The Tribalman's PDA (it looks like what the above guy said lmfao) *replaces two of your teleporters with a single catapult that gives temporary speed boost after launching (flings your team members really high and forward, and they get a good amount of speed boost for about 3-4 seconds after, works better when launching people into battlefield rather than helping them get to battlefield faster) *replaces your sentry with an auto crossbow that shoots precise arrow projectiles(low damage huntsman arrows that go a little faster to not miss but scout would probably dodge them at a mediocre distance, it also has a decent firerate) *replaces your dispenser with a small wooden supply locker that fills up with time (thee difference is it's healing is also limited it fills with meat like a normal dispenser would fill ammo but also anyone coming to heal gets instantly healed from the meat stock, but they can't get healed unless there is meat stocked its like a health pack)

Not all aspects need to be 100% random. You could randomize the traits and name, and have the values for the properties work on a weight system, giving "balanced" pros and cons to the weapon.

I imagine the easiest way to make a "balanced" weapon generator would be to add weight to each attribute, and ensure that the generator always tries to get within 10% of neutral weight. So a +50% firing speed might have a weight of 3, and a +50 bullet vulnerability might have a weight of -4 thus evening out to a -1, within 10% of 0. Then you just have to ensure that contradictory stats never cross each other, e.g fire vulnerability and resistance on the same weapon. The names would be a lot harder than the weapon stats, since they'd want to be tailored to the weapon's purpose. You could maybe have certain attributes of high weight be attached to a name, such as +50% fire damage give it the "flaming" adjective. But you'd still get weird ones.

(Why am I replying to a year old comment?) It's not just the weights that are the issue, it's also taking into account break points. A soldier can kill a scout in 2 direct hits. But if you slap a +30% damage on him he'll do it in 1. But if you put a 10% damage boost it'll still be 2. Same with movement speed. A spy runs at the same speed as a Medic. But an item that increases movement speed for the spy means that he can now catch up to a fleeing medic for a backstab. Balance is weighed around breakpoints and how different classes can change them in subtle ways

I want to give my perspective on how to build a random weapon generator, mainly out of python. It seems easy on the surface, grab a text doc with a bunch of names of adjectives, verbs, and nouns and have a piece of code read the text randomly and slam them together to get a weapon name. I personally don't think this is the hard part, but you have to split the lists up into what words fit with what class, and what slot they go in (primary, secondary, melee). This already sounds like a fucking pain in the ass and I don't want to do it, but here is the real kicker. That isnt even including stats for weapons and what type of weapon they are. Alone trying to get stats of weapons to line up in a fashion that makes sense to their class and slot can be a fucking nightmare. For instance take soldiers secondary, you need to make a program that can automatically assign if its a damage dealing weapon or a support like buff banner. Now that you have that you need to get the stats for it. Another problem, what is a balanced stat? Cause you can have a list of weapon stats on a text doc but if they are applied randomly most are going to come out as direct upgrades, or complete downgrades. This is personally my idea, split the stats up into tier of -5 to 5. Tier 5 stats would be shit like (+%50 damage) or something completely busted. while negative tier 5 would be an insane negative stat that are applied with the application of a tier 5 stat. This is already hella long to read, especially for a fucking youtube comment, but I am currently thinking about giving this a shot. If your willing I would like some help in compiling stats into a text doc and to begin sorting them by teir You didnt include your github :)
