I read the comments and cry even more. My friends didn't like the game at the time, they were into zelda. I thought I was alone crying while Reset played at the end, and Issun and Ammy... Well looks like I was not alone, at all. Welcome back Okami, as you can see we still love you.

It's surreal to see that we live in a timeline in which an almost 20-year-old neglected masterpiece is finally getting its flowers (see what I did there, lol). Anyway, my favorite game of all is getting a sequel at last. It's a dream come true.

I'm 45 and I cried with this announcement! I used to work on a bank and play this every night at home after a working day to relax and get myself ready for next day. Those were stressful times and this game gave me real relief after my working days. I'm genuinely on a mission to buy a PS5 and this game.

Omg I totally understand you when it comes to loving niche properties that don't get the love you know they deserve. Especially as it comes to artsier games. I am so, SO glad to see a sequel of Ōkami. I actually made a character in one of my Pathfinder campaigns I play with friends that was heavily inspired by Ōkami Amaterasu.

As far as I’m aware, Okami is the only game in which the music, the art style, the gameplay mechanics, the setting, the characters and the plot exist in near-perfect synchronicity. It is the most well-executed package in the entire history of the videogame medium. The fact that Capcom (perhaps intentionally) failed to market it effectively is one of the worst fumbles the company ever made. The fact that modern Capcom is out here embracing their mistakes in abandoning or neglecting vast swaths of their IP stable by giving them long-deserved sequels is shaping up to be one of the greatest redemption stories ever told.

I campaigned so hard for Amaterasu in smash and a new Okami game, I saw the announcement in 2019 but kind of lost hope after they said they might have went overboard. But to see this being real I haven't cried at a videogame announcement since Sora and this truly feels like my prayers to the sun has been answered

I was thinking about quitting The Game Awards halfway through for a bit and going back to bed, but I decided to stay and boy am I glad I did. This is the single most emotionally powerfully announcement I have ever seen in my life. I have never cried at a video game announcement before, but the moment I knew it was Ammy my mouth was agape and I started uncontrollably sobbing. I have wanted this for YEARS. Ever since I played the game in 2014. It is one of my all time favs and it can't be understated how much this means to my present self and my past self. Your video said it all!

I haven’t been this excited for a game announcement in ten years. I’m still in complete shock even a day later. I played Okami once about six years ago, and this announcement made me tear up. I knew I loved the game, but I didn’t realize how much Okami meant to me until now. On another note, if there’s a new Smash game around the corner, Ammy actually has a shot now.

I feel in a very similar way Many of my friends know me as “the sole Ōkami 2 believer” and in game events like TGA, Gamescom, etc. I always used to say “Okay, Ōkami 2 is getting revealed in this event”. At some point I kinda lost faith but never completely, Ōkami truly changed my life and has shaped me to who I am today. I received a ton of calls and messages while I was kneeled on the floor ugly crying and trying not to scream too loud because of neighbours. As Geoff said, the stars have aligned for this one. I’m still shedding tears for this and probably still will all the way until I finish it multiple times long after it comes out, it’s just that special Let’s hope for the best and bring our support to this truly amazing project :,)

I have been crying on and off since the announcement last night. I just...this game is my comfort game. The one I will always go back to. I also have ADHD and I 100% that game. It is timeless. Geoff was really on the point when he said the stars aligned for this. To know that this game is going to get a proper sequel is just beyond the realm of my dreams. I made my peace with believing that it would never happen. To see so many people CRYING over the announcement is such solidarity to know that this game is still so well loved.

Honestly anyone saying Okami has too similar gameplay to Twilight Princess has never played Okami. TP remains my favorite Zelda but Okami absolutely stomps on Zelda as a whole. I've finished Okami again couple weeks ago, on the Switch this time, and it's been a little more than a decade since I've finished the first time on the PS2, and the ending made me cry even more than the first time. I don't know what it is with that ending that gets me so much, unlike a lot of games that you know when it's trying to make you cry, in Okami it comes so organic, it's such a beautiful game. And the announcement made me cry too, so that makes 3 times now that Okami made me cry 😂 Please Amaterasu, origin of all that is good and mother to us all, let this game be good 🙏

I too am a fan of Okami, and was ecstatic to see its return after nearly 2 decades!! Crazy to think that's around half of some of our lives lol, but as fans, it made it that much more impactful after Clover Studio was dismantled so many years ago. Love that Kamiya is coming back with Clovers for this project and what it could also mean for some of their other IPs, and that's still in addition to new potential IPs! What I love about this announcement besides how exciting it is for existing fans like us, is that it'll FINALLY get its chance to bring in new fans to Okami too! :)

This is my first time finding you and just from this video alone, I'm giving you a follow on Twitch and a Sub here cause you earned my respect solely on the mutual love for Okami. I shouted, I cheered, and cried at the announcement and even after I've been riding the high from seeing so many reaction vids of similar jubilation. I was 15 when Okami released and I first played it, and 18 years, 4 copies of the game, one spiritual sequel (Okamiden), and many replays later, I'm on the cusp of turning 34 and this was by far the best early birthday gift ever. Never thought it would happen, but truly, the sun has risen once again

Ōkamiden is a sequel the same way Chain of Memories is. It is the second game and chronologically takes place after Ōkami, but is referred to as a spin-off or side story. The Den part of Ōkamiden even comes from “Gaiden,” a term that refers to a side-story that isn’t usually treated as a proper sequel.

Okami is the first Rpg I ever completed as a child and my favorite game of all time. I will definitely be preordering it and playing day one, and I'll play it over and over again like I did with the original. I hope that others play it, and understand the beauty of this game like we do.

I'm completely overwhelmed. I lost close peers to covid, I had ups and downs with my employment thanks to volatile economy, and I was gradually building symptoms of mild depression. But TGA last night changed everything, this reveal after the 18-year wait reminded me how it feels like to love something again, and made me realized how lucky I was to be alive long enough to see a Okami sequel.

Okami is easily a top 5 game of all time for me as well, and probably number 1 among games from my childhood. I honestly never thought it would get a sequel because I never thought that it really needed one. That being said, I was watching the Game Awards last night with friends and I did the same exact thing, joked that it was Okami, and IT ACTUALLY WAS!!! The fact that the teaser visuals looked so fucking gorgeous, and that they got Hideki Kamiya back working with Capcom, with a new studio called CLOVERS, it was just such a magical moment for me. This will be my most anticipated game until the day it releases, nothing can surpass it.

Many fans believed that it was never going to happen once Kamiya left Capcom, but when news of Kamiya leaving Platinum Games there was a chance that it may happen. The trailer & reveal was a culmination of every fans dream come true. It's crazy Kamiya is back with Capcom and that an Okami sequel is real.

I didn't need a sequel to Okami, that game feels super complete, even though Kamiya recently said the original script was much bigger, but this news has shocked and blown me away. It's like a top 3 game for me. Unfortunately this game is probably going to be 2028 at the earliest, but it's hard to complain about waiting for a thing you never expected to happen. The thing about Okami I wish people talked about more than its art is how funny it is, it's one of the funniest games I've ever played. Okamiden is ok... Yeah, it's ok... kinda.

for every console i own i have a top ten games and on the the PS2 Okami is number 4 on that list (only being beat out by shadow of the colossus, Psychonauts and kingdom hearts). I saw the review of it on X-play back in the day and was instantly drawn in (pun not intended), also saw it was being released the day after my birthday so that was my present to myself. I'm stunned by this announcement though i know we might not get it until 2026 since the only just started production it is worth the wait.

Okami (original PS2 version) was truly amazing and one of few 100% games I have FULLY completed…the HD remastered version is also great. Shame that the Wii version is a missed opportunity with the extremely wonky controls 😢

I loved okamiden but barely played the original. I tend to get lost easily in modern games that don't have fixed cameras and I prefer portables. I do own it for switch and wii though.
