You're in an impossible place seeing something move when it litteraly, physically and logically has no right to, and it's determined and malicious with it's pursue. You just can't help but escape since you just don't wanna know what it can do, not worth the risk. Also imagine yourself in a different situation instead of this one that you watch from behind the screen. A bunch of paintings around you change as you look away and the figures within them start to come out. Then you suddenly see they don't need you to look away, they fully animate and can come out of the paintings like it's a window. The shapes of their faces are uncanny since it's litteraly a drawing coming into the real world. They start moving towards you. You just won't take the risk of knowing their reasoning. Instinct says better be safe than sorry.
