Back in sometime around 1999 I would of been 12. Me and 3 pals just chilling on our bikes and there was one of these a young lad had on our road. Claimed to be 500hp back them that was impressive. But one summers morning he needed a bump start so us boys got it going. In return he said he would take us around the block in it. I can still remember how excited I was sat in the back. And the speed of the thing was unreal. I think even now iv never been in anything as quick. Good times

J623 BSS was my one back in 2001, I live in the Scottish highlands, used to try and get stuck in the snow on purpose, never happened haha. I recall the most expensive mod was that steel sump guard that curled around the front bumper, very rare to get a genuine one. Turbo oil return was always an issue, clutch peddle bracket snapping was the biggest headache ever, that was the only time it left me stranded.
@JeffWood-e1q8 күн бұрын
I bought that exact car in around 2003 from a garage near Harrogate for £2,000 with a smokey turbo and slipping clutch/rattley gearbox. Had the sump guard on it and Corbeau reclining bucket seats. Spent an absolute fortune on it, ended up with lots of Norris designs bits on, HKS cams and the disco potato turbo mod, Apexi ECU Ohlins suspension and Wilwood brakes, was around 380bhp if I recall. Went through 5 different upgraded clutches in a year through launching it too often, broke it and scrapped the shell and bought a Black Evo 5 as was sick of dropping the beast of a gearbox and transfer box out on my back every couple of months 🙈 Seeing the reg in your comment brings back so many memories of sliding down the road sideways and nearly filling my pants in the process 😂
@willfal65278 күн бұрын
@@JeffWood-e1q No Way!!! haha what are the chances. I fitted those seats, they suited the car well I thought, come to think of it, no idea what I did with the original ones, hmmm, are they still in my dads garage, i must look. I think you must have bought it late 2004, simply because my son was born in Jan of that year and I needed something bigger and less money consuming (clutch was just staring to slip then), sounds like it treated your bank account the same way as mine lol. I sold the car to someone local but they didn't have it long and I recall seeing it in town smoking, figured the dreaded oil return reared its head again, I didn't really know the guy so never had any dealings with him after it changed hands from me, I guess he traded it in and somehow it ended up the other side of the country. I fitted an apexi Avcr on it, HKS mushroom filter, exhaust of some description, cant remember but it was a dam quick car back in the day. Least I know now I'll never see it on the road again. Turned so many heads, always got Q's on what it was everywhere I went.
@JeffWood-e1q7 күн бұрын
@@willfal6527Your right, we moved into a new house when I had it and that was Nov 2004. The oil feed pipe was braided when I removed the turbo so knew someone had been at it! I remember also replacing the oil pump assembly as I had issues with the pressure regulator, about £280 and then the knock sensor was intermittently shutting stuff down so had to replace that, cost a ton of money! The cam cover was also painted Metallic Blue which had me suspicious at the time as the Norris Designs forged engines came with a cam cover in that exact colour. Such a small world to see the registration pop up in here. I have quite a few photos of the car in its final spec if theres any way of getting them to you 👍

Had a black one in the early 2000's at 350hp, never lost a race from 0-80, your could rev it at 7000 rpm, drop the clutch and it just went :) Even by todays standards, it would give a LOT of cars a tough time off the lights. I don't know why this car needed 3 gears to get to 60, mine did it in second, but you can see even with 3 changes it was 4.3, im telling you with a proper launch in dry and hitting 60 in second, its doing low 3's.
