No Delica in size comparison? I have no idea of the flashlight's size without a Delica comparison. And maybe a RAT 1.

I've actually had tail switches get turned on in my pocket but with my S1 I just keep the clip in front of the switch as a safety and that also allows me to kinesthetically know where the switch is
@Tmankiller727 жыл бұрын
I have this light as well as the S1r , I carry the S1r and keep the S2r in my pack ( using the same cable ). To find the switch easier I place the clip on the opposite side ( also good for a headlamp using the S1r on the bill of a hat). The size of the S2r is nice , not to big compared to other 18650 lights like the UC35 you were using but not as small as the CR123a/16340 lights that you can't get your whole hand on. All in all a good light and good review!

Good review of an interesting light. One thing I'll disagree with is the utility of a USB chargeable light for somebody who uses it regularly for work. Wife is a first responder. When I mentioned a chargeable light previously she laughed at me. She needs her light to work right now. No way cops/fire/medics/security can be fiddling with charging cords on duty. She carries a charged spare 18650 in her bag. Can't recall her ever needing it. She rotates batteries off the charger frequently (or I do for her). She happens to carry a black Olight on duty. We put a ring of reflective paint near the tail switch to make it easier to find if dropped.

Nick I have s1 in my EDC kit. You can simply turn the clip around and block the flashlight from turning on in your pocket.

I bought one of these after seeing this. In the end, it has 3x the run time for the same price and I’m just plain greedy! To be honest though, I like it, it’s small enough, powerful enough and lasts long enough never to worry about carrying it.

I have the thrunite tc12 v2 in cool white instead of neutral but you get the option of what tint you want 1100 lumen output micro USB rechargeable I looked at the olights but didn't sit well with me for some reason
@BryceAWD6 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with your analysis of the output. This light will literally light paper on fire. I know cuz I do it as sort of a bar trick all the time. 1020 lumens is a crazy amount of light in comparison to the size . I do enjoy your reviews by the way keep em coming.

I personally like the Streamlight Microstream with rechargable 14500 cells. I infrequently use a light so it's nice and small and with the 14500 the output is doubled at least. Biggest drawback of the cell is the 15-20 min runtime and some of the heat.

I sent my S1R charger in a carepackage to Ireland by mistake. So yes, you do indeed lose them. I am not too happy with their rechargeable ones. The S30II with it's modded 3.6V Battery (and I bought a second one from Olight) can't even if fully charged not reach the Turbomode of that light. I need a cheap chinese Noname battery to make that happen. The only Olight Product I've ever had a problem with. I wonder how the Turbo works on this one.

"Which is good if you want to do some popping and locking" bahaha!! The silly offhand comments you make like that are the true little gems of your KZbin channel, and the reason I continue to watch. I have my knife and multitool, both of which I picked up based on your videos, and for my edc system that's all I need, so I don't have any particular reason to watch gear reviews anymore, I just watch yours because you say funny things in a funny way :p

Lumens aren't candela, which is why your olight's 1k lumen output is literally only a third as bright as the 1k lumen fenix. Also why the fenix is brighter than the 2k lumen warrior. The TIR reflector has everything to do with that. Also, lay the item down when you start with the hand flailing as you talk. Its nearly sickening to try and look at details on something that looks like it's flopping around in a dryer. That is one of the few legitimate complaints I have with your style. Anything else is me just messin with ya, but that one thing is pretty eye-grating.

i dont like either of them. i dont even like the aa/14500 version. i like that the clip is deep carry but i dont like the clip either. i hate the side button activation. if i were a cop and needed a strong light to whoop ass with and while writing on my notepad or doing cop shit, i could see this being kind of relevant especially with rechargeables. personally i prefer the armytek tiara and zebralight angled lights. i do definitely like 18650 for long duty runtimes. i also dont like the ui of this light. i like a separate mode button from my activation switch but that does add length, especially if you want a rear clicky. i hate the idea of a magnetic tailcap. magnets along the pocket clip are very useable for the angles you may need. magnetic tailcap i usually cant get the angles of illumination i want. and i hate when it grabs other stuff in my pockets. eagletac is definitely my preferred edc. d25a-ti, d25c-ti if i need smaller a four sevens preon. surefire 10tap lights are faves too. i run a 16650 in my surefire fury and its got 2500mah. the 16650 is a pretty good cell that should work with a lot of lights. i like that surefire is usually low/hi for pro, 1 mode for tactical. an 18650 powered surefire under 200 bucks an issue. elzetta and streamlight are great choices also.

I cannot imagine ever spending money on a flashlight that is rechargeable and/or uses batteries that cannot be purchased at every store anywhere in the world. AA's and AAA's are the only reasonable options, they are cheap and they are sold everywhere.
@ZakWilson7 жыл бұрын
At higher outputs, the very best alkaline AAs have a capacity of 300 mWh. An 18650 has a capacity of around 12,000 mWh. That's 40 times as much. At very low output, you only need 6 AA alkalines to match an 18650. If you want a higher powered light or long runtime, 18650 is absolutely the way to go. If you just need something a bit better than a phone flash, AA or AAA is fine (but still, use NiMH or lithium - alkalines leak and destroy your gear). That the S2R needs a proprietary modified 18650 to charge is ugly though, and the tailcap contacts always being live is a fire hazard.
@rodrigoteresa79447 жыл бұрын
markalexander774 You probably already carry a rechargeable phone that doesn't run on AA's or AAA's, and you probably use it much more often then a flashlight. I'm not trying to be snarky I'm just pointing out that this shouldn't be a major turn-off for you. Like the guy above me said if you stick to standard batteries you're missing out on some awesome outputs.
@markalexander7747 жыл бұрын
What do you really need a slightly brighter flashlight for? The amount of light that a AA's will produce is perfectly adequate, if it were 2-3 times brighter, it wouldn't actually make that much of a difference because it already sufficed. If I need something a lot brighter, I'll get a larger flashlight.
@markalexander7747 жыл бұрын
+Rodrigo Teresa Exactly, the most annoying aspect of modern phones is the fucking battery. It doesn't last long and there is nothing you can really do about it. I have to limit how much I use my phone everyday because of the fact that I cannot charge it until I get home, it would be awesome if I could just swap out the battery really quickly whenever it was running low at work. I also use my phone a lot everyday, meaning I pretty much always know its battery level and I expect to charge it everyday, whereas with a flashlight, I wouldn't use it that often and might end up reaching for it after a period of non-use only to find that the battery is out, and with a rechargeable one, I then have to go find a power outlet and the charging cord and wait until it gets some juice in it, but if it had AA's, I could just find some and replace them really quickly. Phones are also a different beast just in terms of how quickly the battery runs out. If I am good and don't use it that much, I can maybe charge it every other day and be fine, but that is really only if I am not using it that much at all, so if I had to get 2 or 4 new AA's every day or every other day even, that would get expensive and inconvenient. On the other hand, the flashlight that I currently use the most at my house has not needed to have its batteries changed in several months, because I, like most people, are not using flashlights very often because I have lamps in my house, headlights on my car, and industrial fluorescent lighting at my work. So yes, if you need to use your flashlight for hours and hours a day, everyday, you should probably get something rechargeable, but if you are like 99.9999999999999% of people on earth, it isn't necessary and is more of an inconvenience than a benefit.
@ZakWilson7 жыл бұрын
Everyday carry isn't usually about what you "really need", i.e. the minimum you could get by with and not die, or at least fail at your intended tasks. It's about what makes your life easier, more convenient and more enjoyable. I enjoy having plenty of life and plenty of battery life. But to flip this on its head, I cannot imagine ever using disposable batteries when there are rechargeables that perform better. That's like throwing money away to get worse results, and it's bad for the environment too. Operating cost for Li-ion is barely over a penny a charge amortizing the price of the battery over its 500 cycle life, and even lower for NiMH.
