Not really UPS's fault as this was packed like trash, look at how flimsy the box is, along with like 0 packing. If people don't know, your package is literally hand loaded into a semi and then unloaded onto a conveigher and into the delivery truck, pack your stuff with some care and it will show up fine.

While I agree it was packaged poorly.. I run my own business and I've had stuff turn up with foot prints all over it, dog shit on the box, all kinds of stuff from UPS and FedEx employees.

I worked for UPS for years. I was a loader and a High Volume Direct Pickoff. The box WAS poorly packed in the video, however we had quotas to meet! If a trailer was expecting to get 3,552 Longaberger baskets then that's what got put into the trailers. I remember drop frame trailers, the ones that have a belly? Had wood flaps that closed over top to create the trailer floor. We would pack boxes and if the flaps didn't close we were told to jump up and down until they were level. I'll bet in the years I worked there I personally destroyed 150,000 dollars worth of high end Longaberger baskets going to Chelmsford MA.

I never heard of a "duffle cut", I understand it to mean a dismounted long rifle with the Wooden stock cut short enough to smuggle home in a duffle bag.

Exactly. Your war trophy bring-back rifle had to fit in a duffel bag, so you'd remove the action from the stock then chop the wood so it'd all fit.

It was popular for GI’s to do to K98’s whose stocks wouldn’t fit in a duffle bag. They would typically cut the stock where the barrel band and sling mount hold the top cover to the main stock. So that rifle could be put back together whole, without any major modification.

Still happening, shoddy wrapping. Many years ago I ordered surplus rifles and they were packed liked that. Was lucky none had broken stocks from the delivery. Sometimes five rifles in one box.

I bought an M1 recently and the guy who shipped it threw it and one roll of bubble wrap in the box. When it came in the stock was broken and when I told them thry offered me 25 bucks compensation to get a new stock.

Some people are very lazy when they are shipping...A few years ago I bought a Dutch Mannlicher M95. It was really badly packed, just some cardboard taped together around the rifle. The stock and the bolt handle was actually sticking out of the package...Anyone could see it was a rifle. The mailman gave me a weird look when he gave me the package.

Ouch! That’s some horrible packaging. It’s really nice to see people interested in WW2 era Chinese rifles though. I believe the first rifle is a Type 21, which was produced in Guangdong. It’s basically a copy of the FN1924/30. Your particular rifle seems to have been produced in 1935, the year before production switched over to Type 24 rifles.

Hate to say it, but it's true. When I would receive shipments at my old job, the guy just threw everything around to get to our packages. Sometimes, he would chuck our packages around before he realized that they were ours. I mean, if they do this in front of people, just imagine what they do when no one is around. Fragile, this side up, whatever....he didn't care at all. He would literally throw everything into a pile, and then throw everything as he was digging through the pile. The big stuff, he would kick it to get it out of the way. I told him a few times, to be easy, we had medical equipment in those packages. He just laughed and said "man it's all good". I said "naw man, it's really not, people's lives depend on this stuff functioning when they get it". He just said "my bad", and continued tossing and kicking packages. Half of the stuff in his truck was spilling out of the packaging. There were all kinds of hardware packs and miscellaneous pieces of things just scattered around. It's pretty bad.

At least all the wood is there. Should be fixable with some acraglas. Spray down the metal with mold release and wrap a surgical tube around it all put back together. Better than trying to find another proper stock.

I hope you get your money back for that but if for some reason you are keeping it and are going to repair it, search for the vid on youtube titled "Anvil 004.... Gew91 MAJOR Stock repair" Mark does a repair on a really bad break that has some techniques you're going to need. His was a long break like that but not at the action, that's going to be a really difficult fix if someone even attempts to fix it. I swear UPS is so anti-gun they are extra rough with anything that might be a gun. You'd have to put that thing leaning against the wall and curb stomp it to break one that bad.

I saw a guy grab a rifle from a guy who'd just taken it out of the box. He squeezed the floorplate, commented on the missing front screw and then almost leaned over the muzzle as if he were about to look down it, at least twice, maybe three times. Then, and Only then, he thought about checking to see if the damn thing was loaded. Tried to cock / extract the bolt and apparently unable to do so, attempted to pull the trigger. Luckily he failed in this as well. Don't know about the rest of the video, my nerves were shot ( not figuratively ) so quit while i was behind . . . .

RTI doesn't pack like this anymore, they used to just throw them in a cardboard box with nothing else like you said, but the last two I ordered from them came nicely bubble wrapped.
