TL;DR: LostC0re's old record has been inaccurately documented, and is off by about half a frame. It should probably be 10m 12.109s. Inexplicably, Okashi's time has also been incorrectly documented, and should probably be 10m 11.260s, an improvement of 51 frames, or about 849 milliseconds. ---------- The Super Nintendo runs at 60.09881389744 fps, just like the NES. A 50 frame save over the previous record would be an 831.963 milliseconds improvement. 51 frames saved would be 848.602 milliseconds. If the leader board is showing a difference of 838 milliseconds, I have to wonder if the MODs didn't input the correct time per frame count on one of the two runs. EDIT: Looks like they're both wrong. Lol. If LostC0re was 36,786 frames, that would be 10m 12.0919468s, rounded to 10m 12.092s. And if 36,787 -- 10m 12.108586, rounded to 10m 12.109s. For Okashi, 36,736 frames equals 10m 11.2599836s, rounded to 10m 11.260s. So it appears we're not entirely clear on the difference, since the old record was improperly documented with a variance of half a frame. Lol. Could be an improvement of 0.831963s or 0.848602s. In my experience, when an inaccurate time is given by a half frame, the true time tends to round up. So probably a 51 frame improvement, or 0.8486s. But then again, I don't know what excuse the MODs have for the slight inaccuracy of a 2023 record. Perhaps that one needs to be rounded up to, upon further inspection!!!

@DelphinusOrcastra Depends on how close the category is getting to the human limit. If there's not much room left for improvement, 0.849 seconds is pretty big. But it's also a question of how competitive the category is. Has it been 5+ years since the last record because the category is so optimized? Or is it because no one's been grinding it, and it fell into obscurity for a while? There sure are lots of categories in this game!!

Orb, glitchless, and no cape 11 exit. So what you're saying is that he's the greatest Super Mario World *player* on earth. (As opposed to the glitch category, which is now populated by some of the best in-game *programmers* on Earth. When you're manipulating a game's code to completely rewrite it, that's programming, even if you're doing it from within the game.)

I really hate that cloud is a thing. I love speed running this game, and don’t appreciate having to compete against people using cloud. My best time is like 17:56, which is admittedly sloppy, but is on the board. It just kind of sucks that even if I cleaned up the run I’ll never break into the top unless I use the cloud glitch.

Correct. In speedruns differences of a few seconds can be monumental achievements. Look at the speedruns of Super Mario 1. People are one-upping each other by a few FRAMES (fractions of a second).
