One of the most important directions for people training BJJ comes at the end of this video: "The responsibility is on the guy on top". Many BJJ instructors fail to advise their students to keep in mind the safety of their training partners! Congrats!

10:48 Baratoplata from mount, can hear your partner appreciate the lock. Both you do an excellent job in your videos, both the teaching, and your partner flowing with you. Yours are the best BJJ videos I've found so far and you seem like a down to earth guy, which seems to be a rarity in BJJ, at least based on my experience (too much ego usually) May you have many good years to come sir.

Kesting is a great teacher. I've been checking out grappling for about a year and a half. I've learned a lot about locking joints. I can't train it unless I move to Seattle. There are no local teachers.
@Pifagorass Жыл бұрын
Consider checking for Japanese JJ or Combat SAMBO classes - they are experts in joint locks but mostly in standing positions. It's too much focus on ground in BJJ if one thinks about self defence IMHO

A small point Stephan - In the Baratoplata you don't actually force the opponent's wrist behind his back. You pretty much immobilize it, force it to stay in place - as you bring his elbow up\forward, creating a shoulder lock. This distinction is important to understand in order to apply the correct hip vector. Great vids, thank you.

Thank you for this video. It has tremendously improved my omoplata game transitioning to different variations. The only one I struggle to get is the baratoplata from bottom. I find it difficult to maintain control of the arm while positioning and applying torque.
