thing except only up to 35MB/s. And even then PC can easily copy the content folder from the flash drive to the PC if you want it stored in case you're flash drive dies out, though keep it updated.

The least they can do in return is let matchmaking co-op on the MCC already. And let us change the MCC menu system to be more classic in design for each game. Something like Borderlands: Handsome Collection.

I assume that the player customization in Halo 4 will limited after the shutdown because there's commendations that specifically deal with multi-player, and after completing a certain amount of them, you'll get an armor set, so when the shutdown happens, you won't be able to do the commendations, which in turn, won't be able to get the armor sets. With Reach, I assume all the Halo Waypoint armor pieces won't be available after the shutdown since you need to get multi-player achievements to earn them.

This is really really sad! Halo 3 was a huge part of my childhood and teenage years! I have so many fond memories online. We can be happy at least that Halo 3 multiplayer on the original 360 lasted for so long! I honestly thought it was taken down years ago or assumed that it was.
